  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Constructive suggestions to improve the Genesis

If you are looking to reject heat, I'd suggest a Ceramic film which has the highest heat rejection rate of any film. It blocks a lot of Infared rays that most films don't block well. A ceramic film will block more heat then the sun shade since the sun shade is perforated. Others on this forum have used Formula 1 Pinnacle and have been very pleased.

I am going with the new Llumar Air Blue 80% on the front...it rejects 42% of heat. And yes, it is ceramic.

The other tinting will also be ceramic but in the 35-50% range.

Are you suggesting tint over the shades as well?

Definitely not trying to take away your thunder - as I agree that this is a great feature (side view mirror dropping) But I must also proudly state that my 2002 Acura tl type S ( for sale at a low low price!) also had this feature. Way ahead of it's time for the price of the car.

Still a really awesome feature.

Cheers

Glad to hear you're getting a ceramic film done:) I think the tint job will not look proper excluding the back window even with the sun shade up. I find it's very easy to see through the sunshade, inside the vehicle or outside, so I really don't think it is very effective with darkening, but more to block the direct sunlight to reduce the hot spots in the vehicle.

Maybe take look at pictures on this forum of the car tinted and decide for yourself if you desire having the back window tinted.

Happy tinting:cool:

What was this thread about again !

Jerry Seinfeld....you know he is an avid car enthusiast.

I bet even he would be impressed by the Genny. He needs to add an R-spec and Equus to his stable. :D

Easy answer! All wheel drive. I live in Utah and the winters here with my read wheel drive genesis is really tough.

Better noise abatement would also be nice as well as little things that my 04 745i had like window shades on the rear passenger windows.

Another thing would be to have the friggin tech / nav panel moved into an alcove like the 7 series. The current one has glare problems and when its on it lights up the car a bit much at night.

Last but not least would be perhaps a bit more mood lighting. Again my 7 had some really nice interior accent lights that made driving home with friends after a night on the town a little more cool.

A reduced carbon footprint, that is, a significant improvement in fuel efficiency (a hybrid drive train, a clean diesel, full electric, etc.). I love my new-to-me 2009 3.8, but I'd like something that I can drive without guilt, and that will still make sense in 2015 or 2020.

Wipers that you can "park" in the up position for car washing.

You can put the wipers in the up position and move them away from the glass to clean it. Turn the ignition AC on than off, push the wiper stalk all the way up and pull it towards you, wipers will now move in the up position.
Now go out side and pull the wiper arms away from the glass.

I wouldn't mind a carbon offset option at purchase. I really am excited to get the R-Spec but I understand it's indefensible in terms of emissions compared to the 3.8. I still want to get it but I'd be totally down with the idea of being able to check off an option on the order sheet that would plant a bunch of trees or protect some Amazon rainforest or something like that. So the car would basically be carbon neutral.

Thx for the info---appreciate it. Interesting, but I would never go to all that trouble though.

1. Bluetooth A2DP for audio streaming from smart phones
2. Folding side mirrors
3. Blindspot warning system
4. AWD
5. Improved Voice Command response
6. Improved USB Media functionality
7. Cooled passenger seat

Lower profile/roof line a couple inches

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
things that interest me the most:
1. Rework dash to shade LCD screen from sun washout. also needs manual brightness/setting control.
2. Minimum of cooled passenger seat. (if kia optima can have heated/cooled front and heated back, why can't genesis?)
3. rework around gear shift area to allow for more useful space. (lots of wasted space in this area IMO).
4. AC system: seems generally weak in output. in auto mode is inconsistent, I can feel heat waves hitting my face at times. Also seems to take too long to cool car when on Max.
5. more features for back seat passengers. entertainment screen, radio controls, refrigerated arm rest cooler, underseat foot massagers/shoe buffers, soda machine... something.
6. Bluetooth A2DP streaming!!! for gods sake man, how is this overlooked.
7. AWD vs improved gas mileage. i'd go with improved gas mileage.
8. Make more room under dash for glovebox- seems smallish. I can only fit 4 handguns in it.
9. Nightvision HUD. b/c sometimes at night, you just want to go stealth.

Recommendation: Change to a push button parking brake, like Volkswagens have, and raise the foot rest. I believe the cost of this change would be outweighed by the perceived improvement in quality. If I had really noticed this too low left foot rest when test driving, I admit I would not have bought the car

I too have a 2012 3.8 with prem/tech pkg what gives me an electronic parking and "hold" brake.

Nope. I like it just the way it is. We got into the Genesis because the 2011 Sonata has such a raked-back roofline and my wife does like having to duck and sit down into a vehicle. The GENNY is just FINE the way it is... :o

ditto. i like to be able to see out of my vehicles. not a fan of this new tiny windows, huge sides style.

the car needs a serious intake and exhaust

not obnoxious.....

but a little sound from the 5.0 would be great

more communicative stearing feel and upgraded brakes that don't fade

a stability control system that can be adjusted in multiple stages would be neat

so would paddle shifters on the steering wheel

oh....and an 8 speed transmission software upgrade - so shifts come a lot quicker - instead of coming from pluto everytime you downshift....lol
