  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

ABEL Racing designed and installed this Cone Air Intake (CAI) today and we dynoed before and after results. CAI gives 15 Wheel Horsepower (15whp).

* removed stock airbox assembly
* add CAI

We did dyno with MSA cat delete pipes for another 15whp gain.

Total, 30whp gains is amazing. The car is stock quiet at idle and normal driving. When you really put your foot in it, you finally hear that great V8! I am surprised how perfect this set up is. No droning in car or funny noises.

PM me for your ABEL Racing CAI kit!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I moved this topic from the Wheels, Tires, Detailing and Appearance Modifications forum to here. A cold air intake has nothing to do with wheels, tires, detailing and/or appearance modifications...

Ordered the electric exhausts valves today with down pipes. This will allow "full open"exhaust at the push of a button.

Nice find, hood motor cues were programmed into the cabin of the 2012 BMW M5 because the twin turbos cancelled out the roar of the 580BHP motor that quite honestly, handles like a damn Champion.

Who gives a rat's behind. Were you run off the BMW forums for incessant yakking about meaningless things??

Yah, the added fake audio hum in the 2012 M5 is silly! Nothing a quick "pull-of-the-fuse" couldn't fix. The 2012 M5 is a monster and improvement over the previous V10. But it still costs a bank and is heavier than a diesel truck...I think.

If money no object, I would have one in my garage!:p

It's obvious he's never owned a BMW or a Genesis.

Hi Driv200-

I just bought a 2012 Genesis 5.0 R-spec, joined this forum and found your post as I was looking for alternatives to the stock exhaust system.

The MSA Cat Delete looks like something it would take about 15 minutes to install. Is there anything to it that isn't apparent?

As to the Abel Racing CAI, for those of us who don't happen to be in OK, do you have any advice on what parts I'd need to install it myself or to have someone more skilled do so?

Many thanks.

Hey KD,

Sorry for late reply. Congrats for Rspec purchase and welcome to club!!!

The MSA cat deletes from motorsportauthority are as easy as advertised. Bolt on ready.

The CAI uses 4" pipe. Nothing out of the ordinary for parts. I am going to eat my words a little and go back to review my comments. I am growing suspicious of heat soak.

Our motors give off a shit ton of heat... monitor your IAT's and AFR's for a while and you'll see what I mean... Heat soak + high IAT = timing retard = loss of power.

It's really that simple

Agreed

how much CRANK horsepower are you putting down with the MSA cat deletes and the Abel intake plus the exhaust cut outs

I figure 460 to the crank - am I right ?

i'm hoping to do a modified straight pipe set up with the MSA cat dele

I'd like to get 460 - 470 to the crank

is it possible ?

Crank hp. determined by Hyundai is 429. This figure was probably reached with an open exhaust and unrestricted intake. Consequently, it is unlikely that any mod we do to our exhaust/intake will increase crank hp.

Why? With no real way to monitor knock - and adjust fuel / timing we're really kind of limited... Face it the Genesis Engineers were really conservative when they tuned this car - and rightfully so because the variety of fuel used by mainstream consumers (not to mention care and maintenance) compared to enthusiast on this board is is not the target demographic.

AFR's which dump into the the 10's on WOT clearly indicate we are in need of tune / engine management software to fully utilize the full potential of this car.

Rey,

I proved in a previous thread "Rspec on Dyno" that adding MSA cat deletes added 15rwhp gains! After another Dyno, proved CAI added another 15rwhp gains. Total real world back to back to back Dyno runs showing each improvement. This was insane and amazing for the money. Our cars are so restrictive with the 4 cats and huge maze of air box & filters.

Each run was cooled off from prior run though so no heat issues. And the hood was up to draw in cool air.

I am going to have Abel work up a cold air box.

hello just recently purchased my hyundai Genesis Sedan 5.0 its a 2012 and im looking for a CAI for it. i ordered mine from r2c and havent recieved it in almost three months. im fed up at this point im looking for something with high quality i seen the Abel racing oone. just wondering where i can get that from or if you guys have any better suggestions other than the weapon R which kinna looks cheap to me .PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Gut the factory air box (cut out the charcoal filter in the lid, remove the magnet flap in the bottom of the box) and replace the accordion tube with a smooth metal bend. The factory panel filter has more filter surface area than almost any cone filter you can fit in that corner and the Tau moves lots of air, the cone filter R2C was providing to the 4.6L Tau was too small, much less surface area than factory (And the 5.0L R2C is the same filter, just MAF-less). This caused 4.6 R2C owners to see very little power gains when the BTR tune came available, meanwhile Tailwalker (with a cone filter bigger than both of our heads put together) and myself (with a modified stock air box) made more gains with the same BTR tune.
