18" center cap question

Ok, I am a little slow and as such confused. I have a 2012 Sedan with 18" wheels. I want to replace the "H" center caps not the entire lug nut cover. Which ones are best and what is the replacement process. Thanks in advance!

Note orig. post that he has 18" wheels with center caps that cover lug nuts. The center 17/19 caps will not work unless a person has time and know how to do the swap using an oven and shop tools. Its not worth the time for 118.00 for a set.

They are made for a very thin metal disc that will not lay flat on the center of the hub. When you remove the hub for wheel balancing or tire service you have to be extremely careful not to press on the emblem during removal and replacement as it will dent and is I almost impossible to remove the dent.

By the way the 18” wheel has a 72 mm opening for the center hub covers to fit in, while the 17” wheel has a 67 mm opening.

Thanks to all replies. I do believe this is what I need. As I understand it, I can just pry out the "H" and pop these in to the hub? Sorry for being so anal, I would be sick if I damaged the 3 wk old car. BTW, this is an awesome site for us owners who are mechanical midgets!

Yup, just grab a hair dryer to heat the cap up 1st, and then pry up the OEM cap. Probably want to tape off the edge of the wheel so you don't scratch it too.

Try this thread, it starts on page two and goes on from there and should help you with the install.

As said the center metal cap cover can be swapped with the wing cap cover of the 17/19. The process takes heating up each plastic cap( the 18 and 17/19 caps) remove the "H" metal piece that is attached with 3m glue patch. Heat and remove the wing cap from the plastic 17/19 insert then place the wing metal cap onto the clean 18" cover that you removed the "H" from. Takes time and be careful not to bend the metal wing caps when removing them. Its easier just spend the 120.00. I did the swap when the price for a set of center wing caps for 18's was well over 200.00. Price is down now.

These caps I have listed above are the exact same ones I had on my 18 inch wheels, but I bought the R Spec wheels and have transfered them to the 19's now. Like Stone said, you can go either way, spend a little bit of time on the caps, or purchase the whole entire center cap with the wing emblem already on.

Scott, I am running TSW Sentterton Chrome 18X8 40mm offset Wheels on my 2011 sedan and was trying to cover the TSW center hub with Genesis wing caps. These TSW hubs are smooth and fairly flat.

I guess the coupe wheel hub have more of a curvature to them. They work, but as I said, you have to be extremely careful not to put any pressure on them, because you will dent them if you do.

Do you think the wheel hubs you recommended (http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Hyundai-Ge...9e1076&vxp=mtr) would lay any flatter after heating them an removing the winged covers?

I think this depends on weather your wheel hubs are flat vs having any curve at all. If the hub center is flat and is the same size as the wing emblem I think they should work fine. They are cheap enough to experiement with

The ones you need are clearly noted as 18" and cost $100+. Homeofstone gave you the correct source.

What am I missing or misunderstanding? They worked on the 18" wheels and 19" wheels for under $30? Help me out, as I must be having a brain fart today.

The 18" wheel cover that includes also covering the lug nut is one piece it does not have just a center insert like the 17" and 19" wheels.
