If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Aftermarket Exhaust options!

So Google has failed me, and I just read through this whole thread. Looks like almost no US brand, or even overseas, makes an axleback for this car. Or did I miss something? Spending $500 on a Stinger one to pay a shop to install and modify it seems stupid. I also can't justify to my fiance spending 2k on an exhaust after convincing him to be ok with me buying a new car when were saving for a house and planning a wedding. It doesn't help that I'm coming from WRX/GTI ownership where parts are cheap and plentiful. If this car came with a factory active exhaust It'd be perfect. At this point I may see about getting a custom exhaust made locally, I just hate the idea of putting up the money and not knowing the results. Does anyone know of anything in the works that might launch in the next few months?
An axle back specific to the G70? You are unfortunately correct, no one makes one that I know of either. I’m sort of in the same boat, waiting for something to become available rather than an unknown custom job. But I would also settle for a CBE that I don’t have to modify, one of the other stinger options that no one makes for us yet. That would be cheaper and doesn’t have as much risk of a shop messing something up

I bought a pair of xforce mufflers with EVC and had a local shop custom install them with a 2.5 flange and pipes from the rear axle back. Also had to have them extend and fabricate exhaust tips and used the stock hanger locations. This way I can bolt the exhaust to the flange and then swap back to stock easily if I want to. The total cost was about $900. The welds aren’t the greatest but it will work for now. Thinking about bringing them to a different shop and have them clean up the welds.

I wonder if those replacement arms have pillow ball spherical bearing bushings... May be a nice little upgrade in terms of road feel and handling.
What replacement arms you talking about.

Anyone know where I can get more horsepower and torque on a AWD 2.0T? I rather have my speed on a suppressor.

Damn those are some nasty welds for sure. It's amazing how bad most of the exhaust shop welders are, I ran into the same thing when I had O2 sensor bungs welded into a set of headers in the past. If I were the one doing these welds I would be ashamed of myself, and I have zero welding skill to start with, not supposedly a professional.

Aside from the poor cosmetics how do you like the exhaust otherwise?

Kind of where I am now as well. I’m debating on trying to find a pair of Kunstwek mufflers and just having a shop fab up a cat-back exhaust for me. Friend of mine, that is a Magnaflow dealer, has been bugging Magnaflow again for me. But nothing concrete yet. Plus I’m still unsure of the Magnaflow sound when I’ve heard it on a Stinger. Some the JunBL set ups sound amazing. But they also come with a hefty price tag after being imported.

The issue is that, at least here in the US, the G70 isn’t produced in high enough numbers to justify manufacturers To make G70 specific parts if there isn’t already a base to build off of. We benefit from already existing “bolt-on” parts shared with other Hyundai or Kia models, but stand alone G70 parts are few and far between.

Subaru aftermarket is pretty expansive even with the low number of Subaru’s that are modified compared to say a Mustang. A quick comparison shows that in the first quarter of ‘19 Ford sold somewhere around 16k Mustangs. Genesis sold just under 6k G70s in the first six months of ‘19. And typical Genesis owners are a lot less likely to modify their cars compared to even typical Subaru owners.

Now Having my Kunstwerk evc for about 2500 miles Sounds better than ever.

Also, supposedly Magnaflow said that they have exhaust plans for the G70 sometime this summer. But it will be a full, cat-back exhaust. @OMG70 would know more than me about that, though!

You might have missed my update about it, but Magnaflow put the project on an indefinite halt for reasons unknown. Cody told me he'd reach out if they do decide to make the thing.

Now that you mentioned it, I'm going to shoot him an email just to check in. You all will be the first to know if I hear of any changes

Oh dang, I didn't know that. WTF Magnaflow.....get it together!! >:(

Let us know how you like it. Is there a specific part number for the mufflers you purchased? How was the wiring to hook up?

Lastly, it would be great to have a video clip of how they sound closed, mid-way, and open!

The muffler design definitely works like it claims with the electronic valve controlling the noise. When it is closed, it sounds nearly identical to stock. For a little more noise you can set it to slightly open and then louder and deeper with it all the way open. I prefer to have it open about 25%. It’s definitely too loud for me during daily driving if it’s fully open all the time.

I ran the wires from the mufflers up through the rubber grommet for the drivers side rear taillights and then into the trunk and up into the cab and into the front 12v cigarette lighter. I eventually plan to get a USB to cigarette lighter cord and hide it in the front arm rest. The mufflers I used are Xforce Varex VMK56-250 with custom fit 2.5” piping from the tips to the rear axle flange.

I’ll try to see if I can get a video.

Couldn’t you just wire right to the battery in the trunk?

You may get some very slow, unintentional battery drain if you do it that way...

Khartunerz has a muffler delete for the G70, this is technically an axle back exhaust.

Hoff Performance Muffler Delete - Genesis G70 2.0T/3.3TT

I came across that, but $600 for a muffler delete seems pricey. Might as well by a cheap stinger CBA and get it modified at that point.

So now that bms is coming out with their wastegate controller set up I’ve been starting to browse through catless downpipes again. I remember seeing sixth element had a set for just under 500$. Now I can’t find it anywhere. Only the lap3 for 700 is what I can find. Anyone know where to find the sixth element pipes?

I can't find them either... I wonder what happened? Last I heard they were getting pre-orders in for their HFC version. ?

I found the high flow version. Although it says it’s for the stinger and g80 3.3 sport. And those are 899 I think I saw. But I was gonna order those catless ones for under 500. Seemed like a good deal to me
