  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Aftermarket Exhaust options!

A bit late, but finally installed the exhaust yesterday.

RES.mp4

Oh dang! That sounds pretty mean! I bet it gets even more shouty when you really gun it when moving. Nice. It's too bad you can't see it, though - that exhaust is seriously a work of art. I bet you got some nice weight savings, too.

$500 - May need minor modification. I've put in a query if they will make it G70 specific. I've also included a link to their intakes as well.

I had a shop do a custom muffler delete and the drone suuuucks. Is there some kind of difference between material and diameter that affects that?

After a week i got annoyed so i looked up people using these Vibrant Ultra quiet resonators and said that it did wonders for drone. Got them put in Monday, killed some of the tone i liked and did absolutely squat for my drone. Im about to find some stock mufflers and be done with this exhaust.

You may like a evc but costly. I love mine I hardly turn the radio on. Loud with drone when open. Very minor drone under load when closed. I also have secondary downpipes. One thing I disliked about the car was too quiet stock. You also may like stock mufflers with downpipes. Good luck

I’m running ark midpipes with jun bl racing exhaust and it’s very very loud under a load. But once you get up to a cruising speed up to like 75-80ish you really can’t hear the exhaust if you have the radio on like 4 or 5

It’s the constant drone that kills me. I’m about to just find stock mufflers and do a mid pipe for pep and sound. Finding stock mufflers is the challenge. Idk if I wanna pay all this money for these thousand dollar plus exhaust setups

Is there drone at those speeds under slight load like while using cruise control for example?

When I’m doing 70 with cruise control you can’t hear the exhaust unless the road starts going uphill and requires more power to keep that speed. But traveling flat almost nothing

Not bad! Pretty damn deep which is awesome
Yeah it actually got even deeper over the past few days. I never close the valves since when I do its quieter than stock. I cant imagine why anyone would pay the money for this particular exhaust and close those valves since its so quiet.

Yeah it screams at higher RPMs. From inside the car it almost sounds like a supercar. My next goal is to break into the 11s, but I really don’t want to mess with that brake snip mod. 😩

A couple stinger owners are running 11's without the brake snip mod. One of which even has his stock primary downpipes on, and no WMI, and no brake snip. Right now he's running a beta version of Tork's Stage 2 ECU flash.

yeah the primary downpipes are staying on and I am sticking with the piggyback to try to keep the warranty intact. I got a 12.4 out of her going uphill on my 18” winter tire setup, car seat in the back and a bunch of crap in the trunk...We will see if I can make any improvements on a more aggressive map once the track opens up but that last 4-5 tenths won’t be easy.

Don't you think people that would never close the valves should just save their money and not buy a valved exhaust in the first place?

You awd or rwd? What was your trap speed on the 12.4?

Coming back home at 2am might warrant closed valves (or just general neighborhood cruising). I'd sure as hell appreciate if the dick with a Harley in my neighborhood could shut it the f$%k up on the few days I attempt to sleep in

Not really. I didn’t care about the cost and was more interested in the craftsmanship, rarity, sound profile and option to close the valve if it was obnoxiously loud or droned on the highway.

Thats what I thought I might use it for but for whatever reason, its really quiet unless you put your foot in it. In the neighborhood its barely audible.

I close the valves when I take a road trip. I would not enjoy driving 3 to 10 hours with valves open. And my exhaust with valves closed is not quieter than stock its actually the way it should have came stock, just a little deeper and louder (but I do have downpipes) before the downpipes it was just about same as stock.

That’s a good point I hadn’t considered. I might change my perspective if I added mid-pipes and it became louder.

I also realized I mistyped earlier. I meant to say that I can’t imagine why anyone would close the valves on just the RES exhaust since its so quiet. Totally get it for louder ones.

Midpipes even make the stock exhaust a little bit louder. I noticed that before I did my catback
