  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2018 Genesis G80 Sport Trim Debuts With 3.3 Liter Turbocharged Engine

I don't just "come off" as cranky, I am cranky. After 7 1/2 yeas and over 10,000 posts my crankiness shouldn't be a surprise when I have to say the same things over and over that anyone other than a first time car buyer should already know about.

Why do people expect to have a relationship with car salesman like they would with a priest or a doctor?

I understand how you feel but I'd like us to keep in mind that:

1. Not everyone sees the posts where you mention this
2. Not everyone is or wants to be knowledgable about the car buying process - they just want to "do it" when they need to

To you and I - and many others - it's common sense and common knowledge that car sales people are constantly in "always be closing" mode - and more often than not do not answer questions with the intention of doing anything but just that. But to others - they've just not learned that yet. I know it's annoying when somebody comes along and doesn't already know this but if you put yourself in their shoes it makes for a very bad experience - especially when first signing up. I think it would be better if you saved your time and avoided answering questions you feel someone should already have the answer to rather than make them feel they've done something wrong by asking...

Actually, it is often some others who are much more cranky about the "dealer experience" and other such fantasies. I find it extremely annoying when others complain and act like crybabies about Genesis (or Hyundai) not having a perfect and luxurious buying experience when it is obvious that it will take time for Genesis Motors to get going as a separate brand.

I never suggested it wrong to "ask" a question. I am just amazed that people can be so naïve as to believe what a car salesman tells them.

Hopefully, I'm posting this link correctly. I just stumbled across these SWEET pics of a black G80 sport. OMG....

Thank you! It looks quite evil in black. :p

I hear ya, Mark. I know you're not suggesting it's wrong - it's just that people get the feeling you are. That doesn't necessarily make what you're doing WRONG - but sometimes perception is everything. I don't want to scare away people who are genuinely here looking for help who could potentially one day provide support to other new people looking for help.

When all is said and done - I don't feel like I'm being Satan here. My intention is to make everyone feel comfortable. I know that cannot happen 100% of the time. But I'm doing my best. I want YOU to be comfortable speaking your mind regarding naivety - and I want OTHERS to feel comfortable accepting your constructive criticism. And that means if you're going to give it - try to do so in such a manner that people can accept what you're saying instead of deflecting it. Remember, a man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still...

It's ok. Not a fan of the new face but like the grill grate. Rims are horrible!:(

+1... you are awesome for taking the time to defend the masses.

Hey guys, how about that sweet G80 Sport that just got announced? Looks like its gonna be a pretty nice car come next year. Is anyone else as excited as I am for more pictures and details including pricing information?

Yeah, does anyone wanna attempt to guess the price of this thing?

The 2017 G80 3.8 sits at $41,400. The 5.0 sits at $54,550. Do you think this model would be in-between those two, or as expensive as the 5.0?

Those prices are misleading/ The $41,400 for the 3.8 is for the Base Trim level, and the $54,550 is the V8 which includes the Ultimate Package. The 3.8 with Ultimate Package is $50,350 (but that does not even include all the features of the 5.0 Ultimate Package).

Looking at the difference between the G90 5.0 V8, and 3.3TT V6, I would expect the price of the G80 Sport 3.3TT V6 to be pretty close to the G80 5.0 V8. But it may depend on how many different Trim Levels are offered for the G80 Sport 3.3TT V6.

I think Mark's right. I think the G80 V6 Sport is going to be VERY CLOSE to the price of the V8. I know you said "pretty" close, Mark. But I'm thinking it's going to be a lot closer than most think. I don't see what the "advantage" of the V8 will be to price it much higher...

I'm expecting that the G80 Sport will be shown at the New York auto show where I hope to see it on display. I'm the owner of the original 2009 Genesis, but being semi retired have driven so few mile that I've only 30,000 miles to date. I'll be looking to trade prior to the expiration of the 10 year warranty and from what I see online the 3.3 TT-V6 sport would be very attractive to my taste.

Anybody know what is meant by "multi-view camera"? I know Hyundai has a surround camera system available for this car in other markets. Are there any indications on if this is coming to the US for 2018?

Here's a quick video of the G80 sport from the LA Auto Show.
According to the video review posted above, the G80 Sport 3.3TT comes standard with a 9.2" display. That suggests to me that, like the 2012-2014 Genesis R-Spec sedan, the G80 Sport will only come in a fully loaded model, and will be close to the G80 5.0 V8 Ultimate in price.

So the 2018 has a 9.2" display with the DIS and is supposed to support Android Auto and Carplay. Anyone know if it's the same system as in the 2017 Ultimate, or did they change it? It sure would be nice to get an update making our 17's Android Auto capable.

I said that the Genesis G80 Sport V6 3.3TT has 9.2" display with the DIS as standard. There will also be a G80 3.8L and 5.0L in various trim levels, some trim levels with the 9.2" display with the DIS (and some without it).

All 2018 G80's will have Android Auto and Carplay.

The above info is based on claims made by the reviewer in the video linked in an above post.

Just taking a guess based on the YouTube video description, the 17-Speaker Lexicon system in the 2018 G80 may be similar to 2017 G90, which is a little different than the previous Lexicon's (but I don't know for sure, and don't have any details on that).
