The voice part of the navigation need lots of work! I've had the exact experience as you describe.
I think the whole electronic A/V system has to be viewed as a "work in progress"
It would be nice to program the system so that the display comes up with a default screen that you prefer and use most. And certainly NOT the goofy warning screen.
And, if you like the concept of voice recognition, in general, the voice system should be "trainable" to recognize a particular voice, and to allow one to create specific commands. For example, there are only a few voice commands for the radio, and nothing at all to turn the thing off - at least as far as I could find.
Lastly, the A/V documentation booklets are pretty awful - mainly a list of what the buttons do, and not really how to accomplish a task - start to finish.
Face it - under all the hype, the automotive industry is in its infancy when it comes to importing high tech electronics into the automotive environment.
It reminds me of when the industry first adopted transistor ignition systems in the '70's. Chrysler, in particular, did wonders for the towing industry, when the things started to fail in real world conditions.
But, not to worry - in five years when you buy your new Genesis, all the bugs will be worked out.
I have a lifetime of experience in tech - and I can readily appreciate what the industry is trying to do, and what they need to do.
