  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 LED DRL's

Does the addition of the fog lights for 2016 LOOK any different when viewing from the front? Are there any side-by-side comparisons of the 2015 and 2016?
Looks the same as 2015 V8 versus V6:

with fog lights (there are fog lights ;)):

Without fog lights (there are black filler pieces with chrome strips where the fog lights would be):

Glad I caught this thread because, without actually looking, I assumed the LEDs WERE the DRLs on my new 2015 as they were on my previous Lexus GS350, and many other late model vehicles I see on the road. I'm a bit disappointed and don't understand the design choice.

It is the most confounding miss in the 2015. The fact they added it on the 2016 proves that it was an oversight. Hard to understand the decision - it was likely not financial as the LED's were already there - simply wiring harness changes, besides the fact the non-U.S. version had them.

I think otherwise, I hate those common led strips you see out on the road all the time. Is getting old

I felt that way originally but, over time, have changed my opinion. While it's not a big deal to me, I feel that the amber bulbs don't fit as well with the more modern design of the G2- but it's very subjective:

I agree completely.

I like the LEDs - they make the car look like it's scowling, about to eat you...

Are these brighter than the 15's ?

The USA 15's did not have these (Canadian models did). The 2016 LED's are definitely brighter as DRL's than when on as just parking lights - not sure if they are brighter than when they are on as headlight surrounds as well as I don't have one yet!

Sure they did. I drive my 15 in parking light mode all the time. They are lit. When you shut off the car - they shut off when you open the door. Just like my 11 Azera.

This may yield me the answer I am seeking. Trying to see if I want to swap them out - or find out of there are just electronics that take care of this so I can keep mine in my car. I'd love to have them brighter.

Using the parking lights for DRL's is not the same as the 2016 DRL's - in parking light mode they are pathetically dim in daylight and your tail lights are on as well.

I posted extensively on this - the 2015/2016 headlights are likely identical - the difference is in the wiring harness and upstream electronics, so complex and expensive - If even possible - to activate the LED DRL's on a 2015.

It has to be wiring harness and power, as it would be hard to believe the light housing assembly is different. If that is the case, someone smart may be able to figure the wiring to raise the brightness on the LED's, if they are not different LES's in the surround housing. I can live without it in DRL mode (a la 2016), as I drive like you with parking lights on all the time anyway.

I don't care if they are on in DRL mode, I just want them that bright when on at all (parking light mode). I do not mind the tail lights on - I actually prefer them all at all times.
