Then I was hoping for. Now I don't know if the USA pricing will be much different?

Today at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hyundai Canada announced that the all-new 2015 Hyundai Genesis will start at $43,000 when it arrives in showrooms this spring with the following standard features:
311-horsepower 3.8L GDI V6 engine;
HTRAC all-wheel drive;
HID headlights with adaptive lighting;
Proximity keyless entry with push-button ignition;
8'' touchscreen navigation system;
Rearview camera;
and more.

Starting at $48,000, the 3.8 Luxury version of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis adds a panoramic sunroof, premium Napa leather, and a 14-speaker Lexicon sound system, among other luxurious features.

Next up is the 3.8 Technology, priced from $53,000, with advanced driver assistance features including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), a Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with stop-and-go capability, not to mention full-colour head-up display and an industry-first CO2 sensor control system.

Finally, at $62,000, the 5.0 Ultimate model stands out with Hyundai's award-winning 5.0L GDI V8 engine developing an estimated 420 horsepower in addition to extra goodies such as a 9.2'' high-definition navigation display, an upgraded 900-watt Lexicon surround sound system with 17 speakers, and a Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension.

The new Genesis wouldn't be the first car that priced itself above my needs. I owned two Z cars before Nissan decided they wanted to put it out of the reach of the majority its fans. They did the same thing to the Maxima.

IF they can pull it off, they will succeed in getting folks who are buying BMW' Lexus and Audi to at least look at the car as an option, but at the top of the price range, not sure many will switch.

Looks like I'll be keeping my 2012 Avalon for a bit longer.

Canadian pricing is always different with cars - not just the exchange rate difference. To early to be assuming the car is over priced.

I hope your right ksoze... I have a hard time justifying 60k for a car even though the 5.0 G is the one I want but I got to keep hope that it comes down in my price range. Might have to change plans and pull the trigger on a 2014 model as I do know I want a Genny...

Seriously people, this is Canadian pricing. Canadian pricing is always much higher than that of US pricing, plus the Genesis has AWD standard which pushes the pricing even further upwards. I expect a slight a $3-5K increase over current pricing.

+1

Canadian and US pricing are very different and probably aren't comparable at all, but if you're going to do the comparison... The 1g 5.0 in Canada is $54k and change without AWD (which means it's $54 while being non-competitive in the Canadian market). Add $2500 for AWD and you're nearly $57, making the difference between 1g and 2g on the Canadian market only really account for about $5-6k. Size that down to be relative to the US market and I think $5k is about the biggest increase you would see. I'm still guessing that since that result will be hovering so close to $50 that they'll try for $49,900 before destination.

Do you have an idea when HMA releases the price and its specification? It's tiring to wait.

This.

Canadian prices are higher for every make - some of that may be due to packaging, but most of it is that Canada is a much smaller market (automakers aren't as aggressive when it comes to pricing) and thus the costs can't be spread out.

The Aussie market has the same issue.

I expect the 3.8 RWD to start around $39-40k and the R-Spec (assuming a RWD version) to be around $49-50k.

If that is true, it would be about a $5K price increase over a 2014. When you considering discounting of the 2014, prices could easily be $8-10K higher.

Take 9% off for currency exchange and the base AWD would be USD39,000

she looks much better in the photos than real life. I sat today in the new Genesis at Toronto auto show and I realized she is a bit short of my expectation. Price wise I think Hyundai makes a big mistake trying to market Genesis at a price dangerously closed to their competitors.
I see more people getting away from spending 60K+ for a Hyundai here in Canada.

Im hoping Hyundai does not have a significant price increase. I know they will not be offering the big discounts right after launch, but if the discounts dont come, they will price me out of the market. Im no auto industry analyst but IMO they need to keep their identity of being a value brand.
I know its a different vehicle but I also like the Toyota Avalon and its history of quality and resale value. The new one also looks great.

I am pleased at times but more often perplexed at some of the postings on this forum, particularly those by admitted non-owners. I stepped out of my 2013 Genesis Coupe after 15 mos. and into my Titanium 2013 R-Spec. Sedan.
I am 80, speak 6 languages, lived round the world, driven sports cars and sports sedans all my life and owned about every car from Alfa Romeo to Toyota.
Averaged 27.5 MPG over an 800 mile stretch with the R (speed control on 80 when possible) on a run from Pittsburgh to Colorado Springs;as a break-in.
I have had zero problems! Recommendations: Drive it like you love it; BURY THE TACH! I also keep my Escort Max on duty, LEO isn't friendly 'round here.

So you bought a 2013 Genesis Coupe, then traded it for 2013 Genesis R-Spec Sedan, and now you are going to get a 2015 Genesis V8 this spring (per you post in other thread). I guess you have figured out that at 80 years old, you have more money than you can spend in your lifetime. Must be nice.

What didn't you like about the new Genesis? (Other than the Grill - Which is Fugly)

:confused: Whoa...... How does a person expressing their views on the joys of driving a Genesis justify such a negative remark?

Maybe you are a very negative person to construe my remarks as negative? I think a lot of people would like to upgrade their car every year (on average for the last three years), but most of us can't afford to do that. Apparently someone can, and I am happy for them.

I agree. I'm also happy for Medusa and anybody else who can enjoy their cars as much as he (she?) does. Nuff said. BTW I'm a very happy person :)

Back to the thread. Canadian prices are currently about 9%-10% higher for the same model in the USA, just looking at dollar values. The exchange rate doesn't really apply since the cars are coming to Canada from Korea, not the USA. In other words, you can expect the 2015 US pricing to be about 10% less than those stated for the same Canadian model.

As 'whatever' stated, the increase for the new model is less than I would have thought given that AWD is standard - although I still really wish it was an option.
