Obviously, if the Genesis has an active suspension that is electronically adjustable depending on road dynamics, or even driver adjustable, that would be the case. But the North American Genesis suspension is not like that (so far).Mark, I am far from being an automotive expert, but in addition to shocks and struts doesn't a car's suspension also depend on how its computer is calibrated? Correct me if I'm wrong, but in addition to replacing parts shouldn't the car's electronics also be adjusted? And is this possible? I would like to think this is a simple fix, and I sure hope it is a simple fix, but I have a suspicion that improving the suspension on rough roads might be more complicated than just replacing the shocks and struts.
I can't say about the 2012 enhancements, but the 2010 enhancements consisted of different spring and shocks rates (softer springs and beefier shocks to compensate), and a beefier rear stabilizer. This information came from http://hyundaithinktank.com and other sources. The overall firmness between 2009 and 2010 is about the same (beefier shocks compensate for softer springs), but the 2010 doesn't bounce around as much as the 2009 where the springs overpowered the shocks. So there is not a change in the overall suspension (both 2009 and 2010 can handle the same load capacity). If all they had done was to make everything softer, then that could have caused a problem such as you are suggesting.
The specific differences between the 2009 and 2010 were discovered by some others who posted them on this forum previously. They looked at the shop diagrams on the HMA service website (http://www.hmaservice.com), and worked with a dealer parts person looking at the parts catalog to figure out which suspension parts had different part numbers from the previous year. There are different part numbers in some cases depending on V6 or V8 (the V8 and ZF transmission weigh quite a bit more than the V6).
I can't say if the 2012 suspension changes are going to be that simple, or whether they changed some other things in the overall configuration such as those you are concerned about. We should be able to find out in due time.
