  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2013 Genesis R-Spec...CarPlay add-on

Car's back on the road! On a side note, I have the ability to offer virginized ECU's (as in, ready to be programmed for VIN) for 12-14 R-Spec if anyone needs one for a price less than half the dealer cost.. Contact me for more information.

The Genesis unit is in our sights now (albeit along with other projects) for sure now that Toyota CarPlay is about ready
Thanks for the update. Can't wait till a finished product is available for purchase.

Hey guys, I've been rolling with our new hardware and software for a few weeks now, and it is damn good. Connects extremely fast as soon as CAN-bus wakes up (when you open the door)... by the time I'm out of reverse, CarPlay is connected and ready to go. Steering wheel controls work (track, SIRI/VC, pick-up button), uses OEM Microphone and there is even a software provision for using the OE Bluetooth system to handle phone calls, if you choose to. Screen quality (for composite input) is better than I thought it would be, and the overlays from volume and climate work great (because we're using AV input). A few more software tweaks for functionality (entering/exiting, touchscreen sensitivity) are required and this thing will be set. I truly believe this will be the best bang-for-your-buck mod available for Genesis. Also I've researched the other knob-style systems (from 09-14) and we will be making a kit for that system as well, the T-Harness will be different, but if its still LSFT CAN, it will use the same hardware. Not sure if the other style system will have touchscreen - will know more later when I get into that version of Genesis.

Next step is to ramp up production on the harnesses and hardware. Then its just a matter of waiting for them to be built. Hoping by the end of the summer you'll all get to enjoy it as much as I have so far. Making another operational video soon.

That is fantastic news. Thank you for all you do for us Genny owners. Lack of Carplay/Android Auto is truly the one thing that drives me crazy in our car.

@Silver5.0 I have a 2013 Sedan with Tech Pkg. Still love this car to the moon. Android Auto/Carplay is the only thing my wife and I need to keep this car another 10 years. We will buy one when ready. Quick question....will the unit do both Android and Apple or will you need to choose?

I'm in too when it is ready. Thanks for blazing this trail! Have a great summer and looking forward to more good news! Evan

@Silver5.0 I just purchased a 2013 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 sedan with 60k miles. Will the android auto software work with my car? I don't have the touchscreen. The navigation and screen is controlled with the jog dial. Attaching photo. I am also trying to get the navigation system updated. The system was never updated and I can't find update disc anywhere. Do you know where I can find a copy? Thank you!

@Silver5.0 I’m in as well! Been looking for something like this for some time. I hope you have some good news to share. This is the inky thing missing from my 2013 Genesis Sedan.

@Silver5.0 Just purchased a 2013 5.0...would love to have the car play option...are the units selling now?

Last I heard from him they are looking at a different hardware platform (PCB) so that it's more universal across multiple mfgrs, not only Hyundai. So unfortunately, nothing rolling with mass production as of yet.
