What's on your mind?
A dealership replaced the engine oil with conventional oil back in January 2020 with 32127 miles . I bought the car a few months ago with 32400 miles, so not driven much, conventional oil has been in for about 9 months. What should i do ? Replace it with full synthetic oil as soon as possible or just wait 3k miles than replace? Someone said you you go by months if you dont drive a lot of miles, dont want old oil in for long. I cant believe they even used conventional. I need very good suggestions on what to do members ?

It is mostly a mileage and extended interval thing. It does not perform miracles. Note they say it is not suitable for some engines but no reason why. If you change on a regular basis you may even be better off with out it.

So sir in other words its not a deal breaker whatsoever? Acea A5/b5 doesnt protect the engine better per se ? The most important is the grade , acea A5/b5 is negligible??Page 8-7. Don't get hung up on it though. They also state:

As the subject says - getting attached messages after manually updating (May maps/update) the car. I let the Maps/MM OTA expire, b/c I don't mind doing this manually and I see little value in paying for it - but NOW, with this latest update, it seems to indicate that it uses online only and falls back to off-line maps only for connectivity issues... and even though (I checked) the Map OTA subscription doesn't say anything about this feature, I'm wondering - anyone else see these msgs? Or, am I the only one who let the Maps OTA subscription lapse? I _did_ dbl-check with the USB, says it's the same version as to what I have.

I’ve been looking at upgrading my older G80 to a 2026 model, and while I love almost everything about the refresh, I’m really torn on the new interior layout.
Specifically, the huge 27" OLED screen that runs across the entire dashboard.
I know the reviews are raving about it looking futuristic, but to me, it feels like Genesis is falling into the same trap as everyone else by just slapping a giant screen on the dash. I always loved how the older models had the infotainment screen beautifully recessed into the dashboard. It felt classy, minimalist, and very integrated.
This new one feels like it just sits on top of the dash like an afterthought. It doesn't feel right to me. Plus, for those who already have it, how bad is the glare on sunny days? Do you find yourself constantly wiping fingerprints off the passenger side of the glass?
Curious to hear if anyone else actually prefers the older, more traditional luxury look, or if I'm just being old fashioned.

Does anyone know how to remove the side skirt on a 2023 G80? I am having trouble with area under the doors. I have the bottom edge loose, but I do not see how to get the top edge of the skirt loose under the doors.

I am posting for my son who has a 2015 Hyundai Genesis, essentially a G80, with many shared parts.
His electrically-driven power steering has failed, and the Hyundai dealer has quoted $8,000 to replace it. That is about the value of the car if everything was working and it was sold in a private transaction! It doesn't make sense financially to put that much money into it.
He can find the part online for about $1000.
Does anyone know of a shop that will work on a Hyundai Genesis (and/or Genesis, my G90 will be out of extended warranty someday)?
The independent shops here in Tupelo, MS have more business than they know what to do with and refused to look at it for diagnosis and repair.

Hi. I'm usually on Genesis Owners about my 2019 G90, but today I need some help troubleshooting my son's 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8. The local Hyundai dealer refuses to work on it despite it being a Hyundai (they don't have the Genesis dealership) and previously selling them, as they say they've had "bad luck working on them". Same for the dealer an hour South. The dealer at which I bought my G90 has the worst customer service of ANY business I've ever done business with, despite going through a new service manager every year. I cannot get a return call (of someone on the phone) while they have my car last time for 8 of the 12 weeks they had it, and in the end, they still didn't get the trunk issue I've had since purchase fixed. So, they're not an option. The next closest is Cool Springs in South Nashville, 3.5 hours away, but just drove by them today and it looks like the shop is in a complete demolition/rebuild.
My son has tried to troubleshoot this himself by purchasing a code reader and even dropped it for a few weeks at the local import car maintenance shop, and got a call that they could not reproduce the complete lack of power steering that happens unpredictably.
He is thinking of purchasing a used electric power steering rack (he says this is the first year or two the Genesis had electric steering rather than hydraulic) and just getting the local import dealer to replace it for him.

According to posters on FaceBook, a limited number of recalls on the fuel rail issue have been performed. Owners stated that they took their cars in for regular oil changes or other items, and the dealers examined, tightened and/or replaced the leaking connectors. One owner said that Genesis had contracted with SnapOn tools to make a specialized wrench for the techs to use to set the proper torque on the connections. Another stated that his leak was repaired with new parts. There is sufficient traffic in this area to believe that a solution has started to ship. If anyone has more definitive information, please share.

We replaced a 2019 Lexus UX 200! We bought it new, and was a terrific no problem car!. Hoping we get a similar experience with the Genesis! 
The UX is a nice car - but the GV70 - that's a big upgrade. Congratulations! Lexus does have a great reputation for reliability - though I've found they're always quite late to the game when it comes to technology. Probably one of the reasons their vehicles has so few issues. They want until every other brand has worked out the bugs...We replaced a 2019 Lexus UX 200! We bought it new, and was a terrific no problem car!. Hoping we get a similar experience with the Genesis!

Thrilled to be part of this family and looking forward to contributing and sharing my thoughts regarding Genesis! I just purchased a 2024 G90 with 29k (non-CPO) and I'm amazed and pleased with the vehicle. Took the car to the local Genesis dealer for a recall; no issues, and the job was done perfectly (I really like this Genesis dealer service department). Anyway, the finance department quoted me almost $5k for a next 5-year extended warranty or 75k, but I still have almost 3 years and 20k miles of manufacturer warranty left on it. When's a good time to shop for an extended warranty, and from whom? TIA!

1. If you still have 3 yrs and 20k left I wouldn't get it yet. In essence you would be paying for extra coverage that you already have. The additional coverage starts from the day you purchase it not when the manufacturer's warranty ends. So if your manufacturer's warranty were to last for three years, if purchased now, you would be buying a two year extended warranty. The only plus if you were to get it now would be it would be a little less expensive. The higher the mileage, the more costly the warranty.
Having almost 3 yrs left is great but, depending on how much you drive, it would not be hard to put 20k on in a year or two. If you think you will put that 20k on in the not to distant future, in the long run, it may be cheaper to get the extra warranty sooner rather than later.
2. In either case, I have heard but don't know for sure that if you try to purchase an extended warranty after the manufacturer's warranty (yrs or mileage) expires, they will not sell you one. Again, I am not sure if this is correct.
In my case i have a 23 GV80 with maybe 2 years left on the manufacturer's warranty. My mileage really is not an issue in that I only have 36k on it.
I am however planning on purchasing a contract in the not to distant future though because the higher the mileage the more costly the plan is. As of right now if I were to purchase the Genesis platinum for 5 yrs 100k it would cost me $3744. If I wait until I have 46k the 5 yr 100k is not available. A 5 yr 60k would cost $5739. That is quite the difference. All figures BTW are from Genesis' site.
Interesting note. I just played with the numbers and the key mileage appears to be anything over 40k for the 5yr 100k. I put in 40k and it gave me it. I then put in 40950 miles and the 5yr 100k was gone only 5yr 60k was available. So it looks like I'm going to be purchasing one soon. So with what you said they quoted you, I would bet you are already over 40k mileage wise.
I am actually glad you posted this. It made me look up my numbers. It just save me a good amount of money.
If I was you, I would go to the Genesis site and play with the mileage and numbers and see what you get before making any decision.

By the way, what did the G90 replace for you? It's really a beautiful car.
