If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know how to get an Iphone 4s to play Itunes through the Bluetooth connection on a Sedan 5.0 R-spec lexicon system?

I tried to get Bluetooth to work via streaming. I even had my nephew, who works at Apple try...he spent 45 minutes trying to get Bluetooth to work. I guess it does not support Bluetooth, although I think I read in the manual that it does support Bluetooth.

To sort of beat the system, I went to Radio Shack and purchased a cord with male fittings on both ends, one end into the earphone outlet on the Iphone, the other into the AUX located in the center console where the Ipod cable is supposed to go.

Enjoy steaming music as well.:)

No streaming in the Tech, only (I've heard) in the touchscreen version.
But you can play your iTunes music by plugging in the iPod/iPhone cord provided by Hyundai ($30?). With that you can also play Internet radio stations, Pandora, etc. All while charging your device.

This is correct. Tech package only supports BTW hands-free profile.

Well - that is very unfortunate! I just bought a 3.8L w/ Tech package (picked it up last Saturday). The first Genesis that I drove was a 3.8 w/ only Premium package and immediately after starting the car, I paired my iPhone 4 to the stereo and was impressed that it supported A2DP streaming.

Silly me - I assumed that the Tech package would do the same thing, but I have not tried it yet. Of course, it was only about a week ago when I found out that the Tech package didn't support touch screen on the nav display. I can live with that, and I guess I'll live with no A2DP. Doesn't sound like I have much of a choice! It seems odd that a car with a 'tech package' has LESS stereo tech than a car with a 'premium' package.

Oh well. It wouldn't have been a deal breaker. I'll get over it. I'm glad I read this instead of spending a lot of time wondering why it wasn't working!

I have a 2011 3.8 base, and with my 3Gs, updated to the 5.0 software, it streams music via bluetooth just fine. The sound quality is not as good as when the phone is plugged in through the earphone jack.

To ROinRaleigh,

I bought my car on 12/30 in Apex, NC at Johnson Hyundai. Based on this Bluetooth audio thing, I'm pretty happy with my choice of the Premium only pkg. Still, I envy your Tech pkg with 17 spks vs my 14, your lighted logo door sills, your electric parking brake, etc. What I envy most of all is your leather that smells like leather! ;)

So you're saying that you simply sit in your car with the bluetooth turned on in your phone and you're able to push "Aux" and stream music from your phone to the car? Mine doesn't recognize an "Aux" source unless it's plugged in.

Yes, except I select the MP3 option instead of AUX.

I discovered this by accident. I started to play a song, but had not yet plugged in the aux connection, and was surprised to hear music. Seems that when I am connected via bluetooth, it also makes the connection via Apple Airplay. Under the Airplay selection I was pleasantly surprised to see Genesis as one of the choices!

Well PMCErnie - I got the 3.8, so no lighted door logo for me! I would have loved to have that feature, but apparently it is only on the 4.6 and higher. Not sure why that is the case, because it sure does look nice at night! I have to tell you - the stereo sounds OK, but i have not been 'blown away' or anything. The 14 spkr system must not sound too hot because I read a lot of negative comments on it in here. I am moving to the Genesis from a 2005 Volvo S80 w/ the premium stereo system, and I really think that the stereo in the Volvo sounded better (at least based on my 1.5 weeks of use thus far) than this one does. But, it didn't have BT, XM, HD Radio, etc. It did have an iPod integration though.

BTW, I bought from Johnson also. I was happy w/ the sales guy that I worked with (Johnnie Richards) and happy w/ the sales mgr. Jury is still out on whether I will be happy w/ the VSC and maintenance package that I purchased. Overall, I feel like I got a good deal, so no complaints (yet!).

I have no complaints about the 14 spk Premium Pkg radio. I plugged in The Police Reunion DVD concert and was very happy with the sound. Mucho bass response too. Mucho! "Everything She Does Is Magic". If the Premium pkg has any shortcomings, it's not the audio. Yes, I think I envy your higher end leather the most.

My salesman at Johnson Hyundai in Apex, NC near Raleigh was Shayan Samsam (Irish name). He found my color w/Premium only pkg at a great price! These cars have been very hard to get.

I really hope this works on my 2011 4.6 w/premium and tech package. Running out to the parking lot now to see. Crossing fingers!!!

I do not think it will... He said 3.8 Base which actually supports A2DP streaming tech packages do not...

I doubt it will either. Someone explain to me though, how that makes sense? A lesser package has more features?

No sense at all, but one of my very few complaints.

Boooo ! This forum answered my suspicions perfectly.
Good forum, but I didn't like what I found. I've been gearing up for a Genesis for months. My fiance bought an Elantra 4 weeks ago. I jumped in and paired my iPhone 4 with the car and cranked up the tunes. I bought a pre-owned 2012 5.0 last Friday and a week later I'm finding out that you actually have to use a jack to play music through your system?! I'd give up my air conditioned driver's seat for the ability to play music via bluetooth. I'm wondering why the center console design doesn't incorporate a small track or groove to allow the lid to close and latch easier when a cord is being used.

Very minor problem compared to how much I love Hyundai though. What a great company and what a great car this R-spec is...
