  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hope this hasn't been covered....I've read nearly all of the warranty and extended warranty related threads previously and don't recall this being addressed.

As the second owner of a Hyundai, I understand that I formally would not be provided the 10/100 powertrain portion of the original factory warranty, unless it's a CPO. However, how would/does Hyundai know that the car has changed hands and therefore know to eliminate that portion of the car's warranty package from "the system" unless I were to call them directly? Do the Hyundai dealers automatically do that for them when you go in for service, repairs, etc?

Thanks

When the original owner purchases the car, that VIN is logged in their system to match with the name of that owner. If you take the car in, they will pull the VIN and figure out you are not the original owner.

Yes because the state registration information for owners is sent to the manufacturers in case of recalls or safety issues.

If the title never changed hands, then they wouldn't know.

Great , thanks folks. Guess there is no way around it....My car has the tech pkg, so I guess I'm destined for the HPP extended service contract anyway.

You can't get that warranty unless it's CPO or you are the original owner.
