  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2020 Genesis G90 5.0 V8 Review - Sounds great! Loud, Bold & Luxury Sedan from Genesis.

I fear they are following Toyota/Lexus for design. I agree Sedona, Moderate and "classy" simplicity is the best solution. Prevents the car from becoming dated over time.

I did not like the wheels at first. I thought the original reminded me of turbines. But when you stare at these, they still have that turbine look...they actually look like what you might see deeper inside...almost like the meshing of turbine gears. It grows on me.

The headlight theme carries around to the back, while you can quickly say it looks like a Lincoln, the Lincoln does not have the 4 headlight theme in the front, so you could argue the G90’s design elements are more thematic.

How tall was the Asian guy? He made the head room in the backseat look greatly reduced.

Asian Petrolhead drives the hell out of it; I like how he tests it!

I don’t like the GENESIS spelled out in the rear. I would peel those right off if they are adhesively attached.

Yeah, but it still looks like a Lincoln from the rear... I wonder if any Korean wonderkid has made an aftermarket element to hide the "Lincoln lights"? I photoshopped away the Lincoln lights and think I could live with that new rear.

OF COURSE the GENESIS should be taken off, that would be my first thing to do.

I forget what car everybody compared the 2017 G90 rear tail lights to, but it was the same thing.

Have to see them on the road and in different lights and lit up at night before I will write it off.

Porsche uses similar lights. Lincoln, Porsche, Genesis... Seriously.

JORDAN STATION, Ont. — “An oasis on wheels.”

Without a doubt, that’s the best description I have heard to explain the Genesis G90, the company’s flagship sedan. The big (5,205 millimetres long) four-door enters the 2020 model year vastly redesigned inside and out, with a focus on hedonistic levels of comfort and convenience. So upgraded, it’s better equipped to take on its primary rivals — the Mercedes S-Class and Lexus LS — as well its competition from Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Porsche, and Tesla.

Don't quite understand where this Lincoln taillights thing is coming from...

The Conti's tailights look a lot like the old Azera's.

Last year’s G90 had a centre console finished in glossy black plastic that’s now been replaced by leather and open pore ash wood, and the aluminum accent trim pieces throughout are the real deal, too.

A needed improvement.

Last year’s G90 was a smooth and quiet car, but the 2020 model is even more serene. Suspension bushings are improved to better the ride, while additional sound absorbing pads, particularly in the rear parcel shelf and C-pillar areas, build on the tomb-like silence of the cockpit. Genesis has even improved upon the three-seal doors, and it all results in road and engine noise being virtually non-existent, and wind noise is banished completely.

And of course, with such a long wheelbase, the G90 glides along the highway as if levitating slightly above it. Even some cringe-worthy potholes encountered along our drive route were barely perceived behind the wheel, owing to the impressive ride manners.

But the G90 isn’t a floaty handful when hustled around curves either. While still a very large and heavy machine, the big sedan nevertheless drives like a mid-sized sedan when asked to perform. It’s far from the nimbleness of the G70, but for a full-size luxo-cruiser, the G90 need not apologize for itself when the driver demands some pace.

While the article states that the facelifted G90 is set to arrive in Canada within the next few months, think at least 1 already hit the lot last month and was sold.

Think the article is a bit off about the design/style (most people don't know jack about design) being generic and even more so about the complaint that it gets expensive.

I agree with Sedona completely. At first I thought I would just change out the wheels with something else , but the back end? It is so horrendous that I could never replace my 2017 model. Now will keep it for a while until the Genesis designers rethink their plans

I hope it hits the U.S. showrooms before end of the year. Several early G90 lessee from late 2016 and early 2017 will be due for a new car around that time. If G90 showed up late Q1 there will be several lost lease/sell transactions.
Don't know yet if Genesis extends the lease contact and for how long and what terms.

I don’t think that is possible.

In the past I believe they have allowed you to extend the contract and there is no reason to believe they wouldn’t continue to do so.

Difference is that for Porsche, they are simply the running lights (clustered around the actual headlamp module).

For Genesis, they are actually 4 separate headlamp modules.

Wouldn't leave it entirely out of the realm of possibility that we'll see the 2020 G90 before the end of the year.

The main reason for the delay (getting it after Canada) is that up north, they have been selling the 2019MY for a good bit longer.

It'll likely come down to how many 2019s Genesis dealerships have left in stock; it's not like Genesis has still been manufacturing the 2019s (likely haven't for quite some time).

As noted in the sales thread, last month the G90 absolutely crushed the LS 500 in sales up in Canada - 27 to 4.

With all respect to Canada, I think it's safe to say this car will need substantial US sales if it is to survive. That's why I don't understand the release schedule.

In my particular case, I've all but ruled the 2020 G90 out anyway. I just can't get past those wheels and even if I could, Hyundai has not included a TFT instrument cluster since the Equus, while their sister company [Kia] has it easily available in their K900 model and the Mercedes-Benz S Class has offered it for years now. This painfully reminds me of when they left Car Play and Android Auto out of our 2015 Genesis [G80] models while including it in lessor models with no up charge. I just don't understand Hyundai's logic and so I'm afraid to commit to another vehicle purchase from them.

I hope so too. I got my 2017 G80 the day after Christmas 2016. I would like to get in a 2020 model so i am going to reach out to Genesis finance to see if we can work out an extension. I hope they can compromise.

The front end looks like Swarovski got a hold of the Superman's crest. Too funny.

I'm going to disagree w/ the guys about the copying part - how else does one want a luxo-cruiser to ride?

As for the G70, it went for the E90 feel (thanks to Biermann).

The wheels aren't my cup of tee, but can kinda see how it goes w/ the overall design; the looks of the facelifted G90 looks more to be a Bentley/Rolls competitor than an S Class/7 Series competitor.

I'm sure the next gen G90 will get an even more plush interior, but aside from little quibbles, don't have any major issues w/ the interior (currently, it's the Genesis model that can stand up to the competition in terms of material and design).

Of course, it needs weight reduction (which the next gen model will get), but it also needs an increase in performance/torque to better compete w/ the Germans - which the new 3.5TT should help in that respect, but even that won't be enough (going to need battery/electric motor assist).

If $$ were no issue, would take an Alpina B7, but would take the G90 over the Germans taking price into account (and over the LS 500 irrespective of price).

Surprised the Canadian G90 didn't get the full digital cluster (or is it an option)?

No full digital cluster in the new G90.
Was surprised they also took away the two rear screens in G90 V8.
