  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2022 G70 Now Available to Build

The pictures they have say non US model shown which is annoying, I put in a request for the 3.3t RWD sport prestige package. HUD display was clearly stated as a feature of the prestige package when I was configuring so that is there for sure. If they don’t have the digital cluster I might just wait for the new C class because that interior is absolutely gorgeous. I’m also considering the gv70 but if the digital cluster is only on the 3.5 prestige that is probably going to be out of my price range since I’m guessing that will be around 60-65k USD
Yeah I see it has it just not sure if it’s gonna be as large as in the G80? The GV70 might make me reconsider my no SUV mindset as well.

From my understanding this is what the 8inch digital cluster is. In my opinion, I’m not a fan of it because it just looks odd. This is the 8inch cluster on the g80 and GV80 that is standard if you don’t upgrade to the 12.3 inch one. Based on the g70 configuration pictures that I saw yesterday, this seems to the be the 8inch digital cluster referenced on the g70 landing page.

No bueno.

Might not be a dealbreaker to some as everyone has their own preferences. But to me it’s disappointing that in 2021, the clusters aren’t fully digital. This is like a hybrid cluster which imo, makes it worse. I hope when they release the final US details the 12.3 makes the cut for the G70. Doesn’t look too promising as the G70 page on the website says 8inch cluster and doesn’t even mention an available 12.3 inch cluster as an option.

I agree man. Or at least give me the option.

Yea I’ll pay extra for it, there’s absolutely no reason for why they shouldn’t have it. It’s available as an option in the G80 and GV80. This is my first big purchase and I’ve been keeping an eye since the reveals last fall. Wanted to get a luxury vehicle that was not the typical luxury brand, but Genesis is making that hard with the digital cluster limitation since that’s important to me as a driver.

Having seen the new 3D cluster looking at the old one irks me. Not being able to get the red interior (Maybe for the initial drop?) outside of the launch edition is bogus to me as well. I’ve been waiting for this car since i was suddenly back in the market but now I’m not sure.
I think they have to be keeping the red interior exclusive only for the first model year, if not less. No way they would go through the trouble of developing it only to not offer it in the US market for more than 500 units.

I love me some red too. Will have to see it in person to know for sure but I think it looks good. Also looks like the awd version doesn’t get the heated steering wheel. That seems odd.
Also why does the 2.0 get more interior color options?
THIS! I am so baffled as to why the 2.0 and lower trims have more interior colors. I really want that Dune color, but I want it in a top trim Sport! Really dumb packaging, which is unfortunately becoming a trend with the brand.

I would encourage everyone who is unhappy about the apparent lack of a digital gauge cluster to call Genesis customer care and make it known. I did so earlier and they said it would be passed onto their marketing department, so if enough people do the same maybe there’s hope. I know I’m grasping at straws though lol.

^ why? Do you know 100% it is not coming to the US?
It’s easy to make an assumption that it most likely will not for the g70, on the US website it specifically mentions an available 12.3 inch digital cluster for the g80 and GV80. For the g70 it specifically mentions there is an 8 inch digital cluster. Does not say anything about 12.3 inch cluster being an option. I’m starting to do research on other luxury cars to gauge other options. Probably leaning towards Lexus at this point as I am a fan of their simplistic digital gauges on the f sport trims.

^ yeah...but the US website has a loosey goosey build that doesn't even show pricing...it's probably not even official yet. Genesis always does this. A preliminary build to play with...then they update it with the real data.

If you are going to consider the IS, I would recommend driving it a couple times before you pull the trigger. I drove it twice in the last couple of weeks and while it looks good IMO, I wouldn't buy it. Car feels very old and the interior looks old. Didn't like the steering feel or the squishy seats. That car needed a redesign not a refresh. It dates back to the 2014 model year! I also drove the Volvo S60 and the G70, liked the G70 the best. Will decide in the Fall, don't need a new car this minute while stuck at home...

Thanks for the advice, Lexus has a 0% APR deal for the IS til March 31st in the Dallas area, so I might go for a test drive soon. If I like the IS and still have no update from genesis on the 12.3 inch digital cluster for the G70, I might have a touch choice to make.

Would love to hear your thoughts after you drive it. Not sure what you drive now... I have a 2015 BMW 228i, stick shift. Didn't like the IS at all, but people have different tastes. Good luck.

I have a 2016 Honda civic right now, so I would imagine that the IS would be a better drive. I’m big on reliability too, which is why I was kind of swayed towards Genesis (wanted a non typical luxury brand) as compared to German brands and Lexus. Genesis has above average reliability from what I’ve read. Obviously Lexus is always near the top when it comes to reliability. I like the IS refresh with the new exterior styling. Just gotta see how it drives.

What's so special about the digital dash? I don't know if it's the same but we have one in our new Santa Fe. It shows blind spots in the dash when doing a lane change...not sure what else it does so far I haven't seen anything all that impressive with it.

Yeah...I agree. It's not like the Audi...where you can switch Nav and do crazy stuff. The blind spot thing is cool...but if you have been driving for 20+ years...it makes no difference...LOL.

It just has digital tach and speedo...that changes styles. The 3D stuff...meh. I look at my HUD 99% of the time anyway. Not sure why folks are freaking out.

To each his own I guess.

I am more worried about the engines...and options other than red interior !

The Lexus IS just old. Pun intended. I wanted to get another GS after totaling mine I loved it so much but couldn’t bring myself to buy the same car two+ years later and they hadn’t changed a single thing. An I don’t like the IS styling or any Lexus model anymore for that matter soo that’s a no for me dawg. Let me know what you think if you try it.

The red gives me vibes lol that’s all I can say. But that might be cause my first ever car purchase had red guts so I’m biased. As for the tach who knows if it’ll get that Audi style in the future since it would be able to get OTA updates but with what they got now not likely. An again at least give us the choice in the G70 it’s already getting the short end of the stick compared to the rest of the family (Kia/Hyundai).
