  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone else with a rooted android phone having problems launching the 2015 Genesis BlueLink App?

I am getting a message saying:
This device has been rooted, for security reasons, this app can't be used in your device

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S3 running 4.4.2

Let me look up the instructions but you will need to download xposed installer from Google play and use it to install rootcloak which allows you to spoof not being rooted for certain apps that dont allow rooted devices. I have it running now.

I found xposed and rootcloak That did the trick! I can launch the app.

Unrelated to the phone being rooted, there is currently a problem with the server signing in. I am seeing the same error on a stock phone as well.

The server is busy and taking longer than normal to respond. Please try again later or call BlueLink for assistance.

Server is no longer busy and I am in.

Thanks for the help jcox!

I'm getting the same message, a rooted phone has no additional security issues. I reported it on the app feedback. Hyundai needs to fix this or I am cancelling my bluelink subscription.

Check that link I posted above. It will get you around the message permanently

You can also use xprivacy module. I did it with that module instead and the genesis app works now

Some reasons to use xprivacy are
-xprivacy is on the play store, root cloak is not
-rootcloak hasn't had a release in 6 months and might not be actively developed anymore
-xprivacy does a lot more things..so i already needed it for some other purpose
-xprivacy is a LOT more popular in the community. over 1000 pages of discussion instead of ~40 pages for root cloak
-rootcloak dev is relatively unknown with only ~100 posts. and you're granting him superuser privileges!

Which item do I need to restrict?

I have a Chinese HDC Galaxy Note 2 GT H7100. Genesis app says phone is rooted and it is not. None of the above works because phone is not roote and I have yet to figure out how to root it, HDC is no help. Any suggestions?

I found a solution to this involving decompiling/recompiling the app. Anyone interested can PM me for details.

Thanks iolaus!!!:):):)
I didn't have the time to thank you because I changed phones this week. Your app worked flawlessly on my rooted Oneplus One and now is working the same on my new Oneplus 3.
Have you noted that now the new Blue Link app stopped working on rooted phones too???
