In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Bought my 2013 Genesis 3.8 with Technology & Premium Options on March 1, 2013. I have had two problems from around the 2nd month after my purchase. They are: 1) The driver seat and the back not getting much airflow even at the switch setting at MAX position; 2) The seat leather cover is not snug tight - kind of loose and wavy in the middle area. Have been to the dealer SEVEN times starting August 2013.

The dealer has replaced the fan and filter, Found Blower motor weakened, seized. Removed and replaced blower, Swapped seat with another car in stock/loaner, Found driver seat bottom deformed; removed and replaced driver seat bottom, and have, without Hyundai's approval, inserted a "hose" tube under the seat to improve airflow. I have also had two different field service reps spend a day, month apart, with the car - testing and measuring voltage and current to the motor. The first field service rep agreed that there is a problem and requested "documentation" from Hyundai-Korea, but never received any. That rep was transferred out, and the new field rep did not find any problem. After this, the dealership service director tried to help me by installing a small "hose" tube just over the air-intake opening, but that still did not improve anything.

Right now, at MAX setting of the switch, I still feel no air coming from any of the vented holes - on the seat and on the back! Today, I left the car running, with all doors closed and outside temperature at 90 degrees, inside a/c set at 74 degrees; after about 13 minutes, took a Kleenex tissue (thin, just one part) and laid it over various parts of the seat and the back, but saw no movement in it when the switch set at the MAX setting!

So today, in frustration, I formally filed the Defect Notification Form with the Hyundai at their Consumer Connect center address in California, and sent a copy to the Florida Attorney General's office for the Lemon Law administration.

I did do a Google search some time back and found lots of people in this Forum have complaints about this driver seat cooling problem and some had very creative solutions - multiple pvc pipes inserted under the seat into the thick dense foam to keep the air passageway open, but most of the posting were from 2009 and 2010; didn't find much with 2012 or 2013 years.

Does any one here have any problems with the Driver seat - the climate controlled seat -- in their 2013 3.8 Genesis?

It has been very frustrating for almost 10 months, 7 trips and Hyundai not doing a better job in its warranty coverage.

Thank you for your help.

i have a 2013 rspec.
My seat has never blown very hard.
The only time i feel it working hard is when I am sweaty and get in the car.
I think the evaporation makes it feel more pronounced

I have driven for 100mi with it on and never felt chilled.
Not sure if it is supposed to work that well or not, but i have read posts by others saying that they have to turn it off because it gets so cold.
I have had to turn the seat warmers off because I get too hot

I believe on the Genesis, they are air conditioned seats. You shouldn't feel any draft coming from the seats itself. I believe the fan noise would be the cold air circulating within the seat.

EDITED: It seemed to work great today. Cooled right off after a few minutes running at full speed and I had to lower it down to one speed before I felt cold to my back and thigh.:p

This has its ups and downs, especially down here in Florida, you never get cold from the seat, normal operation stats you shouldn't feel the air itself, but very slightly if you have your hand over the set. What I use to diagnosis the flow of the air is a bag, plastic bag or what we use at work to not dirty customers cars. Turn the seat on and see if the bag rises slightly. Remember this bag is covering the whole seat, so you get a slight rise on the bag, if you just lay a napkin there it may not work.

For example here in fl, after driver you about 50 miles is when you'll start feeling the cold air. But keep in mind where the air vent tubes are ran through. This is ran under the carpet and center console exc.. This has a lot to do with it as there is a lot of heat, on nice warm day and cool days, the seat will kick in faster.

Just a thought. Check your rear AC setting. If it's blowing heat to the back seat that will be heating up the console too.

Mine blows cold inside 30 seconds, and if left on high gets too cold for comfort in about 3 mins.

Sorry not 50 miles, about 5 miles.

Any updates to this as I am having the same problem and for the life of me can't seem to get the drivers seat back cover off. I was planning on trying to see if I can fix it myself. Stealership wanted about 65 dollars JUST to take a look at it. My Rspec is over the warranty miles.

I filed a complaint against Hyundai with the AutoLine managed by BBB. The arbitrator ruled in Hyundai's favor. So I have given up. The airflow is still the same as before - not much air! Promised myself never to buy another Hyundai.

Why should your dealer charge $65 - the car should be under warranty now!

If I can only get that back cover off I'm sure I can fiddle around and fix it. I have seen instructions on how to take the cover off ( Pull out and to the left or right or something ) however the cover will not give and I don't want to break anything.
