  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

12.5 Map Update

Who told you this? There has been no recall from Mapnsoft. If there was, there would be revision already available. There is no problem with the G80 9.2 update. Mapnsoft will contact you directly by email if there was a recall. They did this once before but not on this update.

Mapnsoft told me this! But I don’t have the 9.2, I hav3 the 8.0.

THIS VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY UP-TO-DATE OR NO UPDATE IS AVAILABLE. - NA.11.47.44.462 (Version 12.5) No recall for the 9.2" Nav. Maybe for 8.0 but not the 9.2 Nav.

Something was going on. The web site said there was an update. A week later, it said none was available. A couple of weeks later it was available again.

Evidently is not for the 9.2 but the 8.0.

Ed I might believe with all the server issues with Genesis and Hyundai and the updating of the sites, the Genesis Mapnsoft site was effected. Just a guess mind you but a good probability never-the-less. I received the same update during the week before the site issues and it's the same update after.

Several people called in and reported back here that the update was pulled before thanksgiving due to a software issue and it would be corrected and re-released.

I have 2017 G80 w/ 8 inch screen, no issues & both 12 & 12.5 updates paid for by Genesis!

What I've noticed so far with the 12.5 update on a G80 Ultimate:
  1. Radio volume decreases when putting the vehicle in reverse. Previously the volume did not decrease.
  2. CarPlay now briefly shows track name and artist name when viewing any screen other than the CarPlay screen. Previously only the track name and shuffle/random icons were displayed.
  3. The map has a slightly different color scheme.
  4. When not moving (perhaps when in park specifically) the map shows a search box in the upper right corner. Previously there was no search box.

Got asked a couple of times where the messaging settings are after the 12.5 update. They are under the Bluetooth settings (can get there from Phone menu too). View attachment 16823
What is the new message Notification feature that is enabled when installing the Map 12.5 update?
Does this show a note on the screen when receiving a text message on a paired device?

I'm familiar with CarPlay (have to plug into USB port/cable) and sending/receiving text messages, but this appears to be a new feature.
I'm using an IOS/Apple iphone. Since the latest Navigation update I see this option and have enabled it, but not seeing any change in functionality.
I have enabled the G80 Bluetooth "Show Notifications" setting on my iphone.

After the 12.5 update I do get text messages on the nav screen without CarPlay or Android auto. The quick reply feature when I tried it did not work from the nav screen. I have a Galaxy S9.

What year G80? My 2018 did that from new, two map updates ago.

2018. Mine never did.

My radio volume always went down when I put the car into reverse. It's done that since new. It never occurred to me that this in any way was associated with the map version. I assume this it to lower the distraction level when backing up.

it is to lower the distraction level.

the 12.5 map update is also a software update that adds new features to the vehicle. If someone had an older software version where that was not part of the options, then it is new to them.

it is also possible that the feature was disabled in his car, and when the software update it reset things to the default settings. Which enabled it.

FWIW, when my car was being repaired from being rear ended, my battery was out of the car for 5 weeks, when they plugged it back in the car rest to factory defaults, everything in the dash and infotainment was in Korean.

luckily I have Korean friends that were able to get it back to English for me, I tried guessing for about 30 minutes and got fed up.,

Just hung up with Genesis customer service and was told the same thing as last week: The programers had to recall the update due to programing errors that would screw up the radios with the 8.0 screen. I was told that the cars with the 9.2 are able to do the upgrade without problems.

I was told to call back at the end of the month.

Either that's what Genesis has told these people to say OR its true about the programing problems!

Who knows!

My wife car has the new chip. We ordered it and they put it in. It took about month to come in. The dealer STATED that if it was to stop or if the battery became low and or if someone turned the car off. It would fry the system. Now was said by the dealer. It took about 45 min to install.

That’s a well known and documented behavior on al car makes/models. Always advised to do the update when you are driving somewhere for > 30 minutes.

This is setting is called "Backup-up Warning Priority" and can be found at [HOME] > [Setup] > [Sound] > [Volume Ratio]. See page 136 in the DIS Navigation System manual. I had disabled this setting after purchasing my 2018 G80 Sport with 9.2" HD touchscreen. As part of my recent Navigation 12.5 update, this setting was re-enabled. This morning I simply re-disabled this setting.

Interesting, because I never had this setting prior to this latest update. So my guess is my vehicle, which I believe sat around for a while before I came along and purchased it, must have had an older firmware version installed. The 12.5 update was the first update I applied to the maps and the system.
