  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Came back from clinicals and I parked my car by the street. I got a ticket for parking on the street without a front liscense plate and The officer put the make as a Bentley lol ( Dumb Officer). I drive 13 Base Genny sedan haha. Do you guys think I have a chance of getting out of the ticket.

From what I understand, you may be able to get out of the ticket. Not sure if would need a lawyer though.

If the VIN# and Plate Number are correct pay fine and move on.

If the cop has your rear plate correct, and the reg comes back to your car, I'd suspect your paying.

If you put a front plate on the car and take a pic of it to your court date, you can show it to the judge and show him proof you have a Hyundai, and claim the cop was obviously confused, and ask that the ticket be dismissed. In fact, you could claim that anyone who confuses a Hyundai for Bentley should have a medical checkup.

If you are not willing to put a plate on the front and keep it installed, I would pay the ticket by mail and don't drive anywhere near the police or court house.

If they make any errors on the paperwork including your sex, the make of vehicle, tag, ect the ticket is void. Since clearly you don't own a Bently that ticket can't be referring to your car. Go to court and fight the ticket, worst case you wasted 2 hours and still have to pay but I'm almost 100 percent sure your set. Congrats on getting a stupid pig to write you a ticket!

Go to traffic court and you will find the inevitable -- the judge is always right - whether he's right or wrong.

Follow the money trail - as always - and they want your money

That is probably true, but if the judge asks you whether there is now a front license plate, and you reply "no" then I think the ticket will stick. The OP will have put on the front license plate if he wants to go to court.

Be aware that most "cameras" now date and location stamp the pic. Judge might eat you for breakfast if you try to pull a fast one.

Yeah. I dont think there were cameras around that area. Well I opened dispute online I will see how it goes.

If the VIN & plate number are correct on the ticket, as noted above, the judge will almost certainly eat you for breakfast.

How would he do this? Maybe by tacking on a $hundred or so in court costs. I would call ahead about just that possibility.

Remember: The court is part of the money-generating machine - dispensing justice is a very remote second consideration.

Maybe. But considering that the ticket is defective, if the OP cures the offense (adds a front license plate and provides a pic to the judge) the ticket might be dismissed. I am pretty sure that a lawyer could get the ticket dismissed, but obviously that would be cost prohibitive.

Juvenile slap at the police, yes?

Reminds me of a Lawyer that said - "Not guilty as charged"

Agreed: uncalled for comment. Also seems ignorant of the fact that when you lose this "case", you also have to pay court costs - so it not just "worst case you wasted 2 hours and still have to pay" - you'll actually end up paying a lot more!

Be glad that the officer/ticket writer was automotive challenged. I googled images for 2015 Bentley's and except for the goofy little grille, the cars are completely different.

The Bentley is built like a tank - the Genesis is sleek and pretty.

Oh - and the ticket - you only fight things like this if your driver's license is at stake.

You're lucky you didn't get a ticket for switching your license tags from a Hyundai to a Bentley!! ;-)

Call it what you want, if there is wrong info on a ticket you won't have to pay, I personally beat a ticket like that. Pig is a pig call it what you want.
I don't agree with your pig comment, but I agree that ticket can be beat. However, the problem must be cured by the court date (a front license plate must be installed).
