  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Recently I saw another post describing someone scratching their R-Spec 19" alloy trying to pry off the "H" wheel cap. Ouch!

So here is an easier and faster way.

First, if you want to keep your original wheel cap, move on because this procedure will destroy it.

Required: wood screw, screwdriver, hammer, pliers

1. Take a 1-2" wood screw and gently tap it into the center of the cap you want to remove.

2. Do 2-3 turns with the screwdriver.

3. Using the pliers, grasp the head of the screw and pull.

4. Put the new cap on.

5. Do the same thing 3 more times.

6. Reach for a beer.

The edge can also be padded/protected with black electrical tape then use a small flat screwdriver.

Just pop the cap out from the back of the wheel. I.E. take wheels off. The tire shop has to pop these off in order to get the new tires balanced. They snap right back in.

EXBMW - good advice also:)

I have the 17" base wheels, which I gather has the same wheel cap as the R-Spec wheels. I did exactly as you mentioned, and had Costco Tire Shop replace them when I got my tires rotated, and they gave me the OEM ones in a bag. I had to wait until first tire rotation, but no big deal.

Two small flathead screw drivers, use smallest one to pry just a bit of the cap out then use the other to pry it out more. Takes about 15 seconds a cap at most.
