There are numerous posts regarding installation of fog lights on 2015 Model Genesis' that did not come with factory fogs. I read them all, yet still have questions. I have a 3.8 AWD with the Signature, Tech and Ultimate Packages. My window sticker lists my lights as "HID Auto Headlights with Daytime (Amber) Running Lights and LED Accents". I want to add LED fog lights and have read posts on how to remove the plastic pieces that are in the slot (passenger and drivers sides) where the fogs would be if factory installed. I DO NOT have a fog-light control on the lighting control stem on the steering wheel. I read where one person direct wired fogs to the ignition, so they were on every time the ignition comes on. This would be legal in Michigan, so no problem if I have to go that route. One question is this... would LED fogs look odd with the Amber daytime running lamps if both are on at the same time? Has anyone done this? What is your opinion of wiring them directly to the ignition? I'm looking for basic answers here, so please save the technical stuff. Some of your posts are way over my head when it comes to electrical wiring. I'm guessing some of you that posted on similar threads are electrical engineers or such. Try to keep it simple. My wife really likes the look of the LED fogs on the newer Genesis' and asked if that can be done. My 2015 has only 9,800 miles, so it is way too early to trade it in for the newer models with the newer lighting setups, so after-market is what I'm looking at for now. I've priced these lights and they are not cheap, so I want to make sure there is a viable option before I make the purchase.

Thank you "puzzled". That was just the type of information I was looking for. How difficult is it to replace the stalk?

There are several potential issues that one needs to consider when attempting this. One is unless you convert your vehicle to an OEM fog light condition that could require more than just adding the replacement fog light stalk switch wiring them in any direct operation configuration is probably not going to pass any vehicle safety inspection that your state has. If you state does have a safety insp and it's like the one here in Va. Fog lights can only be on when the headlights are on and on low beam. They are not on with the parking lights, with no lights at all on and must automatically be turned off when you switch your headlights from low to high beams.

Second installing the fog light stalk switch may entail more than many are able or willing to do depending on the exact configuration of your vehicle which does not seem to be consistent across vehicles, even those with the ultimate trim. Here is the way the factory fog light system works. The fog light stalk switch does not actually switch the fog lights on or off. It provides a B-can network comm signal that goes across the B-can bus and is interpreted by the IGPM (located in that box under the steering wheel next to the door where your inside fuze box is). Thru internal solid state relays and circuit protections a +12V power signal for each LH and RH fog lights separately are outputed via one of the connectors. This power is then routed out into the engine compartment along the driver's to the driver's side bumper connector and along the way two grounds for the fog lights are picked up. This bumper connector then has 4 wires for the fog lights (a ground and power to each). This connector also has connections for the various parking sensons also and is there so the bumper facade can be removed with the parking sensors and foglights attached from the car at a single connector.

Here are the rubs so to speak. It seems that some vehicles w/o the stalk switch may or may not have the wiring for the fog lights between the IGPM and the car end of that front bumper connector. Non to my knowledge have any wiring on the bumper fascade side of that front bumper connector. If you have the wiring then one can simply add the stalk switch and then tap into the correct power and/or ground wires on the car side of that front bumper connector and then you have a almost "FACTORY" system. The only thing missing is if you remove the front bumper fascade you have to disconnect the fog lights or either install pins in the bumper side of that front bumper connector or instrall a separate connector for your fog lights between where you tapped into the factory wiring on the car side and then to the fog lights.

If you don't have this IGPM to front bumper connector already there then things get more complicated than most are willing or capable of doing and I'll leave out any specifics this this is sort of beyond the scope here and requires taking apart connectors and installing missing pins and wiring, etc.

One final warning if you try and wire the fog lights via the stalk switch realize that should you mess up or short out things during installation or even down stream you run the potential of damaging the internal non replacement components in the IGPM when could result in having to replace that entire unit which is going to be $$$$. This is because there are no external and replaceable fuze and/or relays for the fog lights on the 2015 and on Genesis.

I have a 2015 Ultimate and I wired mine into the fuse box with add a fuse way and it works flawlessly. I have had now for over a year and it just looks beautiful. My LED lights come on whenever the car is on and go off when the car is off.Screen Shot 2018-03-06 at 10.25.52 PM.webp

I can not speak to your mechanical skills to say how easy it would be for you, but here is what I did.

Removed the front bumper and added in the fog lights.
There was no wiring to the location of the fog lights, but when I bought the lights, they came with the wiring harness.
The harness connector from the body of the car to the bumper had the wiring, but no pins for the bumper side. I bought a 4 wire plug with pins and tapped into the wires on the body side of the harness. This is the connector I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B4FCQCK I ran 2 wires to each of the fog lights and zip tied them so they were nice and neat. This also means that anyone else removing the bumper will see the extra plug and be able to remove and reconnect it.
The part that took the most time, was removing the airbag. It takes some feel to understand how it releases, but once you get it, it is not too bad to remove.
Putting the new stalk in place was easy.

Once everything was all connected up, the car had all the logic in place to control the fog lights. ie. fogs will not be on when the high beams are on. Which is why I went with the OEM route to replace the stalk.
LarryJM is right, it is not a switch, just a slight push up on the section of the stalk to turn on/off the fog lights. It does not stay in position.

You have the least complicated mod to do things to get a system that is as close to factory as is possible w/o adding pins to that bumper connector on the bumper side of it and then wiring on to the fog lights. You also made your system operate just as the factory does by being able to simply disconnect those two bumper connectors to remove the bumper facade from the car.

What watt fuse did u use? I also just bought the 2015 ultimate and want to do that.

I finished the initial headlight swap and fog lamp install. The headlamps will be another post.

Disconnect the battery of the car then wait at least 3 minutes prior to start working. The fog lamps where pretty much plug and play into the bumper for my car.. The wire harness that I bought off Ebay was actually wired inverted (I'll post the diagram). So I had to re-pin the four front parking sensors connectors in a mirrored fashion. But after that inconvenience, the sensors worked perfectly. Now as for the switch. If you look in the trunk on the right side under the carpet there is a fuse panel. Apparently if you have a fuse marked foglamp, there is a good chance that your wiring for the fog lamps exist.

Also, the front harness on the driver side bumper needs to have that extra wiring for the lamps.

Anyway, after putting all in, I moved to the steering column. I elected to swap out the multi-function switch with one from a 5.0 2015 vs adding a separate switch. it was a bit of a headache to get the airbag off, but I followed the instructions from the Hyundai Tech Info site (Drivers Air Bag Removal).

Once you finally get the Airbag off, you'll need a 21mm socket to get at the steering wheel column bolt, then you can remove the lower cover and upper covers and clock-spring

Install your shinny new multi-function switch and make sure not to damage any connections in the process an that all connectors are plugged in tight and screwed in tight.

Reinstall the clock-spring. There is a little white detent, push that in and gently rotate the clock-spring clock all the way right, till it stops. the rotate it back until the is a soft click and align the bottom arrows. Reinstall the bottom and upper covers.

I forgot to take the picture, but when putting the steering wheel back on, align the markings on the column and the wheel, and your golden. The service manual states to use a new steering wheel bolt......... torqued to 28.9 - 36.2 ft lbs.

Make sure to connect the horn connection and push the air bag connectors firmly into the unit and push in the retention clips. For some reason my airbag light came on because I didn't do this. This is probably not best practice, but since the airbag isn't easy to remove and to prevent any damage, once the connections to the airbag are made, gently place it on the steering wheel but don't press it in yet. Connect the battery and turn on the car. Your airbag light should come on and then turn off. Once that is verified, turn off the car, disconnect the battery again, wait the 3 minutes and if you have to check any connections do that. Once you make the connections and route the wiring through the retention clip, secure it and firmly press the airbag back into position.

Hopefully at this point you haven't blown anything up. connect the battery and start the engine. The airbag light should illuminate then go out. if it stays on, you need to verify the connections.

Hey. You may want to double check exactly what package you purchased. I’m going to assume you purchased your Genesis pre-owned. The signature pack did not come with fog lights. The tech and ultimate came with those. As for the amber lights running at the same time as the LED fogs, it actually looks pretty classy. Remember, the Sonata has the LED fogs factory installed (at least the majority of the packs did from 2015-2017). You definitely want to distinguish yourself from a Sonata. Not that they really compare. I bought the Sig pack when they first changed the body style. I purposely did not want a tech or ultimate pack because, for me, the features are unnecessary. I added genuine Hyundai Genesis fog lights a few years ago and have them running with the ignition as well as the amber lights. Looks pretty good and of course always get compliments. Hope that helps.

Hey Larry, I really need some help figuring if my 2015 has the harness for the LEDs. How were you able to tell without getting under the car? Thanks in advance sir

Are you referring to the foglights or the headlights?

Has anyone had a dealer do this and if so what did they charge. I see the Stalk for $160 and the lights with harness for $380 on eBay, that's about the price the dealer wants for just the stalk. I have an 2015 Ultimate and it has the fuse in the truck for the fog lights in place but did not come with the stalk or lights
