  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When the ABS is active while driving, should the light illuminate in the dash? It was not completely clear to me from the manual.

The light turns on when I first start the car, as it should, but when driving on snowy roads and braking it does not illuminate even though I can feel the ABS activating. Is this normal or should the light be on when ABS in active operation?

It's normal for the light not to illuminate when it is active.

I believe the ABS light only stays on if there is a malfunction in the ABS system.

FYI: It does not come on in my 2003 Subaru but it did come on when ever activated in my 1989 Mercedes. I talked to a friend with a newer Mercedes and it does not come on when activated. Its my bet that on newer cars it only comes on when a malfunction occurs.

we had the abs and esc lights come on and took it to the dealer several times for this issue. After the 3rd trip they found a faulty sensor in the rear wheel area and that was the culprit. It hasn't been on since. The tech said the light will only come on if there is a problem.
