If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,

New member to the forum here - definitely looking to purchase a new Genny this fall. Since it's already July, I figured I would wait until the 2016's came out.

I've seen a couple threads regarding this topic before, but wanted to bring it up again as we start third quarter of the year. Has anyone heard any information regarding changes, estimated release date, etc?

Thanks in advance, and can't wait to be a Genesis owner myself!

So far, just unsubstantiated rumors. New cars are typically released in late summer or the fall (unless it is a completely new design, in which case it is usually released when it is ready).

I've been keeping my eye out for any information regarding the 2016 as the lease on my bimmer is not up until next March. As yet I've not seen a thing. I would particularly like to see a "bird's eye" view become available, fog lights for the 3.8, and a remote start from the fob. I'm not holding my breath though.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You can remote start the genesis from your phone.

Will the dealers close the door on leasing 2015,s when the 2016,s arrive? As I have noted you can no longer lease a 2014.

Thanks

Indeed, but it's easier to grab the fob and mash a button than it is to deal with an app on the phone. Also, I've seen reports that sometimes there is a time delay of up to 10 minutes with the phone. I really don't know how common that is.

Seems like 2 possibilities.

1. MCE - for 2017MY

2. An R-spec version (either with the new TTV6 or the Tau or maybe both; I'm leaning with just the TTV6 as the Tau in current form would be more luxo-cruiser oriented with a true performance line getting a new smaller displacement FI V8 sometime down the road).

Whatever the case may be, I'm hoping that they reshape the headlights - giving it a more sleek/aggressive shape.

Well, it's something, but as the first to comment said, "I think this is the R-Spec version." Maybe, maybe not; we shall see....

I doubt there will be much if any cosmetic or major engine changes this round in the cycle. It would be very unusual for any significant changes in the second year of a new model. It would be a good time correct or tweak smaller misses or issues (fog lights, running lights on auto, etc.) or change up option packages.

With gas prices so low now, they "might" introduce an R-Spec for 2016, but the regular Genesis is going to be pretty much the same for 2016 (maybe some minor tweaks). The photos above appear to be for 2017 refresh, not 2016.

I just assumed the electronic damping suspension on the 5.0 ultimate, bigger tires ect was to give R Spec performance when selecting sport mode. Other than tires and suspension, what were other R Spec differences on the 1st gen 5.0 non R Spec?

There is a delay of 10 minutes at time. I agree. Want both.. On FOB and and IOT apps...

Tires and wheels (1" size difference, quiet A/S W rated, verses more gum shoe rubber) , that is it for "performance". Bars, bushings, springs, struts, all the same regarding the one year produced 5.0 non-R first gen verses R-Spec. And some badging and interior bit. The Non R Also dumped the faux wood dash panels for leather.

I think the R-Spec had slightly different transmission shift points and ECU, even the though the engine and transmission was the same.

Which is why I stated MCE for '17MY.

Hyundai is in the midst of rolling out its '16MY models in Korea so anything w/ cladding and undergoing testing won't be until the next model yr at the earliest (usually see cladded prototypes undergoing road testing 12-18 months prior to launch).

Even a '17MY MCE would be (a yr early), but Hyundai may have decided to do so b/c the new 3.3 TTV6 (and maybe the new 10 spd AT) will be ready and the competition will get that much more fierce w/ a new 5 Series, E Class, etc. set to launch around then.

The alternative is that the 3.3 TTV6 is the R-Spec model (more sport oriented than the NA 3.8 or Tau) and hence gets tweaks up front and elsewhere to give it a more aggressive look.

Couple of week ago my regional rep confirmed Hyundai is bringing the Canadian genesis to the US sooo look forward to a 5.0 AWD R-Spec Model with a slight increase in HP(20 more). He didn't mention time frame but if I had to guess it's going to be for 2016.

I'd love to see an R-Spec iteration of the Genesis. performance differences may be negligible unless they go with the TT 6 cylinder but I think this car is a solid platform to start with.

That solid platform also translates into weight, which will add to the challenge of increasing performance. The decision to go for luxury and safety over sport, through the prodigious use of sound deadening and advanced high strength steel, etc. has a price. I have a suspicion any 'R-SPEC" version in the near term will be mostly a cosmetic enhancement, as was the previous generation.

True. The differences could be as simple as larger wheels with a different finish or different interior trim. Either way Hyundai has a very handsome car to begin with and I will be interested to see if this comes to fruition.

Is it odd that two dealers have said the 2016s should be out in August or September, and no one knows any specifics about the changes? I'm looking to buy one this fall, and any changes make a difference on whether I am planning for the 2015 or 2016.
