  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello folks, bought my brand new Genesis V6 Ultimate in June and everything was wonderful. Two months later I started to have vibrations through the steering column, and sporadic shakes on the highway which seems to be documented in these forums. On three seperate occasions that were documented, the service techs and managers felt what I was feeling and proceeded to balance the tires, replace the tires, then road force balance the tires to no avail.

I was told to not come back for service per the service manger to see what to do next, and I contacted the CEO who then set up an appt for the service and parts manager to take a look at the vehicle. He drove the car for 60 miles and decided the car was normal with no repairs or anything done to the vehicle. I waited three weeks to monitor and still the issue persists. I then contacted the CEO once more who has other managers emailing me. They state my problem is a "mystery problem" and they are done.

Amazing to me that it is documented three times, yet one gentlemen comes in out of state, determines the car is fine, and boom! That's it, you're stuck with the malfunctioning car which has a borderline safety issue with shakes on the highway.

I am getting ready to file a suit with the BBB because I am out of ideas here, if anybody is experiencing the same issue or can chime in with a BBB experience that would be wonderful! Really did love the car but with a persistent issue that is erratic and cannot be isolated, I am out of ideas. Thanks guys.

Not sure how well you will do with the BBB, but I guess it doesn't hurt.

First thing I would do is Google the lemon laws for your state (each state is different) and find out how to get the process started.

I mean I don't really know what to do next. I have followed my states (Nevada) lemon law to a tee so far. I have contacted them about it, used there in house policy which took 45 days and they refused it, and now I am here starting the process with the BBB.

Have you called Hyundai corporate? I'm sorry you're experiencing this, if you are getting nowhere with the local dealership and you feel like they are dismissing you it might be time to consider options that are more aggressive.

If you mean Hyundai Motor America (HMA) then yes I have. There website says to contact them before the BBB so that is what I did. That was the 45 day wait, which I was refused anything, then contacted Dave Zuchowski the CEO, and here I am now. Very surprised how this situation was handled, and definitely turned me off of the brand at this point although the vehicle has its high points.

You might want to get a lawyer.

You might want to get a lawyer.

I'm very new to all this, and it's extremely sad that it has to even get to this point. I thought the BBB appoints you a lawyer or something to that degree to help represent you and get the case solved. If not, what is the process with an actual lawyer?

I'd go to your local news with the story and get an attorney. Time to put some pressure on the dealership.

I have the same problem and have an attorney who filed on my behalf here in Michigan. You need to contact an attorney in Nevada. Good luck.

Did you try the BBB first? How many times was your car in for service and what's the update with yours? Thanks

Here's a link to my atty: http://lehtoslaw.com/ He's in MI and even though he can't represent you, he will talk to you and may be able to tell you who to contact in NV.

No - no BBB and so far no word from HMA. Good luck.

Is there a legal time limit on the response from HMA from the date you filed under Lemon Law ?

There may be but it probably varies state-to-state. In MI we have to send a Last Chance letter offering seven days for HMA a final opportunity to do a proper repair. If and when they don't respond (which they didn't) then the atty files suit.

In this instance, I am confused about the role of the BBB. While I recognize that states' lemon laws vary, I don't see what legal clout the BBB might have. Vendors choose whether to be a member of this organization (or not), and it's my understanding the BBB is a way for a business to appear reputable. If there is a dispute, BBB acts a as mediator between the customer and business, so that the business retains its (favorable) BBB rating. If not, the business only stands to lose it's rating - but the BBB has no legal power that goes beyond downgrading a member's rating. Shouldn't relief come for his state's lemon law? Other than the threat of negative PR for Hyundai and, perhaps, its dealer, BBB's involvement appears extraneous.

Are you sure it is not the lane departure warning? You will sense a vibration in the steering wheel if you depart or closely approach either the left or right side lane markings painted on the roadway. There is a camera in the forward portion of the front grille that senses this and provides a warning to the motorist. The vibration disappears when the vehicle is no longer near or on a pavement marking.

Does the shaking go away after >10mi, or is it persistent?

Have that turned off, so definitely not the case here. I have used it a couple times and am familiar with the system.

Does not go away ever. It is random, and I have yet to isolate it on any road surface, speed, or weather occurrence. Sometimes the car is smooth, sometimes it vibrates and it is very annoying.
