2016 Genesis sedan brakes 3.8

I just took delivery of 2016 Genesis sedan 3.8 today. Car drives great, but my concern is while driving around and braking it feels like brakes are not smooth but the steering wheel almost feels like vehicle is going into a like anti-lock or ABS mode. I feel odd like vibration, yet passenger does not feel this. It seems to only be in the steering.
I only have signature package added (no tech package or whatever the third package "premium?" is called).
This is my 3rd Genesis (prior 2010 and 2012 models), however this is my first experience with new body style. Is this normal or can anyone advise? because none of prior Genesis sedans did this. I am going to consult with dealer tomorrow if time allows and will post follow up.

What kind of tires on your car? I wonder if the dealer replaced the OEM tired due to Hankook recall, and warped the rotors by over-tightening the lugs.

Don't agree. It is a new vehicle. Just some rust build up on the rotors from sitting on the dealer lot.
The surface rust on the rotors transmit that pulsing sensation up through the steering during normal braking as the pads are contacting the variations between bare metal and rusted surfaces.

You could burnish them off yourself under some hard braking applications, but if you aren't comfortable doing that, then just return the vehicle to your dealer where the service tech can clean the rotor surfaces.

Or.... it could be the tires... there have been some reports of issues. I had my Road Force balanced, and while the vibration is almost gone, I still have a touch. Bring the car back, and have them diagnose the issue.

By the way, a couple of members had to swap for other tires to cure the issue. IIRC a couple went with Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06's, and I think one ended up with Pirelli's. There are more than a few folks with the Michelins that are not satisfied, yet other's have no issues.

I wouldn't think a 2016 has not been on a dealer lot for a long time, but it is possible. However, one can easily see the rotors thought the wheel spokes to see whether there is any rust buildup.

Thanks for the responses. I took it back and they think it is warped rotors. Tires are the new Michelin I belive, not the Hankook. What's ridiculous is I am in a temp brand new, while they have yet to get to resolving the issue, service dept was backed up. I will post update on what it was once I am notified. It had like 18 miles on it when signing and taking it. The new loaner is def not doing it so has to be brake issue.

It's def not tires because I took it out at high speed and no issue. Only when braking.

If indeed it was warped rotors, you should insist on new rotor replacements instead of resurfacing them.

Yes the kid at the port facility who installs mud guards wants those wheels _TIGHT_. His dad ran the shrink wrapping machine for compact discs. _TIGHTER_ TIGHTER_

I had a very similar experience: The vending dealer resurfaced the rotors and i haven't been back to them since. Another better dealer replaced them, as it should be.

Not to defend car dealers (which I seldom do), the decision to resurface the rotors might have been done with good intentions - your dealership had no new rotors in stock and wanted to complete the repair in one visit. Resurfacing the existing ones might actually cost the dealer additional labor versus replacing the rotors which would have been completely reimbursable.

You can read the sad story of my brakes elsewhere on the forums. It was a lack of communication or maybe it wasn't. I asked them "are you going to replace them later?" and they said "only if Hyundai makes us".

So I was done with them.

Okay so update from my original post was the issue was my brakes. They did some type adjustment on calipers and resurfaced the rotors, so now it is fine. Now my final issue is my clear coat, I think,,,,it looks like when they possibly removed that white plastic film before selling. It looks like clear coat has some scuffng, but it can't be felt and compound wax does not remove.

I took delivery of a 3.8 AWD Ultimate yesterday and I've put about 150 miles on it. I notice the vehicle shuddering when using moderate braking. Also, I have a vibration/shuddering when I hit 80 mph on the freeway. Car had 24 miles on it when I purchased it.

I also have windshield distortion (in front of driver), but that's another subject.

We just moved to Columbus and don't really know yet where our travels will take us.

We also have a very steep driveway and when it's wet and covered with leaves it's very slippery.

I really like AWD (on all my vehicles). When the road is covered in water there's no issue when turning from a stop with moderate acceleration.

IMO, Hyundai Genesis AWD (unlike most others) burns up too much extra gas for use in warm climates. But if someone has a very steep driveway, that would be a different consideration.
