  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was recently involved in an accident. Someone hit the car in front of me and the debris from this accident caused over $15K of damages to my car. The insurance company decided to fix the car.

After a month in the shop I received the car back last Friday. I noticed the low beams only seem to light up about 5-7 feet in front of the car. The light appears to be scattered and looks very uneven. It is hard to describe what I am seeing but it just doesn't seem right at all.

I brought it back to the repair shop and they told me the lights are within spec. Can anyone let me know how their lights are? I was without the car for over a month and dont recall them looking this bad but maybe it's me?

Thanks!

It's not you. The beam pattern (at least HID) are very good. You are the customer, and not satisfied. If you must, contact your insurance cmpany, and or visit a Hundai dealer- go there and experience a new, unwrecked car's headlamps. Don't stop til its right.

Did you get it fixed at a dealership?
Visit a dealership during the evening hours and have them pull up a Genesis next to yours and compare the headlights. Have someone write a letterhead to confirm it's not spec. Have them fix it.

Do you have any pictures of the wreck?

I had to have a headlight replaced about 6 months ago. It has to go into the dealer so the headlight can be linked up with the onboard computer so the auto-leveling will function. If they don't do this it won't function properly, and maybe that's what you are seeing. (Just a guess)

No pictures of the wreck. My phone was broken during it and it happened at 6am on my way back from the gym. Thanks for the advice everyone. I just don't feel safe with such limited visibility!
