  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2020 G90 (USA)

When a local dealer told me the residual depends on the monthly payments, I knew they were rigging the deal. You are right, setting the residual low and asking for money up front keeps the cash flow in high gear. But then again, if the Germans can get away with it, so can Hyundai.
I don't know they are getting away with anything, you just have to look at the numbers. Car dealers have been luring customers with all sort of deals for years.
Headline: You can lease a (fill in name of luxury car) for $10 a month.
Fine print: With down payment of $ 59,000 and limit of 1000 miles a year.

I did lease a car 30 years ago. Only reason I leased, cash was tight, down payment was very low, payments affordable. At the end of the lease I bought it. Since then I chose to purchase and have a trade when I wanted new.

Leasing is not magic. The bank is buying the car and letting you use it. In the end they want to sell it at a profit. You can play the numbers many ways to make it work.

Residual is set by Genesis and can't be changed by the dealers. The amount of residual depends on the trim and annual mileage.
Money Factor is set by the bank that Genesis finance use to fund the lease deal. The dealer can inflate the money factor. Genesis finance definitely have profit in the money factor, which is normal.

See attachment. The residual is left as a mystery. The total payments in the calculation omit the 6,500 up front cash, so where does that go? The total contribution of about 44K plus taxes and fees means you pay over 60% of sticker making a purchase with a decent discount not a bad option.
By contrast, my G80 at 43,000 had a lease payment of 390.00 including all taxes and fees and 0 money up front. I am all for businesses making money, but dayum.
Having leased cars for way over 25yrs with multiple car brands, the most I have paid is 1.15 of sticker a month with zero down and taxes financed in the lease. This is 1.6 all in before taxes and a mystery/magic residual. Gotta get that cash to finance the brand separation.

I though the residual was determined by the finance company and is not subject to negotiation. The residual should be the same for every buyer for the same term and mileage.

You are right and I agree. Residuals should be based on the real expectation of how much a car will depreciate through the lease term and taking into consideration the mileage of the term (set for eah car). The deal on the attachment seems to make the residual a moving target depending on how much they get the customer to pay. I'd be cautious of dealers doing that..

Visited the dealership to check out the new G90. First, let me say that I have owned a genesis when they first came out and upgraded to the Equus. I loved both cars and would highly recommend them. The new G90 is not an Equus, interior finishes need a long way to go. Grey piping and stitching along with a wood grain interior that has the look of embossed kitchen contact paper just doesn't work ( A sports look, doesn't work on a luxury car ). I have been a loyal Hyundai customer for years and have also purchased no less than 4 other Hyundai models. Great cars, but this Equus owner will move on to the S Class. Hopefully, Hyundai will restore the Equus to its Genesis line up. The ultimate look, feel and driving luxury for the price. Think about it, I will need a new car in a couple of years again, would like to come home to Hyundai.

With the G90 I doubt that Genesis/Hyundai will ever begin selling the K900. Kia currently sells only 20-30 K900's per month in the US I just hope they keep offering it here.

The K900 was never brought here in any significant numbers. Even now you can barely find any new ones for sale. The only reason it seems to exist in the US is to give some of the slightly better-performing Kia dealerships a vehicle to put as the centerpiece of their showrooms.

Holy hell... good to see the passion for these cars on here. (I am an avid guitarist, so it felt like I was reading a Gibson guitar forum where opinions are white-hot and varied on any slight change the company does. hehe). Passion is good.

I just received my 2020 G90 5.0. Loaded.

Yes, I LOVE the wheels. They are beyond gorgeous. Art.

Yes, I LOVE the grill! Bold, confident, aggressive.., but not too much --- it says "look at me" without any anxiety or arrogance. It's not a monster-truck over-the-top sort of display. No. It's just a damn confident statement: "I know what I am!"

When reading this thread, I got the sense some (or many) commenters have only seen the 2020 redesign through pictures. Go see it! It is a gorgeous car.

I've had it for about 10 hours now, so still in the honeymoon phase. (But I've already figured out everything with its setup/infotainment system - so VERY easy and intuitive). I'm almost disappointed that I've already customized everything to my tastes.

A great car.

Agree with DarinG90. Best G90 yet. I do miss the Genesis logo on the rear though. I put my own on.

Oh? Please show me. I gotta admit, I would have prpeferred the old wings to that big GENESIS word across the entire back. Did you take the letters off?

I did it myself the mickey mouse way, easy way. Re positioning letters would be the ideal but would require professional. I will upload picture. Because of the Camera and trunk opener switch, I could not put the badge where I wanted to.

I LIKE IT! I could see removing the GENESIS and putting those large wings in it's place. That's a big badge - where did you get it?

Removing the Genesis would be ideal.
I got it on Amazon because frankly I expected to return it and there is a UPS Amazon return very close to me. You can buy it on this site too I believe. There is no G90 badge so bought the G80 package of both trunk and hood. I put the front hood badge on the back because it is slightly bigger.
Caveat: You have to file down the little plastic nubs that are on the back. Then peel the tape and press on! lol.
I bought a $49 dremel tool at Home depot to file it down but any file will do if you are careful.

Looks out of place in the bottom. Needs to go above the GENESIS. Just my opinion. Nice car.

This looks like embossed kitchen contact paper?

Looks my hardwood maple floors in my house.
