  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

AA & ACP release

Got my first phone call while using Android Auto auto and it didn't go so well. Answered it from the button on the steering wheel but no voice coming from the speakers. It seems control had been given back to the phone as if I weren't using a hands-free system. I followed that up by placing some outbound calls via AA by voice command. Everything worked as expected with all audio routed through the car speakers and mic. Now I am home and have been experimenting some more by calling to my phone running AA from a second line. While active in AA, every time I receive a call, it kicks control back to the phone itself and bypasses the car. It seems to be only an issue with incoming calls. Anyone have similar experience with incoming calls and/or know how to fix?

Another issue- voicemail requires button presses for pin input. When placing an outbound call, the car display shows a numeric keypad but the phone does not respond to button presses from the screen. What is weird is that control is given back to the phone where button presses are accepted while sound routing remains with the car.

I think there are definitely going to be some bugs and growing pains with this implementation. Hopefully that improves over time.

Well I just wasted a gallon of gas. Their videos make it seem like you need to have the car running the whole time. Lame. Guess that's what I get for wanting to have this first.

Since I have an aftermarket amp installed in the car, I had some jumper cables near by. Good thing I didn't need them.

Also, I assume the Genesis has a bigger battery than the other cars, so maybe the other cars can't make it without running.

It automatically downloads it to it. The first download (less than a minute) is the program, which downloads to your pc. Then, you run the program and it will not let you download the files unless the usb is inserted. Also, after the files are downloaded, it formats the memory card and then copies the files to it.

Guess my computer is being dificult. It want to run the program in the c drive which is the hard drive and not to the usb

I have an SD slot, and the Hyundai program found it with no issues.
The first step downloads a small file to your DL folder, and when you execute it, it downloads to your hard drive, and finally once that is complete, it unzips and transfers the files to your SD card. The prompts all refer to USB, but it actually updates the SD card.

If you don't have an SD slot, I'd suggest trying a FAT32 formatted USB Drive, and then placing that into your USB slot. I think that will work based on the video online, but no one has confirmed that yet.

Ahhh, just read this. So I have to have enough space in my hard drive to accomadate the 24gb download and then transfer the download to the usb

I think the download was less than 10gb. After unzipping it ballooned to between 13-14gb. The 24 is for the download and unzipping combined. I think the nav sd card only holds a max of 16gb.

Good luck with the external drive to USB. Sounds a bit of a pain but you'll get there.

Just a guess, but I think android for the community will be far more problematic. And it's the problem with android that drove me to Apple. Every installation of android is slightly different depending on the model of the phone. You need Lollipop at the least, preferably Marshmallow. My guess is that Hyundai's contractor for the FW tested with Marshmallow on a Samsung, most popular and the future. If they were smart and had the time, also used a Nexus as a benchmark, since it's "pure". But Lollipop on a Nexus is not the same as Lollipop on a Samsung. And cell service providers in the US still have a say as to what gets put in as well as the manufacturer. When the updates roll out are also a variable. Die-hards will only use a Nexus.

I just did this and was quite pleased and surprised as to how easy it was. Took about 45 minutes to download the files to the SD card and about 30 minutes in the car to update the system. I did it on my normal drive home from work and it finished about a mile from my destination, could not time it better than that, no wasted gas or extra time in the car.

Ironically I'm not sure I will use carplay that much but it is nice to have the option and figured it was free so why not. It was nice Hyundai did this, I remember I had a Lexus GS that the next year added Siri functionality and they would not add the capability to the same model one year older.

If you don't want to go to the dealer, you will probably need to borrow a computer. A 10 year old computer with no space left on the drive is sending baby to get the beer.

The application downloaded from Hyundai is tiny (about 1 MB), but the things it performs are far from trivial.

Once you start it, it will download a 9 GB zip file to your user TEMP folder. AFAICT, this cannot or should not be changed. Once the download is complete, it unzips the files in the TEMP folder (that's why you need at least 24 GB of free space on the hard drive), looks for the map SD card and formats it. Then it copies the unzipped files from TEMP to the SD card.

When I did my update, I put the completed map SD card into the slot, turned on the car (switch to ON without pressing on the brake pedal), turned off the head/parking lights, interior lights, AC/fan, and radio, navigated to system info and began the update process.

Hope this helps.

I was not able to download the new version. The download software kept on claiming it has not found the usb drive in two computers despite I had inserted the vehicle sd map. The windows file explorer was able to find the sd card and list the directories.

Is it possible that the dealer gave me an old version of the sd card and the Hyundai download manager does attempt to match up the versions?

I have a 2016 AWD Tech built in July 2015 and purchased in Jan 2016. I checked the version in the car. It stated ST.DH.USA.E469.150211 and the Map Ver was NAM.08.41.52.591.001.

The alert message listed the software update to be ST.LF.USA.E506.160316.

Does anybody know what could be wrong before I talked to the dealer?

Looks like your alert message has the same version as mine. Did you recall or drop down the version number on the vehicle before you did the update. I suspect the dealer gave me the wrong version of the SD card and did not match up with the car Vin, and I was not able to download.

Just got this as an alert on MyHyundai.

Your new Android Auto updated version is available (ST.LF.USA.E506.160316: Apr 15 2016 5:55AM)

No links, or anything, just that text.

Thanks for the info. I have tried different ways but it seems that I may just have to do what you stated and go to a buddies house to download it. Will update once I try again.....lol

Not sure why I typed drop down, I meant jot down.

Tried again with the third computer, a Hitachi laptop. That one works. I am not sure why I could not do it with the first two computers, a desktop with a i7 cpu and lots of disk space and an asus laptop, one I bought in 2014. Both could read the SD card but the Hyundai program would not find it.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
At least you're able to download it. I haven't gotten the alert that it's available yet and I do not have the download tab. I have the signature with the smaller touch screen so I know I am eligible.

I was confused at first by the missing download tab, until I realized I was using Chrome on my Linux machine. So I ran Chrome on WIndows 7 and all was good. It's supposed to run under OS X, but I didn't try it.

If you are using Windows with a supported browser, then you may be experiencing what users have encountered (just guessing here) where there is some kind of mis-match with the VIN registered at Hyundai.

All sorts of things have to go right for this to work. I used a Dell desktop with a very vanilla SD card slot that uses the standard Windows driver. My guess is that a Windows machine that has an OEM driver for the SD slot may block information the Hyundai application wants in order to validate the operation. Many SD slots require OEM drivers to work in Windows, and some of them will probably not work or need to be updated.

Once the Hyundai download manager was able to find the OEM SD card on the laptop, everything was smooth. The download and unzipping took about a little over 1/2 hr. I have Comcast "blast" level, or whatever they call it that gives over 130 mbps download speed. Using 1 gig Ethernet connection instead of wifi makes a big difference. The update in the vehicle took about 40-45 minutes. Glad I read the forum first because some instruction like "restart the system" and occasional slow progress would have me confused. The update progress is all automatic. There should be a clear message at the end that indicates everything is finished.

I left the car in on position without starting the car and there was no battery problem. I drove the car for fifteen minutes around the neighborhood and did not find any error or problem. I did not try android auto as I only have windows phones with "pay as you go" plan.

I was able to update it to Apple car play but now the maps states " SD card not comparable with current version". Anyone had this issue and how did you resolve it.
Thanks

Put the SD car in the car slot, Ignore the message, so to Setup, and update.
Follow the prompts from there.
