  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hubby just bumped our "new" 2013 Genesis Sedan into his truck. Barely hit it, but will require a little touch up paint. Biggest problem is that it busted the red plastic cover of the driver side tail lightr. Does anyone know if this requires a whole new tail light or if the red plastic cover can be purchased and replaced. For now, we are just considering gluing back the piece that broke off. I know, a little trashy, but won't want to turn it in on insurance. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated......or ideas on where to get the part.

I am pretty sure you need to get the whole assembly. Assuming you are talking about the part that is in a fixed position (not the part that is attached to the trunk), here is some info from an online parts website:

LENS & HOUSING Left[driver] - 2013 Hyundai Genesis (92410-3M250)
List Price: $645.90 (probably what a dealer would quote you)
Sale Price: $484.43

Scroll down to the correct part.

You might try to find an online used part store (online junkyard) and see if you can get that part cheaper. Otherwise, if you can repair it yourself with some glue, then maybe that is OK.

BTW, you don't have a "Drives a Hyundai 2G Genesis 3.8 V6 Sedan." If you have a 2013 you have "Drives a Hyundai 1G Genesis 3.8 V6 Sedan."
2G is 2015 or later.

I had the bad luck to have the taillight "lens cover" on my 2013 Genny broken in a Walmart parking lot.

Here in Canada, the entire housing set me back $850 or so.

If you can glue yours together so it's water tight, go for it!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I've found a couple of places on-line where I can get the taillight for a fairly reasonable price and hopefully not a pain to switch out ourselves. Never dreamed the "touch up" job on the paint would be the biggest expense. Over $600 because they have to remove the bumper and paint it all.

I think they just remove the plastic bumper cover and paint it (even if it is a new cover they have to paint it). You are not the first one to have had that done.
