If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have been trying to find an option for upgrading the exhaust system on my 2010 3.8L V6 Genesis, it has both the Premium and Tech Package and while I have already done a couple under the hood modifications I'm really looking to make my Genny have a little bit more of rumble...nothing to crazy but just a sweet exhaust note is all I'm looking to achieve while possibly increasing the cars overall performance.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, I see a ton of options for V8's but not much to speak of for the V6's. If you know of any sites can you please link them here...Thank you very much :)

i believe the factory exhaust for the 6 and 8 are the same. the exhaust should be adequate for the 6, im not sure youll see much performance out of a catback system. this being said... you will see some improvement in scavenging by adding a x-over (x-pipe) and eliminating the front resonator, and that may be enough for a little rumble in your trunk.

From what I understand the front section of the exhaust is the culprit for most of the restriction, at least that what the r and d team at borla thinks

Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

I have never heard a V6 that sounds "good" EXCEPT for the stock exhaust note from a 350 or 370Z.

You might try the Magnaflow setup but I would be weary about the sound.

Its like putting a nice exhaust sytem on a V6 Camero or Mustang...everybody knows its a v6...and the same would go for the Genesis as well.

If you could obtain that sound from a 370Z, you would be golden...but good luck finding the system to do so.

Some car habits never change. I remember putting "Hollywood" mufflers on my 52 Chevy and it was sooooo worth it. Good luck finding the right "note".

OMG ! The shame, the shame.

HA! To be honest, I laugh...OUT LOUD...every time I pass one.

My question is: Why spend the money on a "sports car" and get a 4cyl? (NOT factoring in any insurance prices)

For real though: 2010 Mustang GT (BASE) $29K and a 2010 Mustang V6 (premium) is at nearly $26K. So the difference is roughly $3000 and in financing terms at $16.67 per thou, thats an extra $50 a month for a TRUE sports car.

Now, I understand that the new V6's are pretty stout but in years gone by I remember when they were SLOOOOOWWW!

One more thing, I remember when the SS Camero's came out a few years back and people had the option of an SS package with the Vortec V-6. I was SHOCKED at the amount of high school kids who's parents bought in to the whole deal. The only bad thing was when we lined up and my 87 Crown Vic 5.0 would blow their doors off.

Just a little reminiscing and I apologize if I hijacked your thread.:o

Anywho, good luck and remember...THIS IS YOUR CAR and you can do whatever you wish with it! As long as it makes you and momma happy, dont worry what the rest of us think!;)

Thanks for the replies, it's appreciated........

I know that stock exhaust systems can be restrictive to the performance of a car and I was just wondering if anyone had tinkered with their V6's and could provide info on what they did etc... :)

We have Cat Deletes that gain up to 5-6hp.

I think the V6 would sound great with aftermarket exhaust. Seriously:cool: After watching the motortrends comparison for the Genny coupe, v6 mustang, Camaro, and retarted challenger, I realized how good the newer version of the V6 engine can sound. Great!

As I have posted before.....

I say go for it, and if I would have bought the v6, I still would have changed my exhaust just as I did on my V8.
