  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

5.0 Brake Caliper Dress Up.

I never said he is in the process of selling the car. I was just explaining in what situations the sticker is a problem, and when it is no big deal. For now, it is no big deal. However, it is safe to assume that at some point he will sell or trade-in the car. Please don't try and tell me it will never happen.

It's actually somewhat amusing that someone feels the need to put stickers on their stock Hyundai brakes to fool others into thinking they are from a cool, high performance brand - even when the Hyundai brakes are actually quite good in their own right...

I think the Genesis brakes are excellent, except of course for the HECU failure that results in complete loss of brakes, but that has nothing to do with calipers, rotors, or pads.

Wasn't familiar with that issue as I never followed the old Genesis (didn't care for styling - and wasn't in the market for a car), but Google brought me up to speed on that issue that appears to have affected the 2009-2012 Genesis. My comments were around my satisfaction with the brakes in my 2015 - at least so far :)

It's actually somewhat amusing that someone feels the need to put wings on their stock Hyundai to fool others into thinking they are from a cool, high performance brand - even when the Hyundai brand is actually quite good in their own right...To top it off, they go out and then claim they only do this because the H looks bad. Yeah right.

Funny thing is I am sure most here think the Brembo sticker is a really cool idea and will do the same. They just won't tell anybody here because they will get their faces ripped off. :D

I think the wing emblem looks very nice. It's the default emblem in other markets. I will put one on the rear of my Hyundai because it looks good. This is my third Hyundai, and I've been a proud proponent of the brand since my first one, and I wouldn't berate others who feel similarly on the subject (even if I didn't). The discussion over the Brembo stickers is getting a little over the top IMO.

Wings are already part of the Genesis brand. Brembo is not.

That would be "wrong and wrong". The Genesis wings are already all over the car and many of us just don't like the look of the flying H - the trunk wings look better and there is no deception by adding them - the rear wings still say what the car actually is: a Genesis!

I suspect most here do not agree with your assessment on the Brembo stickers and would never add them. As I said before, if you like Brembo brakes, why not figure out how to add them? To me, I just don't understand the motivation to add stickers to pretend you have something you really don't?

You are missing the point. You are free to put whatever you want on your car - no one ripped your face off. If it makes you feel good, go for it. Put a BMW emblem on the back, a Mercedes star on the front and Audi rings on the side panels.

The Hyundai wings are Hyundai emblems - if someone put on Aston Martin wings, they would likely get the same reaction that many have had here. As I said before for many, the Genesis is for those who do not trade in icons or symbols of false wealthy or status. Adorning this car with those symbols seems counter to what makes the Genesis the bargain it is - not as a poser car, but a car that can stand on its own merits.

You may be confused about the Genesis wings. The wings are Hyundai OEM parts for the Korean version of the Genesis, and now in 2015 they are OEM parts fir the USA and Canadian versions also (except for the trunk). The wings are made by, and trademarked by, Hyundai Motor Company for use on the Genesis. Comparing that to putting a Brembo sticker on Hyundai brake calipers is ridiculous.

Now if someone put OEM Bentley wings on a Hyundai Genesis, that would be different.

You guys are taking this too seriously!

If it was 5 series (528) and he slapped the sticker of an M5, then you can crucify him! I've seen that happened on bimmer forum :D
