Alignment?

After doing some extensive highway driving with my 3.8, I notice that the car tends to pull to the left and I have to keep constant pressure on the wheel to direct the car straight. I assume this is just an alignment issue? Anyone have a similar issue?

Did you car come from the factory that way, or did it develop after you starting driving it?

If so, there is probably a reason they issued a TSB for alignment in September.

I found mine quite sensitive to crown in the road. Dead flat, straight and level, it's perfect since day 1.

Ric, are you saying that your car was sensitive to a crown in the road, but better after they adjusted the alignment when this service bulletin came out? Or is your car still sensitive to a crown in the road?

I too have had this problem. I have already put 9,000 miles on my Genesis and it became very annoying. The dealer realigned according to specs and the problem was not corrected. Hyundai engineering also got involved.

Here is some of what was written on my invoice by the techs and what was sent to hyundai engineering.

After 3 days of trying different adjustments it was determined that bushing resistance was pushing the left side off by 15 degrees. It was finally corrected by loosening all 6 subframe bolts and shifting the subframe right side back, left side forward to increase caster on left side to compensate for pull approximately .5 deg change in caster. Root cause of problem is left side suspension pushing out 15 degrees.

The service manger at my dealer said Hyundai engineering was very interested in every step they took to correct the problem. A Hyundai rep came to the dealer as well to see what was done. he service rep told me the rep for Hyundai has investigatede 3 other Genesis with similar problem.

hope this helps anybody who starts to feel that pull to the left.

Just sensitive to crowned roads. Never had it serviced. TSB is not a recall/mandatory kind of thing, it's just the specs if you need to have it done. Obviously you could print it out and have it checked out at "Alignments Are Us."

I thought I noticed a pull to the left when I was on I-95 the other night. I decided it was because I was in the left lane. I was reasonably sure it did not happen when I was in either of the two middle lanes. Now I will have to be more aware the next time I'm on I-95. Thank goodness I don't travel on I-95 very often.

Has anyone noticed a pull to the right in the right lane? I don't think I spent much time in the right lane the other night.

I'm experiencing this myself, but it is only noticeable on the highway and it is a very subtile feeling. But it is just enough to be fatiguing if driving long distances.

It did correct the problem, however, I have driven about 200 miles since they gave the car back to me and it is starting to do it again. I have also noticed that I have to hold the steering a bit to the right to go straight. If I hold the wheel centered the car goes to the left. I am going to contact dealer today and I will post any updates.

Hmmm...drove my V8 to Memphis this weekend and actually rode about a 1/4 mile with out even touching the steering wheel.

I think mine is dead on!

Well, stopped by dealer today to inform them that car is pulling to left again. They asked me to bring the car in tomorrow and they are going to contact the Hyundai rep and have him look at it. Will keep you posted.

I must say that even though this has been kind of a pain, the service dept at Dennis Hyundai of Dublin, Steve in particular, has been absolutely outstanding!! They have really stepped up to the plate to make sure that this Genesis owner is satisfied. I have no doubt they will fix the problem.

Mine did the same -had to take in - problem solved...but I wonder how it gets sold brandnew with such a problem in the first place? I had many brand new cars but never one with a wheel alignment problem straight from the floor. I was not impressed...

Yes. The Chevrolet Impala's sold to the Government in the past 3 years had a defect.

The defect was that all the cars REAR wheels were out of line. My dad, who works for NASA, gets a government car anytime he travels and on his way to Mobile, AL he had a flat. When he got it to the shop in Mobile both of the rear tires were ate up on the inside.

This was 2 years ago, he still gets the impala and the first thing he does is check the wear pattern on the back wheels. He said 75% of them were wore on the inside track. This may be the kind of stuff that is closing them down....who knows?

This may be the kind of stuff that is closing them down....who knows?

Not 'closing them down'...I heard it will only take about $25 billion to fix the problem!
