  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2011 4.6 v8

Guys,

I am looking for a 2011 4.6 V8 owner in the Phoenix and Ontario areas that is open to mods, and is willing to do a test run.

This test will only take a little bit of your time, and will dramatically help the V8 sedan community with previously unavailable tuning options.

A 5.0 owner will be needed in the future, but as of now only the 4.6 is ready for testing.

I can share very little publicly at this time, but i think most of you can catch on to what's going on from my previous posts/comments as well as what I have stated here.

Please understand the nature of this request, and how it will help the community in general. Given this, please keep speculation posts and whatnot to a minimum. When I can share more, I will certainly do so.

This is through a shop that is the front-runner in the industry for this type of work on KDM vehicles, from day to day rides up to SEMA builds. This is the type of R&D that will bring supported, viable products to owners like us. There is a little bit of co-ordination necessary between parties in Korea, hence the multiple locations. I hope to add more locations to the list as they become available.

Please PM me with interest and further information.

Thanks

I have a 2011 4.6 Sedan with a Borla Cat Back that is in desperate need of some sort of chip solution. The transmission shift points are terrible and the car can't get out of it's own way. I am in the Chicago area so if you ever need to borrow my car for testing please let me know. It is my second car so I wouldn't miss it if you needed it for awhile. I will definitely be a buyer for your product when it's done either way.

Thanks

Thank you for the offer - I will let you know if that becomes necessary.

Insofar as the shift points, have you run the car in 'manual' mode for a while? It will 'learn' your driving style. Mine is more than adequate. 1st gear from a stop is a pig, but once i get past 20mph she screams. I think that has more to do with the ESC than anything, and I believe that we will have a disable programmed in. I will keep you posted.

Thanks Tailwalker I will try manual shifting to teach the trans. Whats the ETA on the chip that you are working on? Can you add me to a mailing list so I can be notified when it is released?

I spoke with Christopher Hallmark (BTR) the other day, still nothing of the canned variety yet.

More than likely they will need to do a couple of custom tunes first before nailing down a canned tune.

Yeah, trying to work that out. We were supposed to have a BTR tune event in August, but everyone that signed up has yet to pay so it looks like we are going to lose it. Sucks. I'll have to wait for the next NC event I guess.

I have a 2011 4.6 in the phoenix area. Send me some info if your still looking for one!

Did anything come of this? I'm also interested (2011 4.6), but live in Florida.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Nothing as of yet - we have not been able to locate a V8 where a tune event was scheduled, and everyone backed out of the local event i was to attend. I will keep you all posted as soon as i know more.

I am sitting in one right now. I'm in the Chicagoland area until October and than will be moving to LasVegas. I am more than willing to offer up my 4.6 as a test subject.

Thank you for that. I will be talking with BC this week, so if we can coordinate something while their tuner is in town, i'll let you know. The only concern would be that I have intake and exhaust, which may change things on the tune (you'll be using my ECU). Keep you posted...

Looks like all that BC / BTR follow up is taking its toll :)

LOL. Yeah, I'm all confused. I'll call them both!

Hey Tailwalker I have Intake and Exhaust on my 4.6 as well. Email me when you here something back from BTR.

Is something actually in the works here? Anytime soon?

We're just waiting on the tuner to be in town for the SEMA build. At that point, we'll get together with a local car and get this done.

Gentleman,

The wait is OVER!

I was at BTR yesterday to get my Rigid Collars installed (Perfect Timing) I saw their new Dyno set-up, very cool.

Sam from BTR called me about an hour ago to tell me that their Tuner will be in town next Friday October 2nd, I will be dropping my car off over that weekend to be the test bed for the first ever 4.6 tune. With Luck I will have my car back fully tuned by Monday, October 5th.

I will keep everyone updated, wish me luck for a smooth tune..

Very cool, I'm excited to see the before/after results. I've dealt with Sam in the past, he was very helpful.

Very excited.

Good luck, can't wait to see the results!.

I am praying that he complete the 5.0 ECU work while he is here, so I don't have to steal the Mrs car, especially if they manage to disable the ESC as part of this tune...
