  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2019 G70 Dead battery issues

I use the under-hood spot to charge. I have not yet needed to jump start the battery yet.
Do not charge the battery directly at the terminals. If you have to, then use the chassis as -ve. There is a warning in the service manual regarding this:

The way around that is to hook up the charger positive to battery positive and charger ground to a body ground. This allows the flow of power
through the battery sensor.

Anyone ever get resolution or figure out the cause? This has happened to me 2x in the last 2 days. Similar message of something external draining the battery. Suspiciously, my right rear turn signal light went out shortly after jumping the car. I left the burnt bulb in overnight while getting a replacement, however removed it after the second day.

As a followup to my last post incase someone finds this thread in the future. My issue was indeed my rear passenger LED replaced turn signal. After replacing it and doing nothing else, the car returned to normal. I suppose texas heat and the built in resistor didn't get along and caused a short. Strange that would cause the battery drain, but I suppose anything is possible with new tech.

If you guys are leaving the key fob inside or in range of the car I believe the battery will completely discharge.

I left my key in my car and locked it with the app a few times so I could go for a run - just 30-60 minutes, and the morning after I got that battery discharge warning when I start it up. Hasn’t happened since I stopped doing that.

I wonder if the 2019's have batteries that are weakened from sitting at the port for like 6 months. The current heat might be pushing them over line. About 20 years ago, my wife drove our Accord to a store in Houston in the summer. She came back out, and the car wouldn't start due to the battery. In Michigan, you usually get an indication that your battery is weak when the first cold hits. In the heat, they just seem to die.
