  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 V6 vs 2012 V8?

That is a completely absurd statement. The differences between the two vehicles have been discussed all over this forum and are well known. While the 4.6 is arguably the better car for a few features beyond its performance, to refer to the 3.8 as "really, really" inferior or to characterize it as "crap" compared to the 4.6 suggests a high degree of ignorance about both vehicles.

Unless of course you could provide a few examples of 3.8's vast inferiority?
My advice is to completely ignore his posts and don't get too worked up them, because his posts on this forum have absolutely no credibility whatsoever.

I ended going for the 4.6 since there were no 3.8's within 100 mile driving distance to test drive. Today is my first day with the car and I love it! Really enjoying listening to my Dvd-Audio discs in surround sound. I don't want to get out of the car!

Congratulations!
Glad you're happy, but one question:
Did you check the tire pressure?
;)

I didn't personally check the tire pressure, but when they called to let me know the car was ready to be picked up I asked them to check the tire pressure for me. They told me the tire pressure was what it was supposed to be at. Now it's time for my first road trip!

Be safe and enjoy :D

Someone keeps bashing on Genesis V8 and V8 owners / enthusiasts, I will gladly bash V6 Genesis. I can bash more, depending on how much you try to bash V8. you bash less, I will bash less too.:welcome:

I *almost* bought a Genesis Sedan 4.6 2010 model... the ride was too soft as I came from a Mazdaspeed 3 which has rock hard butt-sore ride.

But I ended up going with a brand new 2011 F-Sport Lexus IS350 which stickers for $46.2k.

That doesn't mean I don't know about Genesis Sedan. I am the teacher, or the councelor. You want to know about Genesis Sedan you ask me. :welcome:

Here's your sign . . .!

If Mark_888 didn't keep spamming dissing on the 4.6 to justify his 3.8 purchase I wouldn't have made the such phrase "Really, really inferior" or "Crap". People need to respect both trims respectfully... but yeah, I admit I was a bit harsh.[/QUOTE]

Not sure about "everybody" but I agree that one extra for you won't make much difference.
The best the human has made through in a day was with 3 sins. No matter how good the person think he / she is, you still get sins. The only dude that doesn't get any sins is God and his people in heaven. Oh, the angels too. :)

Putting down on a 4.6 trim, you are putting down on 4.6 owners. You are hurting their feelings. This is sin. You got one already and accumilating... You probably got 11 sins already this morning when you got out of the bed . Not that I'm saying you are bad, we all get sins. You can't get out of this. The best thing we can do is pray for forgiveness for whatever wrongs you did... if you are not sure what you did wrong, ask God. He can help you realize what is that you did wrong... this applies to anybody.:welcome:

Oh, and driving fast (over the speed limit) doesn't necessarily mean you get a sin.... the dude driving too slow can get more sins.

Good choice. You are loving the car due to its smooth tremendous power the 4.6 generates at highway speeds. It feels like an UFO taking off. Have you watched the movie "Independence Day"? I am not joking.

And again, personal remarks = more sins. Putting down another person, me, in this case, that's sin. You got additional 6 sins I am estimating. That's total of 17 sins and counting.;)

Congratulations!

I would recommend cheez's recommended spec of 41 PSI for both front and back for the following:
- Improved steering response
- Improved handling
- Improved fuel economy
- MOST IMPORTANTLY, decreased rolling resistance on the tires = better performance = faster

I hate low PSI's (32 psi and below) to death. It's so stupid. If i want a waterbed-like ride, I just get a waterbed.:D

Here's your sign . . .!
Not sure what you mean by that. Please clarify what you are trying to say?

Give me a break. I am not putting anyone down, just listing the advantages and disadvantages of each model. For some reason (and I am sure this was a completely innocent oversight) the discussion seems to be skewed towards the idea that the V8 has no disadvantages compared to the V6, and I was just trying to balance the discussion.

I didn't make any personal remarks about you, I only made remarks about some of your posts in this forum. You even admitted yourself that some of your posts have gone over-board:

I will agree if you are talking about 1-10 MPH over the speed limit. Beyond that I probably don't agree.

The only sins I have heard about are the 7 deadly sins, of which pride is one. Other than that, I don't know as much about the subject it as you seem to. Maybe that is because you are Catholic Theologian? Should we address you as St. Cheez?

Are we playing, "Who can quote the most in a single post" or talking about the 2012 V6 vs. 2012 V8?

(rolls eyes)

I can't find any local dealers with 2012's! I really want to test all 3, seeing as they've changed quite a bit from 2011.

Let's see Cheez - 1. you don't own a Genesis, you own a Lexus; 2. you called the car I own "crap" which in turn is a direct insult to me as a purchaser; 3. you state that you are only here because everyone is bashing the V-8 when it actuality was a healthy discussion until you started hurling direct and indirect insults; 4. google Bill Engval and "here's your sign"; 5. This is the last time I even get close to dignifying your existence on this board.

... but I don't see the sign that you speak of. I don't own a Genesis but I know a lot about it. I didn't mean it when I said "crap". Please read the discussion above your post. You will see.

No, I'm in the correct forum. I was talking about the Gensis. As for sin part, someone brought it up so I just replied.:)

Some funny comments in here, I picked the V6 cause it was snappy enough around town and the fuel economy ain't bad. But saying the V6 is for grandma and grandpa etc and that true driving ethuist would get the v8 is kinda silly. If I was going for dynamics and power I wouldn't be driving a genesis sedan.

This is coming from a guy whos other car makes about 1100 wheel horsepower.

This was from December......................of 2011.

This thread needs a cameo in the next "The Walking Dead" episode.

But for real, my 3.8 is better than your 4.6.

Hi All, I just love these/those "Mines Better Than Yours" or "You shouldA bought the V8" comments..
If anyone feels that my individual decision is wrong, why not accompany me to the dealership & co-sign for the vehicle THEY think I should drive..
I'm happy to drive almost any vehicle I cannot afford:rolleyes:
So, lets start at the Porsche dealership..Don't forget to bring your Pen..

ps I'm an Apple, Leica & Hyundai F A N...Though it does not mean they get everything right All the Time.............

I drive a 2010 4.6 with the ZF 6 speed. My previous car was an Infiniti M45.
The Genesis 4.6 is the smoothest drive train I've owned. That includes BMW 7
and MB. I have driven the 3.8 Genesis 8 speed as loaner twice. I found the "seat of the pants" torque not even close to the 4.6. Acceleration of the 3.8 was not bad but somewhat "tractorish" compared to the 4.6.
I ave 18 mpg in town and 26 mpg on the road. 87 octane provides the smoothest operation and best fuel efficiency. 93 octane makes it a beast 0-60 and 50-85 roll on is amazing. The exhaust tips burn cleaner with 87.
Soot up quickly with 93:cool:

Regarding fuel economy at 3 mpg higher for the six, in real world driving this does not relate to a significant savings over a years time period. V-8 all the way.

It amounts to about 90 gallons per year to an average driver... Mulitply times the gas cost in your area for saving..

At a minimum this is $300 per year.

You have to laugh about somebody who calls a car with 333 hp (and gets to 60 under 6 seconds) a tractor.

Yeah, really. This engine is butter smooth and quiet for the most part. My "tractor" at the price I got it is a better bang for my buck.
