  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

4 V8's at Dealer now

Well I got some more good news. Of course everyone has different taste, and as mentioned above, after seeing every color except white (which is delayed) in the V-6 Genesis we decided on the Sterling Blue with the cashmere interior.

My dealer said that most dealers wanted black, silver, and the gray in the 4.6 Genesis since they are the most popular colors as far as V-6 sales. I don't know it could also be because that was about all you could find of the V-6's for a while anyway.

After owning black and dark blues I was tired of all the swirl marks no matter what I used for waxing and drying. I used some of the best microfiber cloth there is and also other products. The fact is when I bought my black Elantra and my dark blue Azera they had swirl marks on them coming straight off of the truck. I did have my Azera's swirl marks buffed out before I would accept it.
I am at the age now where I don't like to fight that and I don't always like to hand dry a car anymore either. So the black and darker colors really show water spots to. As I said after seeing all the colors my wife and I thought the light Sterling Blue was a very nice looking color and we thought easy to keep clean and avoid swirl marks showing up.

We also like light color interiors. It just seems like something brighter seems a bit more chearful. We liked the cashmere.

Now the problem is since that is probably not a popular color it may be forever before my dealer can locate one for us. I really would like to get one just the way we want it but I confess its not looking good.........:) I guess that is the price we pay for being different.

I think you made a great choice. I took my test drove in a sterling blue/cashmere v6 and even in the short period of time I spent with the car it really grew on me. So much so, that if I pull the trigger on a Genesis this year, I'm fairly confident it will be that exact color scheme. When you take delivery, please do post pictures - I'd really love to see what it looks like with the different rims and the silver trim on the doors.

Thank-you for the vote of confidence on our color choice. I will certainly post some pics. if we get lucky and they can find one for us. The dealer won't trailer one in over 500 miles unless I want to pay extra. I felt I got a pretty good deal on the car also factoring in trailering within 500 miles.

Also I guess the way it works is my dealer has to wait for his first V-8 Genesis to get there on the lot. After that he can then trade another dealer for the color combination we chose. He has the platinum with black interior coming. He got some official paperwork just yesterday telling him he should have that in 4-5 days.

I see some pluses and minuses to this whole thing. If the sterling blue isn't popular then probably no dealer specifically asked for it. But if there happens to be just a few and it isn't popular maybe it will be easier to latch onto?

The other thing is since the platinum is suppose to be one of the top three popular colors if a dealer does have a sterling blue one then he will probably be willing to trade for my dealers platinum one.

Now if he can't find a sterling blue and sells his platinum 4.6 Genesis or is able to trade that for another color he can find for another customer I will then have to wait for his second 4.6 Genesis to show up so he can then trade that one out. It's quite a deal on how all this works. I wished they would have just shipped some of every color. I mean after all if they show them as available I just wished you could get what you want without being penalized all the additional wait time..........

Ah, Duaine, at least some of us V6 owners can relate to your pain. Your dilemma is precisely what I experienced throughout the month of July, when I was not-so-patiently waiting for my dealer to locate a sapphire blue/cashmere Tech V6. After several weeks of futile searching, I finally gave up and picked up the black/black car that he had in his showroom.

There's at least one frustration you get to avoid...a period of two weeks or so where I couldn't even see a printed sample of the exterior and interior colors, as the brochures weren't out yet (let alone the cars), and no one - even at HMC HQ - could produce any color samples.

Not to send mixed messages, but I encourage you to stick to your guns and wait for the sterling/cashmere V8 to show up. Hopefully the pipeline of V8s is healthier than the initial supply of V6s was at a similar stage. On the other hand, I can tell you that I have no regrets as the owner of a black Genesis. No swirling issues whatsoever, and it's a beautiful car, even when it's just "mostly clean".

All these confirmations of V8s on the dealer lots, and no pictures? Al Gore, inventor of the almighty internet, and John McCain, inventor of the almighty Blackberry, would be very disappointed.

Let's get some pictures folks.

I was "playing" yesterday, and checked many major cities dealer listings, and then checked their on line inventories. I found several dealers that listed V8's in a wide area - one in Virginia, One in Iowa(!) two in Houston, etc. Surprizingly, Dallas, Miami, Chicago, and, New Orleans showed none. But more interestingly, ALL of the dealers listed only black/black - there were NO other colors at any of the dealers that I found that had vehicles in stock according to their inventories!

Where was the one in Iowa?

Yes I certainly do understand that your situation had to be far worse than mine! Back then there was basically no information to go on for anyone. It is of course hard to wait when your excited about getting your hands on the car.

Well I did talk to them at around noon today. A salesman with the first name of Jake checked with their sales manager and not only did they tell me that they didn't have a V-8 but said it may be mid Oct before they get one.
On the other hand my dealer who happens to be in Waterloo Iowa is telling me theirs is suppose to be here in 4-5 days. Who do you believe.........wow!

I'm here in Omaha and have been in contact with Edwards since that V8 first showed up on their website last week (working through James their Internet Sales manager). Was told they enter their cars in the website once the invoice arrives, but the car can not be far behind. Said they would call me when it shows up.... the dealer in Lincoln (Sid Dillon) has 2 inbound (both pre-sold).

I was at one of the Omaha dealers today (to ask where the V8 was) and was told "soon". They did offer me their demo (black Premium Plus with 2500+ miles) at invoice ($33,723). They have sold a total of 4 cars in the last 2 months so I have a feeling even better deals can be had. I said I want to drive the V8 first.
