That is about $2900USD. way out of line. Any local mechanic can do a good brake job. Many sources for good parts also that they will use. Those rotors are about $200 to $300

I don't know if they ship to Canada but you can do some comparisons here

Thrilled to be part of this family and looking forward to contributing and sharing my thoughts regarding Genesis! I just purchased a 2024 G90 with 29k (non-CPO) and I'm amazed and pleased with the vehicle. Took the car to the local Genesis dealer for a recall; no issues, and the job was done perfectly (I really like this Genesis dealer service department). Anyway, the finance department quoted me almost $5k for a next 5-year extended warranty or 75k, but I still have almost 3 years and 20k miles of manufacturer warranty left on it. When's a good time to shop for an extended warranty, and from whom? TIA! 🚗💨 #Family #Thoughts #Genesis #Vehicle #Recall #Service #Warranty #Miles

Some thoughts for you based on my experience.

1. If you still have 3 yrs and 20k left I wouldn't get it yet. In essence you would be paying for extra coverage that you already have. The additional coverage starts from the day you purchase it not when the manufacturer's warranty ends. So if your manufacturer's warranty were to last for three years, if purchased now, you would be buying a two year extended warranty. The only plus if you were to get it now would be it would be a little less expensive. The higher the mileage, the more costly the warranty.

Having almost 3 yrs left is great but, depending on how much you drive, it would not be hard to put 20k on in a year or two. If you think you will put that 20k on in the not to distant future, in the long run, it may be cheaper to get the extra warranty sooner rather than later.

2. In either case, I have heard but don't know for sure that if you try to purchase an extended warranty after the manufacturer's warranty (yrs or mileage) expires, they will not sell you one. Again, I am not sure if this is correct.

In my case i have a 23 GV80 with maybe 2 years left on the manufacturer's warranty. My mileage really is not an issue in that I only have 36k on it.

I am however planning on purchasing a contract in the not to distant future though because the higher the mileage the more costly the plan is. As of right now if I were to purchase the Genesis platinum for 5 yrs 100k it would cost me $3744. If I wait until I have 46k the 5 yr 100k is not available. A 5 yr 60k would cost $5739. That is quite the difference. All figures BTW are from Genesis' sit.

Interesting note. I just played with the numbers and the key mileage appears to be anything over 40k for the 5yr 100k. I put in 40k and it gave me it. I then put in 40950 miles and the 5yr 100k was gone only 5yr 60k was available. So it looks like I'm going to be purchasing one soon. So with what you said they quoted you, I would bet you are already over 40k mileage wise.

I am actually glad you posted this. It made me look up my numbers. It just save me a good amount of money.

If I was you, I would go to the Genesis site and play with the mileage and numbers and see what you get before making any decision.

Hope this helps a bit. And, there are other members that have more knowledge of this than me. I may not be 100% correct on everything.

Thank you for informing, I'm in Norcal bay area & Genesis doesn't offer California residents extended warranty on line, you have to go to a Genesis dealer to purchase one. And yes if my car's odometer reads 50001 I will not be able to buy extended warranty.
In next 3 years I might drive 15k to 18k miles. This is a weekend car. So I guess I'll wait couple of more years & than try buying extended warranty.

I would recommend the GPP or HPP if you can get it from Genesis/Hyundai. It is the best one & way to get - it is just too bad it doesn't extend it as much as did when it was under the Hyundai nameplate.

If you don't or can't get the GPP - then here is the best I can advise:

Avoid anything with "shield" or "guard" in the name. You are in for an uphill battle almost every time. Instead - go with:

Endurance (though I have read reports on a few forums that they are getting tougher to get approvals from)
Fidelity
Zurich (pricey but approves everything pretty much, without a fight)
Route 66

Anything else I would skip. You can contact the companies above directly.
I know that this has been discussed years earlier, but I need some advice on where to go to handle the following issue: After standing a day or two, brake pedal is very hard to depress and car doesn't start, initially. However, the car eventually will start after applying extreme pressure on the brake pedal, and once started there are absolutely no problems with the brakes...smooth brake depression and stopping normally. But, if the car isn't used for couple of days, then the hard brake pedal/starting issue is back. This has been going on for about 6 months. I have extensively AI'd this issue and firmly believe that because everything is normal, except for the tough start, that the problem is caused by brake booster pressure leaks from the hoses, their connections, or the check valve. Because, once the car starts and brake function is quite normal (as is the electrical system...radio, lights, etc), AI is very strongly pointing at the check valve as the culprit and not the booster brake drum (which is a high dollar item). Although, I know that AI can make mistakes, given the car's consistent normal brake performance, I believe that AI is correct in its diagnosis. So, what's my problem?

Where do I take the car for repair; be it an indy or Genesis? Being so sure about check valve replacement correcting the issue, the fix seems rather straight forward and simple (my DIY days are over as replacing the valve is not difficult and the valve is reasonably priced), but I am fearful of being ripped off. The indys I spoke to all talk about a lot of diagnosis and replacement of the Booster itself, whereas I feel, given the info I have researched and the overall normal brake performance, that the repair should entail checking for hose/connection leaks and then, if needs be, replace the check valve. Of course, if this doesn't work, then they can go further. Would like to hear your thoughts on how I should proceed. Thanks.

As the subject says - getting attached messages after manually updating (May maps/update) the car. I let the Maps/MM OTA expire, b/c I don't mind doing this manually and I see little value in paying for it - but NOW, with this latest update, it seems to indicate that it uses online only and falls back to off-line maps only for connectivity issues... and even though (I checked) the Map OTA subscription doesn't say anything about this feature, I'm wondering - anyone else see these msgs? Or, am I the only one who let the Maps OTA subscription lapse? I _did_ dbl-check with the USB, says it's the same version as to what I have.

Sadly with the bigger motors its going to have even less range than the current performance. It really needs a bigger battery and I just don't think they have the space in the current e-gmp skateboard to accommodate that. It might just be me but I can't seem to justify the price premium and get less range. I already have enough power to make my neighbor with a Porsche Macan GTS upset that he can't beat me at the stoplight :).
Nonetheless, I don't think they will sell many and to that point I am concerned the GV60 in general might not survive another model year and go the way of the Kia EV6.

The tariff situation in the US threw a major wrench into the product planning works at many manufacturers.

Given the typical multi-year development timeframe for most new cars, it’s a terrible time to be an automaker selling cars not built in the US, like the GV60.

I agree our GV60 is quick off the line, but the Macan GTS can also do 0-60 in 3.7. In terms of handling/performance I think that's where the similarities end and the Macan wins hands down. I've always said that I believe the GV60 is straight line fast, but it's also just a cruiser and not a real performance vehicle.

Do you take your car to the track and race it? If so, you have the wrong car; otherwise why would you care which car is a second faster to 60 or pulls a tad better in g forces or the like?

I don’t, my point is in everyday handing and performance, our cars are quick but not a true “performance” car. They are nice luxury cruisers.

Sure, but that doesn't explain the situation here in Canada. Unless that's strictly due to low sales here. I've had mine 2 years now and have seen only one other GV60 around here.

Not just you, I was visiting the mothership (Korea) a couple of months ago. I saw tons of Genesis vehicles, lots of Ioniq 5s and exactly one GV60 during my 2 week stay in Seoul. I saw more new Ferraris than GV60s,lol.

I saw the car and driver article estimating 220 miles of range, man that is kind of sad given competitive vehicles with similar performance and specs have EPA ratings above 300 miles. I could be wrong but these are still EVs and range is still kind of a thing.

I hated to drill holes too, so I ordered one of these from Amazon. I then used zip-ties to secure it to the front grill. But I didn't want to use the metal ties supplied because I didn't want to risk scratching the grill. Instead, I used some plastic ties I already had.

Went to dealer. Who pointed out two tiny holes in bumper. They aligned with the (included) plate holder. Dealer mounted it all no problem. Whew

You probably do have to drill. There should be ... I think 3? divots in the front somewhere to drill and then use the included screws.

Anyone have any luck sourcing a trailer hitch for the GV70?

I’ve been looking at this hitch also and it does look better than other options including the awful OEM that Genesis sells. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. UHaul in our area sells and installs it. You need to look at the spec sheet on the UHaul site to see what it looks like (same photos as in this post).

I’m still amazed that they redesigned the back end of the 2026 GV70 2.5 a bit, but didn’t include a hidden hitch.

I just purchased a 2023 GV70 (obviously used and still in transit) but while shopping for the "right" vehicle I always check to see if a receiver hitch can be installed on the vehicle as I carry a lot of road/gravel/mtbs bicycles. So some models can be tricky...as an example, most Alfa Romeo Stelvios you can, but if you step up to the Quadrifoglio, you can't - it's the exhaust system. I knew that the offerings for the GV70 in the US did not provide a form factor all that great but was not aware that other markets (Europe/Australia/Korea) had better options - very frustrating.

As for the slight redesign and no better solution, I gotta believe it's that the crash worthiness and testing has already been done (2022 - 2025) and baked in and there is absolutely no way that they are redoing that to satisfy what is in reality a small number of buyers. This may also explain why other markets get better solutions...the crash requirements/testing are different and therefore they get different designs (somewhat hidden or better looking).

FWIW, I plan to purchase a CURT from eTrailer as they seem to have the best price and that's where I purchased all my receiver hitches, although a UHaul shop could be an option, but no way I'm letting those guys install on my "new" car.

If I recall the UHaul hitch receiver is the same as the Curt hitch receiver.

If I get a small trailer with electric brakes / lights, is there a standard plug (or any plug) on the GV70 (2026) end for wiring it up?

I got a CURT hitch installed, it looks much better than OEM or Draw-Tite versions. The hitch was installed by U-Haul, hoping to take advantage of their $5 life time warranty on the hitch at some point when it gets rusty. Wiring harness is from Genesis, dealer wanted $600 CAD for installation, had it done outside for $200.

Looks neat. Where did you buy the hitch from and do you have the exact part number? How as the install experience from u-haul?
szeldov
Hitch was provided by U-Haul ($395 for the part + $182 installation) but here is Amazon link for it: amazn.so/M3ixQEp
No complaints about U-Haul experience and $5 lifetime hitch warranty sounds too good of an offer to ignore.

It seems like most people have overlooked the fact that the GV70 has laminated acoustic glass on the windshield and front door windows (and on the rear door windows in the top trim). Naturally acoustic glass is going to cost more than regular glass, and is likely to be less readily available. Acoustic glass also reflects IR and UV rays, allowing only natural light to pass through. I haven't had any issues so far with any of my GV70s' windshields. *fingers crossed*

Where did you hear this? The windshield glass has to be laminated - "acoustic" or not - it's the law required by NHTSA. And the idea that it reflects IR and UV rays - well - regular glass filters out most of the UV all by itself with no magical properties involved. The only way to reflect IR rays would be a vacuum coating engineered to reflect them, and that would be quite visible in the windshield. That statement sounds like something a service adviser, or dude at the counter at Safeway would say - basically talking out of their butts.

The side glass on the Prestige is "laminated" acoustic glass - just the lamination lessens (but doesn't eliminate) the transfer of sound from the outer glass to the inside glass, it's not magic, euro cars have had it as an option for decades. Dunno on the sunroof (probably since laminated glass rather than tempered would make more sense there, something dropped on it would be less likely to penetrate laminated glass) or rear-hatch (maybe..)

I've gotta remember to look when I go out to the car later - but my WAG is - the glass in the 2024 GV70 models is US glass right from the factory since the GV factory IS in Alabama, and there are several huge auto-glass manufacturers in the US so it wouldn't make any sense to import glass from Korea for a car built in the US. I bet in Korea there are guys complaining about the crappy US glass in their GV70's..

In case anyone forgot - ALL 2024 GV70's (for sale in the US) are manufactured in Alabama. ALL BMW SUVs worldwide are manufactured in South Carolina - I expect we'll see the same from Genesis eventually.

Not sure how you found out I work at Safeway, but that's seriously impressive.

So laminated glass in the windshield is there for impact protection. There is a vinyl layer in between two panes of glass that behaves like a catcher's mitt if something hits it. Its purpose is to absorb impact and to remain bonded to the glass if it breaks. The glass is not strengthened (tempered) like most side, rear, and sunroof glass. Putting laminate in a sunroof may prevent the glass from shattering or falling into the cabin, but it would be a lot more prone to breakage. Just like the windshield is.

The laminated driver/passenger windows are considered and upgrade because it reduces sound transfer. I've been working in glass for 20 years and technically these acoustic layers work. The difference isn't huge, but it's there so long as the seal around it is very tight.

Regarding thickness, yes glass has gotten thinner. The measurement I got when I tried reading the windshield was 4.7mm. For reference, my 1970 Corvette windshield that is 7.1mm. So each pane of glass in the windshield is just over 2mm (not sure how thick the laminate interlayer is). Yes this glass will be more delicate than the 3mm or so versions from years back. Every square foot of 1mm glass weighs about 1/2lb

Long story short - yes glass has gotten thinner over the years. It will be somewhat more prone to breakage because it's thinner and less likely prone to breakage because of glass quality. There are still strength ranges that glass can be within to be acceptable, so theoretically is likely to vary batch to batch.

BTW the laminated driver/passenger glass in the GV70 is 4.1mm thick. So each of those glass panes are each less than 2mm thick.

Yes, a rock hit my windshield and in minuets the star from the rock turned into a full blow streak across the windshield. Had to purchase a new windshield. Today, I’m on my second rock chip. I’ve had my previous cars for years (10+) and they still have rock chips that do not streak across the windshields as quickly. all I can say is the material on the windshields is not durable.

I'm in the same boat. Where did you go? I got an estimate from Safelite and Auto Glass Now. Safelite is going to be around $900 after $90off code while AGN is going to be around $800 after their code. I'm wondering if the aftermarket windshields are going to be better than OEM because this is my second chip. I haven't even asked the dealership because I can assume it will be double the price. And maybe OEM is inferior glass.
