If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone have any info on when the 2016 Genesis will be released in the US? Any changes from the 2015?

been searching.. no news out there... curious if they'll put the 3.3 liter engine in the 2016 and fix some of the glitches I've read on this forum.

Considering its the first year for the 2nd gen I wouldn't expect much in the way of changes. You don't want to piss off owners of the 2015 that just got theirs.

Considering its not likely until fall, not surprised little info yet.

I agree that the 2016 is not likely to be in US until fall of 2015.

The 3.3 engine has been around since 2008 in the KDM Genesis, so I don't see it all of a sudden coming to the US in 2016, especially with gas prices a lot lower this year than before. If people are speculating about a 3.3 Turbo, would obviously be a different matter.

Lexus's done it with their Lexus from 13 introduction to 14. They included "cross traffic alert, LED fog lamps, flush parking sensors, automatic power folding side mirror". A lot of people end up trying to retrofit some of them.

If Hyundai is listening to its customers, I would assume Hyundai will have to upgrade the head light to include LED DRL. They should include fog lights as well, as pointed out by many members here and journalists.

I think they should just offer another package, called it "Prestige" and include options that are offered in other markets, "3rd zone climate control/audio control, quad headlight with LED DRL, Fog lights, adjustable suspension, soft closing doors". That should be about 3-5k option package? That should push close to 60k for Genesis. However, as pointed out by many journalists, some genesis owners might have issue going to the same dealer as 15k Accent at that price point, I think.

I think NSXNEXT is right about there not being too many changes for the 2016 Genesis - but there should be a few to keep progress going in the right direction. I doubt the twin turbo 3.3 liter will be available to replace the 3.8 this early on but it's not impossible. I'm sure it'll make the car feel more like the 5.0 liter.

I like 15GenesisAWD's idea of a "Prestige" package with the added features he mentioned. Yes, that would bump up the price of the Genesis but there are surely people who will have no issue paying extra for things that the package would come with.

I think there are a good portion of people who feel less happy about coming to a dealership to pay for a $60k Genesis while there's a $15k Accent available in the same showroom. But keep in mind that people do go to Chevy for a $100k+ Corvette with a $12k Spark in the showroom. :)

I do too. The problem however may be getting dealers to stock a $60K+ car that will appeal to an even smaller subset of Hyundai buyers. The Equus also may have been an example of that for many dealers - I do see a lot of them languishing on lots. Until we know how Genesis sales are going and the model split, hard to tell if there is an appetite for another one that nears the price of the prestige brands that the masses pick.

Yeah, stocking it might be an issue. But - options are a great thing. I have a feeling we're going to start seeing Genesis standalone dealerships in the not too distant future. I mean - these cars are just too good. It's like selling Lexus at a Toyota or Scion dealership. The new Genesis is amazing. "Our" first Equus is really impressive and I can only imagine the next model is going to be better. The next Genesis Coupe is going to bring a lot more to the table than the current model does.

All Hyundai needs is a solid luxury Crossover SUV and a standalone dealership would work.

Just my opinion, Acura has success when they a all in one price point of 35K for a fully loaded TL back when it was introduced. I see allot of inventory on the lots for the genesis, but I think the price is way over what people are looking to pay for a luxury car from Hyundia, maybe 45K loaded is more of a sweet spot for the vehicle.

Hyundai may indeed be moving up on the price scale too quickly. $38k is start is a high price for the typical Hyundai owner. On the other hand - the car is worth it.

A MUCH worse example is the Kia K900. $69k, loaded or not, is a lot of money for Kia's first real luxury car. (no, I'm not the guy in the reflection. :p)

I am also waiting for the 2016 model year of the current generation Genesis. My wife and I will be in the market for a midsize sedan later this year and the Genesis is currently on top of our list. I just hope that they change the headlights similar to the KDM version and also make the fog lights available to the 3.8 AWD version. Apple CarPlay is also on our wish list. We currently have a 2014 MDX and it is the wife's daily driver. I am currently driving a small sedan to work and I can't wait to upgrade.

Just curious, what do you consider a large sedan?

Depends on what you mean by large. It's all relative. If by large you mean full size sedans, then that would be Hyundai Equus, BMW 7 series, Audi A8, to mention a few. The Genesis is slightly larger than most midsize sedans like BMW 5 series and Audi A6 but I think its still classified as a midsize sedan based on what Hyundai advertises as the Genesis' competitors.

The Genesis is blessed with a midsized footprint meaning it's no larger than a typical midsize car in exterior dimensions but has the interior space of a SWB full size. The downside is a full size like weight penalty for all high strength steel instead of aluminum.

The 2015 Genesis is classified as a large car. See link below

EPA Classification - Large Car

US News classifies it as a midsize car. It ranks 2nd in their list of best upscale midsize cars.

I guess it really doesn't matter. I wouldn't mind it being classified as a full size/large sedan. What matters is it's a very good car.
