  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2011 Genesis Sedan Changes

A family member just got a new Lincoln MKZ; I am impressed with the Sync system in it. Combine some of that technology with Lexicon sound and I may not come inside the house

You can expect the same body, just a front facelift plus the integrated exhausts in a 2011 model. Maybe....

Yes, photo came from Lakeland Automall yesterday. I had never seen the 2007 prototype/concept picture before. Thanks for clearing that up.

With so many of you stating that you hope the 2011 Genesis' have all those things, and that you all want to get rid of your 2009 or 2010 Genesis', I hope that many of you do either trade off, or turn in your lease on your 2009 or 2010 Genesis, because I'm looking to buy a good used (off lease) 2009 or 2010 4.6 for my wife. The more she drives my car, the more she likes it. (Looking for a Sterling Blue if and when I find one at a good price).

Sounds like the V8 will be bored to 5.0 liters along with that 8-speed trans and DI - extra 50 hp and shorter gearing... you'll feel that!

Ad the 8 speed trani, steering mounted paddle shifters, 3 mode selectable suspension and AWD mated to the 5.0 with supercharger and I will bolt from my '09.

I had planned on buying a 2010 Sedan in the next month but with the new engine and 8 speed tranny I am now going to wait. I saw some conflicting reports on different sites on when the 5.0 engine will be in the sedan. Some said 2011 and some said 2012. I am hoping to see some type of official announcement on when the 2011 will be available and if the 5.0 will be available at that time before I buy.

Isn't the Equus equipped with the 4.6?
I doubt that Hyundai will offer a bigger V8 on a lesser model.
I bet it'll be at least 2012 before the 5.0(if the rumor's true) makes it into the Genesis.

The Equus is getting the 4.6 to start with and then will get the 5.0 in the spring according to some articles. The question is when will the Genesis, before or after the Equus.

Every single one of the articles has slightly conflicting information.

I personally think it would be a clumsy marketing move if the Genesis got the 5.0 before the Equus did.

I also think having this conflicting information come out now puts a bit of tarnish on the halo of the new Equus since it won't have this engine initially.

I have a feeling that the 5.0 is/was/maybe designed for the Equus. Such a big sedan...

Read my link on page 2.. Info already confirmed by Hyundai..

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The Equus will be launched with the 385 HP Tau and the ZF - I suspect the Tau won't change until mid-year - maybe even later, much like the sudden 385hp change.

Jeff,

I participated in a web session last week with John Krafcik, President HNA on the Hyundai Think Thank and as a result of his comments I question what you are being told and would appreciate you getting additional clarification. John indicated the following regarding Genesis:

1. The tech package will be getting lane change assist . This will also be featured on the Equus. John did not indicate whether this would be a feature on 2011 though or later.

2. The 5.0 engine is only a rumor and you should not believe everything you read on Autoblog.

3. The redesigned Genesis will not be out until 2014.

4. Equus dealers will have the option of offering valet service for the Genesis at their dicretion.

5. AWD option coming in next generation.

6. Microsoft sync time option is only for Kia not Hyundai. There are considered two separate companies.

I tried to find out if there would be any suspension changes in the 2011 but did not receive an answer.

Jeff can you try to find out if lane change assist in coming in 2011 and if there will be any suspension changes. Thanks.

After last year's fiasco when dealers complained about HMA boasting that the 2010 suspension was improved, they are not going to admit to any suspension changes until the last moment to make sure dealers can move out as much of the existing 2010 units from inventory as possible. If there are subtle changes (as opposed to air suspension), they may not admit it at all.

When Krafcik did a similar chat session on Feb 17, 2009 (which I participated in), he mentioned the lane departure warning (assist) system as likely to be on the next (2010) Genesis Sedan, so I would guess that it if he mentioned it again, it very likely this time (for the 2011).

I will check on that as well. I would hope that what I am being told is accurate.
