  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys, I found lots of useful info on these forums and now I just got a 2012 Genesis 3.8 with all packages but I wanted to know a few basic things before I get going. Sorry if I'm mixing up topics but:

1. Can I use my 255/45/R18 tires on my stock Genesis 18" wheels or is 245 the limit? The stock Genesis tires are 235/50/18 and a bit loud/not grippy, so I wonder if I can fit my 255mm wide 2004 Maxima tires on it or only just my 245mm ones. (I need separate summer/winter tires here in Canada) The ones I have would also protect the wheels from sidewalks due to a nice lip and if I sell my Maxima I want to know if I'd need to buy new tires.

2. Can I use my Maxima wheels on the Genesis? 5x114.3 is the bolt pattern but online I found mixed results - some sites claim they fit, some do not. I have not tried swapping wheels yet.

3. Different topic but has anyone finally figured out how to use the LED lights during the day? They look great and my Maxima has LED DRLs and dome/trunk lights so I was really happy to see the Genesis had some stock...then realized they're only for night time. They look cool but you already have low beams and fogs at night.

4. And finally, to avoid chipped paint in the area above the windshield, the Maxima has a built-in rubber stripe. Has anyone successfully tried sticking something similar on there for the Genesis?

For #1, Yes. My next set of tires will be 255 or even 265 width tires. Some will argue that it is not recommended. I ran 245/50/R16's on my Accord's stock rims. They did stick out past the rim a bit and could have a tendency to wear more in the center. My aggressive driving kept overall wear fairly flat though. Something to be aware of.

For #2, it does depend. I am fairly certain that the bolt pattern will fit. The issue might be with brake clearance, offset, etc... FWD and RWD cars can be quite different on those aspects. The only way to know for sure would be try one on.

For #2, the bolt patter and the wheel offset will fit (Maxima is +42 and Genesis is +38) but the centerbore size might not. My altima wheels wouldn't clear the centerbore. Everything else was okay.

Just test and see really.

Alright thanks guys. I'm gonna debadge it tonight and maybe try a wheel while I'm at it.
