  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So with the new "generation 2" Blue Link for the 2015 Genesis does anyone know if its possible to subscribe to JUST the "Blue Link Remote" package WITHOUT the "Blue Link Guidance" package?

After all they already have GPS standard in all models and most people are using smartphones these days so I don't really see the need for the "Blue Link Guidance". My dealer was of the impression that the ONLY way to get the "Blue Link Remote" was to first sign up for the "Guidance".

Heres the breakdown on the various "Connected Car" packages:
Connected Care - (Free for three years)
(Subscription required after three years)

  • Automatic Collision Notification
  • Enhanced Roadside Assistance
  • SOS Emergency Assistance
  • Monthly Vehicle Health Report
  • Auto Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Notification
  • Service Link
  • Genesis & Blue Link App (smartphone)
  • Maintenance Alert***
  • Driving Information
  • On-Demand Diagnostics
  • In-Vehicle Car Care App***
  • App Store Access (In-vehicle and Webb***)

Remote Package (3-month trial)
  • Remote Door Lock/Unlock
  • Remote Horn and Lights
  • Car Finder
  • Remote Start with Climate Control*
  • Alarm Notification
  • Panic Notification
  • Stolen Vehicle Recovery
  • Stolen Vehicle Slowdown
  • Vehicle Immobilization
  • Vehicle Safeguard Alerts App***
  • — Valet Alert
  • — Geo-Fence
  • — Speed Alert
  • — Curfew Alert

Guidance Package (3-month trial)
  • Destination Search powered by Google
  • Destination Send-to-Car by Google

It seems ridiculous.

Can anyone confirm this mandatory bundle?

Anybody else try to sign up for the Hyundai telematics on their new cars?

I know this topic has been sitting for a while and you've probably found an answer by now, but I stumbled on it so I'll answer...

The website forces you into a "free trial" of the guidance package in order to get the remote package. It actually moves the selection mark for you (very uncool and sneaky). That being said, you can get remote and then immediately cancel your trial for guidance so that you never get charged.

I can conform as this is exactly what I did. I ended up talking to three people, including a manager - I initially thought that maybe this restriction was just for signing up online and that if I called and asked to start the remote trial only they could do it - well they can't do it either (they apparently use the same or similarly based screens). But they were able to sign me up, and then turn right around and set the GPS trial package to NOT renew automatically (i.e. cancelling it), while leaving the remote package as normal.

How much is the remote package by itself? The website doesn't give the cost unless maybe you have to log in to see it

The 3 packages are $99 each per year after the 3 month trial (for the Guidance Package and the Remote Package) and 3 year standard (for the Assured Connected Care Package) expires.

So I've had some time now to play with the remote start function in real life situations. I won't be continuing after the free trial. It takes way too long and is way too inconvenient to have to pull out my phone, put in the unlock code on my phone, open up the genesis app, put in my password (it will not leave you logged in), and then have to put in my pass code, and I have to remember to turn on the a/c (by default it is turned off every time you go in).

I think if perhaps it would leave me logged in without the need to constantly put in my password, it might be a bit easier, but with my big fat fingers, it is not quick to enter a password (correctly).

It is a shame really (as I mentioned in another post) that they didn't include a key fob remote start. I understand that the bluelink remote start doesn't require you to be close to the car and that is a big advantage, but they need to make it easier to actually start the car and set the temperature. i.e. a one touch widget (android) to start the car and set temp to a previously set default.

Thank you for this post, I just read the car comes with
"Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Stolen Vehicle Slowdown ,Vehicle Immobilization "

The Dealer charged her 1200 for a lo-jack system that I just called them out on! They are writing a refund check... I wonder how many people are getting screwed over?
In my wife's defense, they did say it was installed already and was mandatory.
