  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Where an I get the right rear deck Wing emblem for a 2016 3.8? Thought I saw on forum could get them for about $20 or so. Need the link if anyone has it. Want to make sure I have the right one for a 2016 REAR deck

2016 is same as 2015.

Y'know... that was the first thing that bugged me about my new car, and the first thing I had corrected. Lexus doesn't put a Toyota emblem on their trunks. Infiniti doesn't put a Nissan emblem on their trunks. Acura doesn't put a Honda emblem on their trunks. What was Hyundai thinking?

Since the Genesis is the premium brand, why did they decide to put the "lazy H" emblem on the trunks of the Genesis? (Genesi? What's the plural of Genesis?)

My dealer told me that the "wings" emblem comes automatically on the 5.0 but the 3.8 makes do with the down-scale emblem. I think if Genesis is to become a "standalone" brand with its own dealer network as the reports have stated, perhaps this is the first thing Hyundai should recognize: When someone pays the $$ for a premium brand, they don't want it cheapened with a different logo or emblem. It kinda' destroys pride of ownership.:( By the looks of many comments (and signature lines) on this forum, it appears I am not alone in my thinking.

1) That seems a bit over the top to me. Toyota and Nissan decided from the outset that Lexus and Infiniti would be separate brand streams - so of course they would not put a Toyota or Nissan emblem on the trunk. Hyundai only decided more or less yesterday to make Genesis a separate brand stream (HOW separate remains to be seen) and given that they are two models years into the second generation of the Genesis sedan, an indignant "What were they thinking!?!" about the trunk emblem seems misplaced.

2) I think your dealer is wrong about the 2016 V8 getting the wing and the V6 getting the H.

3) If you find that the H makes you feel like your car is cheap and destroys your pride in ownership, it is an inexpensive fix. Not judging, but with so much to like about the car, I can't really imagine the badge sucking the joy out of it at all, much less significantly.

4) For the 2017 MY the sedan will be rebadged / rebranded as the Genesis G80. If they put a Hyundai trunk badge on THAT, you will have something to be indignant about.

Actually, it's possible that the dealer is right and the 2016 5.0 does have the rear wings - it's just that no one has ever seen a 2016 5.0 yet ;) :D

This has been discussed many times since 2009. In Korea, the Genesis and Equus do not have Hyundai badging.

The reason has been explained many times by Hyundai Motor America management. It has been documented in the media and on this forum.

The idea of selling the Genesis/Equus as a Hyundai in the USA was to "improve the brand" image of Hyundai. Hyundai has had a brand image problem in the US due to their disastrous introduction to the US market in the mid 1980's, mainly due to quality issues. There are still many Accord and Camry buyers who do not even test drive or even consider a Sonata because of this prior reputation problem. Hyundai Motor America will live or die on US sales of Elantra, Sonata, etc, not on whether they sell a few more Genesis models.

The bad reputation of Hyundai autos from the 1980's is also the reason why they offer a 10 year - 100K mile powertrain warranty to original owners, while their competition does not have to do that.

Obviously, Hyundai makes much better quality vehicles now compared to the 1980's, or even 10 years ago. But they have also done a very good job with marketing them in the USA. So I don't think anyone on this forum is in a position to question their marketing decisions so far on this issue.

Regarding the claim that the rear wing emblem on the 5.0 in the USA for 2016 is dealer BS. Maybe they meant it is how the dealer preps the cars.

The dealer changed mine upon my request. Free of charge but they didn't have to do that.
