  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I wonder if anyone here has a 2013 Cabernet Red R-Spec with a Black interior? I saw this option offered in 2011 for the 4.6, but the dealer told me that I probably could not get one.

It is kind of strange that if you select the 3.8 2013 Genesis (on the Hyundai Site for Build a Genesis) that the Cabernet Red Exterior only comes with the Cashmere interior, however the R-Spec only comes in Black.

R Spec is not available in red in '13; at least not in the USA.

That is an excellent point. Showing red R-Spec for me in SoCal too...

The web site's error is not likey to deliver a red R to your door.

I hope it's not an error. I'm going to stop and see a Hyundai dealer today as a result.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It's more then likely not an error. All R-Spec models only come with black interior, so it only makes sense.

Stopped at the dealer a couple of hours ago. His Genesis ordering info didn't show the Cabernet red, but he then checked the Hyundai web site (see above link) where it does show as an available color. He called his Hyundai rep and left a message for him

The dealer sales manager just called me and confirmed that the Cabernet Red has just been added as a color choice on the R-Spec and that black is the only available interior. He's offered me the 2013 R-Spec for $41,800 and thinks there is a chance to have it by Christmas (ya, right). It is also possible to add an aftermarket lumbar support to the passenger seat.

I'm now checking on insurance rates.

Edit: $349 for 6 months.

How big a piece of Humble Pie would you like?

I would caution to say that just because the Dealer said it, does not make it true! Until I saw it in the flesh, I would not take the Dealer at their word.

Except it wasn't the dealer...The dealer called his Rep...Read his post again.

And Besides, why would one not believe and dealer and the Hyundai Website? It's only a Fricken Car Color...We're not talking Leprechauns here.

I'm very happy you can get a red one like mine. I would never choose the black interior, though. Too funereal.

I bought a 2011 4.6 red/black in Minneapolis through Rudy Luther. Luther was the second dealer I tried. The first dealer said "impossible". Forgot the name of the first dealer (it wasn't Morrie's). Before I went to Luther I tried AutoTrader. They had several listings, and I was prepared to go as far as Iowa. Luther found my car in Milwaukee and the salesman personally drove to Milwaukee and delivered the car to me at no additional cost for the delivery.

I think the killer color combo (if it truly is available) is the white exterior with black interior. If I wasn't in a hurry that's what I would have wanted.

At the LA Auto Show yesterday, I asked at the Hyundai booth about the red R-spec. The rep had a binder full of wom...er...info - the red was listed in the '13 Genesis spreadsheet, but said "limited availability".

Technically, the DEALER told him what a "Hyundai rep" conveyed to him. That my friend, is hearsay. :) Further, a "Hyundai rep" could have been the kid that washes cars in the back.

Not saying that it isn't available, but having been in the auto industry for 25+ years, I have heard many stories about how cars get special ordered with option combinations not even available, (your hard earned money deposited), and the cars show up completely different than what was ordered.

I would hate to see that happen to a member here, that is all I am saying. Merely a cautionary tale. If that is the color combo he has his heart set on, I hope it comes to fruition for him.

This is not my first new car rodeo. The dealer is local (smaller city where reputation gets around) and I've been working with the salesman for some time. We ended up in the sales manager's office and the sales manager made the call. He (and I) know that he will not only lose a sale but local reputation by lying to me.

While there are a lot of shady dealings in some dealerships, those kind of dealers don't last in a town of only 100,000 people. This particular dealer is in the 3rd generation of family ownership, by the way.

Good for you, hope it all works out as you would like. :)
