  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good looking car. I would like the new coupe to look like that also.

I'm pretty confident it's going to look SOMETHING like that. I just wonder how close they'll get it...

Let's hope Hyundai's designers don't stray too much from the HND-9 concept for the production design.

The new coupe will be going upmarket (compete against the likes of the Q60, the RC, etc.) and hence, will get a significant price bump.

Will also now be properly paired w/ Hyundai's upcoming compact RWD sports sedan (RK).

Yes, let's hope. And, yeah on that going up market. Hyundai is going up market with everything... It's not going to be a "value brand" for more than another generation or so...

^ I wouldn't say it's a value brand right now for its mainstream lineup.

The Nissan Versa takes the value crown in the subcompact segment.

The Elantra and Sonata have higher ATPs than the Corolla and Camry.

Kia still has to compete more on pricing - tho, otoh, they do attract more auto enthusiasts than Hyundai and more buyers are willing to open their wallets for a loaded Optima SX and SXL (the Optima has one of the highest ATPs in the midsize segment, higher than the Sonata even tho Hyundai is the stronger brand).

But you're right - it'll probably take another cycle of products before Hyundai really leaves that image behind (probably will still find some "old fogies" who will always think of Hyundai in that way, but there are still those who think Japanese cars are crap, as well as those who still think American cars are crap - kinda funny how that works).

It's just people being behind the times and/or unable to accept that things they didn't like years ago are now likable...

Well, I guess the price of Hyundai ownership has been going up consistently for awhile now. I also guess it's only the image that Hyundai needs to shed at this point.

The current Genesis Coupe starts at $23k and still no one buys it.

What makes hyundai think that they can sell the genesis coupe at a "premium" price?
