  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is your biggest complaint about the Hyundai Genesis?

Pressing the ESC Button does not turn it completely off, at least not on my 2012 R-Spec.
It does turn it down a bit, but not much.

But there is a way...:cool:

429HP feels completely different when not hampered by the ESC.
It's actually uncontrollable in most circumstances, but there are times when it could be useful.

I know, safety this and lawyers that, but since other car manufacturers gave a way to using the actual power they advertise, it would be a good thing if Hyundai followed suit.

Here is a thread that describes how someone did it.

Not for the faint at heart.

This is a good discussion topic, but it helps if owners could tell us in their profiles just exactly what year their car is and what options it has. This also helps some of us construct meaningful samples of opinions.

In my case, I would like my auto setting to wipe at MY time interval choice, rather than sensing when the windshield is "wet enough." This rain sending concept stinks. Plus, it risks damage in car washes if I forget to turn it off. I've got enough on my mind w/o worrying about my wiper settings!

I actually like the rain sensing wipers. I find it much more annoying to adjust the wiper speed when passing trucks, when driving faster or slower, etc. I find that if I adjust the sensitivity, it gets pretty close to ideal reaction.

I agree. The wipers are my second fav. feature. First is the smart cruise.

I've got a 2012 Titanium Gray 3.8. Tech Package. Overall I'm very happy with the car...That's to say I'd buy it again (different color)

Here's a complaint I haven't seen posted. I have the Titanium Gray and during highway driving every time I drive into the sun at some point the Glare off the hood is blinding!

I have the same problem with the black dashboard which I've stopped putting Armor All on (Dahhh), but its still has a problem with glare which I use a black cloth to cover that portion of the dash when driving into the sun on bright days.

I never saw that problem coming!

I also get a lot of wash out on the NAV screen when the sun is bright.
Never use Armor All, over time, it will crack your dash. Use leather conditioner.

A little too big.... :p It's 2 feet longer than my previous car and six inch wider.

I'm still more of a sports sedan and smaller car kind of person.

Coin tray/place for me to place my parking card/etc instead of the ashtray/lighter.

No way to get the ultra-premium leather without getting the tech package items, which I don't want at all. I guess that's to be expect due to this car not really being a drivers car and wanting to limit the kind of packages offered. I still think it is very nice interior.

I would have to say I would not have bought the previous version of this car, it's nice and all but the 2012 looks a lot better(the small changes really help), is better driving car and faster and more efficient.

1) iPod integration, as noted several times, is terrible. If I am lsitening to an artist and then get back into the car again, I cannot see the artist I was listening to to view the track list, unless I re-search for the info (same if I view map, climate control,..). NOW PLAYING should always be available, if not, then automatically going to where I left off. This should be able to be fixed with a simpe flash update.
2) the search of songs on ipod is very slow when scrolling through song list, artist list, ...
3) WHen auto folding mirrors are folded in, they should automatically unfold when I open via door handle, start car, . I do not always use key fob to unlock the doors, and I ahve forgotten a few times to press teh button to "open"the side mirrors.

I have had my Gen 4.6 for only 1 week, but those are my 3 annoyances thus far. Otherwise, i love this car. Nice upgrade from my Acura TL SH-AWD

short list of what annoys me in my Korean Bentley

1. Both mirrors go down on reverse, no choice of left or right
2. Mirrors won't open when starting car automatically
3. Rear view mirror defaults to "night vision" mode and tints everything green at the slight hint of light
4. The ash tray cannot be used as a coin tray as it's plastic and will rattle your change
5. The rims are 7.5" wide and cannot take more than 245 rubber. The car has way too much power for stock 235's
6. Does Hyundai really think that a 2nd front cooled seat would be enough to move up to the Equus?
7. Voice commands are not as good as the Acura RLs it replaced
8. KDM Badges are not standard
9. Kick plates are not illuminuated even on Premium+Tech
10.I love this car...but with AWD and remove the first 9 issues, I'd be willing to pay more for it.

Id like a solid six speed dual clutch auto transmission capable of tolerating 550+ TQ, and an option for a lightweight all wheel drive system. the water in the trunk after a wash bugs me too. Id like to totally be able to disengage the traction-nanny via a simple button rather than the fuse pulling method that I currently use.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

2012 here and never any water in the trunk. Which fuse do you pull for the ESC? I'd like to give that a pull too :)

What is this "water in the trunk" I keep hearing about. What year is your Genesis?......I have a 2011 and have never had water in the trunk....Hyundai has fixed this problem, for sure in the 2011 models!

If you open your trunk right after washing the truck lid drips a bit onto the trunk mat. Really nothing serious, IMHO

And what car would not do this?.......This seems to be more of a complaint against the laws of Physics than with a Car.

I have a 2012 3.8 Premium:

1. Most annoying is the amount of pedal pressure needed to get a downshift as well as the actual time it takes to get the downshift. Shifting on the way up is smooth and pleasant;

2. I find the seat to be comfortable overall (shape and padding density are good) but would like a little more adjustment range and a little farther extension from the electric wheel;

3. Passenger seat with more adjustments and features;

4. Ride is firm and solid. Highway ride could be steadier. It takes bumps well but I would like it to move around less;

5. Easily flustered radio/phone integration (and slow);

6. My mileage has been far less than the rated mileage and I am not an aggressive driver, however, I feel that this is part of the transmission calibration and am praying for a fix;

7. Luxury car but Hyundai service.

Overall a great car for the price and I happy I purchased it regardless of the items it needs to meet its potential.

yes, the damn thing does drip! My Acura had the all the water go straight back and down the appropriate channels, unfortunately then it hit the bumper and dripped on my feet!

a note on gas mileage. I have hit 31mpg on the highway with standard Michelin Saver A/S tires, not sure what your car came with.

I have since switched to less efficient Continental DWS and have hit 29mpg.

My combined NYC driving average is around 16MPG.

On the highway the car is a champ.

1. Both mirrors go down on reverse, no choice of left or right

Did they change that in the 2012? In the 2009, where you put the 'left/neutral/right' mirror switch dictates the behaviour of the mirrors. According to the 2009 manual:
- left causes both outside rearview mirrors to move down on reverse
- right causes only the passenger side mirror to go down
- neutral disables the automatic lowering of the mirrors

I guess that's new. For me, left or right forces both mirrors down on reverse, it's really annoying.

Picky,picky,picky..... why not go for a Mercedes or an Audi at much greater cost, still will be annoyances. I'll bet.

Yep, I know first hand.
