  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

333Hp? Why is Genesis so slow?

Folks, the original poster is a troll. Notice she didn't compare the Genesis to the closest competitor in its class, the GS 350 or the ES 350. Notice that she didn't even compare the V8 Genesis with the LS 460, or the LS 460 with the G90. No, she is double-trolling because not only is she not comparing cars in equal weight-classes, she's also by comparing a car in a completely different league with regards to refinement and luxury to utilitarian Camry, implying that they compete with each other.

Who is cross shopping a mid sized economy car with a full sized premium sedan? I picked the G80 over a BWM 5r based on size. I wanted/needed more room and the 7 is just silly. Camry is cross shopped by sonata drivers not Genesis/G80

I'm not comparing my Genesis to any other vehicle, I'm just going to say that it has lot's of balls for a four door sedan. If I want to make tire smoke, I'll use my Corvette.

hey chronic off the line the car is not fast but quick for the size and weight . once you go above 40 your hauling ass to 80 real quick . i do agree with alot of people saying this car has gears for good gas mileage it really was not made for racing . ..

Weight, gearing, torque curve are what affect acceleration. You'd have to compare them and you can be sure the Genesis has more wight to get moving.

3 years ago, when this post originated, I wouldn't have even dignified it with a response. This one is just plain silly.

Lots to be considered here.

Genesis = rear wheel drive.
Camry = front wheel drive.

Because of that, power loss at the wheel will be greater on the Genesis than on the Camry.

Also gearing should be considered.

Genesis = 8-speed
Camry= 6-speed

More gears = more shifts which = slower acceleration

Genesis Final Drive = 3.9 (slower acceleration)
Camry Final Drive = 3.458 (faster acceleration)
3.90 gears = faster off the line. more gears = close ratio shifting to stay in power band
