If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GUYS ... Don't you think I know how to go to the service dep't !!!!
I HAVE BEEN THERE AT LEAST 10 TIMES !!! and they are very nice folks at my dealer CHANGED EVERYTHING !!! still no FIX .... spent hours going and coming from dealer they put in NEW HEAD UNITS rebuilt ones ,amps etc NO it just does not work... they went as far as selling me another car for $7000.00 more ha,ha,ha... really cheap because I have 10,000 miles on mine ..I have sent 25 emails to hyundia usa ..no real answer ....lemon law good luck in nyc ..who has the time !!! The car runs fine .. fast, fun to drive ac cool, tires are crap we all know that ETC.... BUT THE ELECTRONICS JUST CAN'T BE FIXED !!! At least not in my car & I won't fight trying to get out of the lease ...you lose to much money ..... So my answer was just to go battery radio & a headset for the phone .. and wait for lease to expire !!!
THE MONEY IT WOULD COST IS NOT WORTH GETTING OUT OF THE CAR NOW ! to me !! so I drive it and just don't get upset anymore trying to fix it.
I wonder do any of you guys in a 2012 have the same thing with the electronics???? anybody else with a audio head unit that got fixed or does it also work sometimes & sometimes does what it wants !!! LIKE IT HAS A MIND OF IT'S OWN ..................... A really bad head unit !!! AGAIN BMW HERE I COME ! CAN'T WAIT !!! by the way a friend got the new bmw 550i and it's just unreal ..and yes the ipod on the dash works as fast as touching the ipod ... I DROVE THE 550I ... A WINNER & LEASE PRICE !!! A FEW HUNDRED MORE A MONTH .. MORE THAN I WANTED TO SPEND BUT THEY CAN'T FIX MY CAR . SO.....I LIVE WITH THE CAR FOR NOW & I'M OUT ! I QUIT ...END OF STORY ..GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CARS GUYS !

To Ikeym,

I posted on your other thread. I won't repeat everything, just go look there.

My friend, if you don't have the time to advocate for yourself, no one else will (you say who has time for the lemon law in NY). You better have time.

If you're going about this like your posting here, you'll get nowhere. This may sound harsh but you seem emotional in your posts and a little childish. I hope you aren't doing the CAPS stuff in your emails. IMO I think the emails are a waste of time anyway

I had everything documented. I demanded that a regional manager come look at the car. He realized I had a paper trail and he had a letter from my attorney and what my plan was if this was not made right. I never had to bother with the lemon law.

I'm not here to bash car brands, but a BMW is not known as a problem free vehicle. Conventional wisdom is to sell or trade the BMW before it goes out of warranty, though it appears you lease...still...not a good omen for trouble free use.

Again, good luck

Oh, a PS for you...when my amp was replaced, it was brand new. It seems now they are putting in refurbished ones, seems to me that's like getting someone elses problem.

F^&$#&^ happened again! I hate it when the audio takes a vacation...no info (or anything unusual) on the screen just an absense of sound. I have the initial oil change comming up soon and I'll report the issue...I sure hope they have an answer for me.

Thanks so much for your advice but I know that no car is perfect and the reason I'm going to BMW is the simple reason I took a chance on Hyundai when I was looking to save money and did not get the BMW 535 for myself.
I did get my son a new bmw 335i conv. 6 months ago and that car is a dream ...just everything about it is what he wanted ! NOT A LICK OF TROUBLE !!!! NOTHING a truly GREAT little car for him. A bit faster than I would have liked for my kid but he did not want the 528 and wanted the m3 so we went with the 335i ...he is 17 years old ! I am very upset with myself for going with Hyundai and having all the hassle with the car. I spent more time and effort than it's worth to me to get this car right . And I am sure that it's pretty much the system in all the Genesis v8 with tech and not just mine ! The ipod, nav, radio, etc. So in a few months when the hit is not that bad I will just get the car I should have gotten in the first place. All you need to do if you lease and that's how I buy all my cars for years is look at the price of the bmw 535 or 550 vs the Genesis and the monthly is about $150.00 -$200.00 more. A lot of money today but now I know you get what you pay for ! The old story LOL it's so true !! I'm not a customer for a bmw 750 or s550 or ls460 they are out of my range but i'm sure that I will be much happy with the BMW 535 OR 550... GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND AGAIN MANY THANKS . IKEYM

Good luck to you, too, and I'm sorry you've had so much trouble.

I too have had this issue occur as of 1/2 hour ago. I've only had this vehicle since Jul 2011 and have had the car back to the dealer 5 times. Twice for wind noise (passenger rear window), once for the phone inoperative (head unit changed), once for over head sun shade picking up a black streak when retracked and just last week for a check engine light. And now I have no sound what so ever! I hope it corrects itself like so many others have had happen but whether it does or it doesn't, I am disgusted with the car. A vehicle that Hyundai claims to rank up there with various luxury brands and list in the mid $40K range shouldn't be having things like this going wrong. After researching cars for close to 2 years it came down to the Genesis 4.6 or a Lexus 350. I'm now convinced I've made the wrong choice even though I love the appearance of the Genesis over the Lexus brand.

From other threads, I'm pretty sure this guy ended up with a Buick LaCrosse. Hope he enjoys it and spends a lot of time on that message board.

It is the setting error if it makes no sound when the disk plays(it works under FM and navigation). Please enter into "sound band setting" of "DVD setting",set it as "analog ouput"then back to main menu,DVD will work normally. have a try ,hope this information can help u:D

1 Check whether the system is muted. If so, please press the MUTE button to turn off the mute.
2 Check whether the speaker cable is off. If it is ,please re-connected.
3. Check whether the speakers is damage. If it is, and replaced with new.
If the above three are the normal ,then ,generally, it just a set of speaker wire and the body caused by short circuit, can be separately disconnected all the speaker wire and connected one speaker, if it isnormal, then another group of the speaker is line short circuit, if there is no then it mean the host is go wrong.

It is the amplifier in these vehicles. They have the satellite radio as part of the amp. On my navigation screen I would see from time to time a Check Antenna message appear, no volume for any settings and the steering wheel controls would not work. shut down the car for around 5 minutes get back in and everything worked fine again. Dealership replaced the antenna per a TSB about them overheating. Seemed to fix the problem but after a month same problems again. They had another TSB saying replace the Amplifier which they did and habeas had no problems in the last 9 months.

Hope this helps some...good luck with getting it resolved !!

Last year, I started getting "SDS is synchronizing ...." error message on my 2010 4.6 Tech every time I tried to use voice command for either phone calls or NAV. Dealer replaced my head unit and the issue went away for a while.

Last weekend, I drove to Austin to visit few relatives and once over there, I tried to use Voice Command to enter an address to the NAV system and I got a "SDS is synchronizing ...." error message on the screen. I also tried making a call via Bluetooth using voice command and got the same error. Like last year, restarting the engine did not help. I decided at that moment that I will give my dealer a call during the week.

This morning before calling my dealer, I decided to play with the "Full Eng Menu" and see if I could get this thing to work again without having to disconnect the Battery for a couple of minutes like my dealer did last time.

Once in the Diagnostic mode, I tried resetting the whole system but, it didn't work. Then, tried resetting individual components. I tried resetting SDS but, it didn't solve the problem. Finally, I reset UTA and the problem got fixed. I believe the UTA is the Amplifier, Am I right?

Hello everyone..

Honestly - since I have been a member of this forum (since 2009), I have seen this issue..and I have been able to ignore it. My car has never had the audio failure issue.

This past weekend, I park my car after driving 10 minutes or so. XM radio was on. I go to start the car after it set for about 15-20 minutes...and all I get is "check antenna". No audio. Changing the source does not help. Eventually - after the car set for 20 minutes - it finally came back on.

My car has 58K miles. This is the first time this has happened. I was nearly panicking as I have seen how many people have had head units replaced. I am out of warranty. (36K audio warranty) I have skimmed several of the posts regarding this issue...and I don't think there has been anything resolved.

Once this happens...does it seem to be more likely to reoccur? Is the only solution replacing the amp/head unit? I believe I read people with 2012s are still having this issue - so I am not sure how a new unit will help.

Has anyone identified if this is a software issue, overheating issue?

This problem certainly has me worried as I do enjoy the Lexicon. I am regretting not buying the extended warranty.

Bob

My genesis just failed with no sound after 7000km. The XM radio antenna was replaced when it failed on the way driving home with new car. This car really sucks. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON HYUNDAI. BUY A HONDA OR ACURA FOR RELIABILITY.

Same problem I had the car one week last June when it happened. I was driving to the dealer and it started working. No sound like it was on mute the phone would only have sound when disconected from the blue tooth. It happened once since then. Dealer said they had never heard of any problem even tho I was out in the dealers lot and another customer had a Genesis like mine and had the same problem and they replaced the head unit and the amp but the dealer who fixed the other car never heard of it and it was the same service writer that I asked. The only other problem is I cannot get the home link to work I have even when on the Chamberland web site and Hyundai. The instructions are totally different but I gave up in Aug after about 100 trys in two months.

The only other problem is I cannot get the home link to work I have even when on the Chamberland web site and Hyundai. The instructions are totally different but I gave up in Aug after about 100 trys in two months.

The following procedure worked for me:

1. For first time training, press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons, releasing only when the HomeLink indicator light begins to flash after 20 seconds.

NOTE: Do not perform this step when training the additional HomeLink buttons.

2. Position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink mirror, keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view.

3. Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink button and the hand held transmitter button.

DO NOT release until the HomeLink indicator light flashes slowly and then rapidly.

When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released. The rapid flashing indicates successful training and the procedure is complete. This also indicates that the garage door opener does not use rolling code technology.

Note: The garage door may open or close during this step.

Steps 4 through 7 are only necessary if the HomeLink button appears to be transmitting after step 3, but the garage door does not operate.

4. Press and hold the trained HomeLink button and observe the indicator light. If the indicator light is solid/continuous, training is complete and your device should activate when the HomeLink button is pressed and released. If the indicator light blinks rapidly for 2 seconds and then turns a solid/continuous light, proceed with the following training instructions for a rolling code device.

5. At the garage door opener receiver press and release the “learn” or “smart” button.

NOTE: Once the button is pressed, there are 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step.

7. Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the trained HomeLink button for two seconds and release. Repeat the “press/hold/release”sequence up to 3 times to complete the training process. If successful, your garage door should open or close during this step.

Podreber I understand how you feel...take a second and search the forum for this subject and you will see many have experienced the problem. Short term fix: shut off the car and pull out the large yellow fuse in the interior, driver side fuse box. Replace the fuse and you'll have the sound return. Long term fix: take the vehicle into Hyundai and have them install a software fix. I plan to have the software refresh after the Holidays. This issue occurs with the Equus also.

Our Genesis are plagued by an assortment of electrical bugs that are just pains in the ass. Wether its the "buggy" steering column or dead audio or frozen Nav screen it all subtracts from the experience of owning this car.

Hyundai has been less than helpful about these issues. They have to know about these problems but to date no public campaign to correct the issues. Much like you my next car will probably be from Toyota or Honda. They consistently rank as the more reliable brands.

I asked my Hyundai service writer about the "no sound" issue and the software update and she just laughed and said "hold on for a bit there may be a recall on the audio"...sure! I use a different dealership now.

Home link is working the 3rd time I did all 7 steps in a row it finally worked I had done the regular step and then the rolling steps but never together. That is quite involved to do all one after another. This was the 4th car with homelink and the only one I had trouble with.

Thank you for your help
Dick

Radio on, no sound.

I am experencing a re-occuring problem with my radio. I will turn it on and there is no sound; the first time it happened was the same weekend that I took delivery of the vehicle (November 2012). Yesterday head unit would turn on but no music at all - tried XM, disc, FM . I turned off the car and let it sit for three minutes, then I started the car again and nothing. After five minutes out on the road the music started playing. Last night the screen for the back up camera showed only Genesis and not the rear view as I was backing out. The screen/head unit made click noise and turned off, two seconds later in turned on and worked normal after that.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing on their vehicle??
