  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looks like your in South Carolina

Yeah, I think his name "CHFM" stands for "Carolina Hyundai of Fort Mill". That's about 12-15 miles south of Downtown Charlotte, NC (that's a "top-of-my-head" guess on the distance, but feels about right).

ahh, that makes sense. Seems like a good deal for someone looking for an '09

So if I have the numbers right, slightly above 38K before the standard fees, taxes, etc. for a 4.6. Decent.

You are correct, say on a 4.6 with tech retails at $42,050.00 would be slightly above $38,300.00 plus tax,tag doc fee, and any dealer options.

While this may be a decent deal, I definitely don't think it is a great deal. I was able to get a 2009 V8 Tech for $37,900 in Chicago 6 weeks ago when there were no 2010 models with absolutely no bargaining at all. I think it could have been lower if I tried to bargain, but I didn't feel that it was necessary. With the 2010 models now showing up everywhere, I believe you can get a V8 Tech car for lower that what CHFN's dealer is offering. I think someone got a similar car recently for $37,500. With all the 2009 models left, I think people should shop around for a better deal because $750 is definitely not a very good deal.

Couldn't agree more. My dealer says "special pricing" on '09s is coming. It wouldn't surprise my if Hyundai offered Associate Pricing on them, which is 2% under invoice. That translates to 37,300 for an 8 with tech.
Otoh, we (Chicago area) have more competition here. Maybe the Carolinas get away with this due to smaller market?
But if it's a Hyundai "program" coming, this pricing is not good.

I agree . . . . . .with you both. Thus the use of "decent" and not great. I know members of this forum have done better. Some months ago. With the 10's showing up daily, $750 below invoice is a "decent" starting price!

As for the smaller market comment, we have quite a few Hyundai dealerships here in the Carolinas. Some will deal, and some certainly won't. Case in point, I live near Raleigh and bought in Columbia. That would be Columbia, SC.

Since I've been busy playing devil's advocate today, there are a few more things to keep in mind...

In general, whenever you get pricing under invoice, it means that either the dealer is selling at a loss (not that likely) or there's other money in play (from the manufacturer, hold-back, low trade-in value, add-ons, financing, etc.). Since these companies are in the business to make money (and since usually sales staff need to make money on the deal in order to get paid), it's unlikely that you're going to get an unbelievable deal without them making money from somewhere.

In my case, I got my V6 for $1k under invoice in the spring, but I know they shorted me on my trade. But since I didn't want to hassle with a private sale, I didn't care.

I managed to get 1K under invoice on my base model V6 right here in Columbia, SC back in Sept 2008 when a lot of places didn't seem to be dealing much on the Genesis. I think I could beat that now (maybe could have beat it then but my time is worth money too) so I would agree that $750 below is good STARTING point, but perhaps a good buy if you don't feel like haggling. I've purchased cars with both major haggling to get the best deal, but sometimes I just want to get it done and over with so a good deal that's within a few percentage point of the "best" deal is good enough.

If people are worried about the dealer low balling you on the trade in, I would suggest that you go get a quote from Carmax. Those quotes are usually good for 1 week and under 200 extra miles. I have always had good luck with Carmax. In fact they gave me $2000 over KBB value for my 03 G35 with 105k miles recently. Also, one should always settle on the new car's price before talking about the trade-in value and financing details. I usually also get my own pre-approved financing before I start any negotiations. If you do all these things, there aren't that many ways for the dealers to pull their tricks on you.

I purchased my 2009 for 3K under invoice!

500 bucks does not seem overly generous to me!

Just to let you know the invoice on this car is $39,111 at 2% under would only be $38,328.78 not $37,300 don't really know where your getting your figures. Not trying to start a argument just pointing the facts.

Associate Pricing, via Think Tank, was $37,3xx plus destination. I wouldn't make that up, others here can confirm it. I believe your invoice # includes destination. Am I that far off?

Maybe CHFM is looking at the invoice price that the general public may have access to. If that is the case, CHFM numbers are closer. I am not sure the general public has access to the Accociate Pricing. Too bad for us!

Yes destination charges are included didin't know you had not included them,so if you are saying $37,300 plus tax tag and destination charges you are correct.I just came on here to list a price to start with and we were trying to move out tha 09 sedans some people maybe giving them away maybe some even taking a loss. the price we are doing -$750.00 under invoice is a starting point.
