  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Alternatives to G70?

Incorrect
I would say he is correct. Why in the name of God I would pay the same price for a G80 3.3T and a G70 3.3 T? The G80 is twice the car the G70 is. A well loaded Audi A4 Premium plus Quattro could be buy it by less than $50,000 and a BMW 440i for $55,000? I would have to be freaking crazy.

So, what is correct?

G80 Sport AWD is $57,750 plus tax, etc. Why do people keep pulling facts and figures out of their freaking asses?!?!

If you’re going to post stuff...research first!!!!

We are not idiots.

90% of the G70 US threads are nothing but speculation of price, delivery, options, and anxiety. Now I can see potential buys wanting a release date, but the rest of us won't be affected in our lives.

I guess it is speculation on my part, but I've laughed at some of the possible prices that have been posted. Meantime, I'm just sitting back and waiting for FACTS when released.

How is the G80 twice the car compared to the G70?

While there's no way to know yet, common sense say whatever the price of Genesises are in Canada, convert that price to US dollars and it won't be too far off what the US prices will be.

A Canadian G70 Sport about $57,000 Canadian converts to around $43,500 US. Hey, the G70 is NOT a G80 although a nice size if you don't need the extra room of the G80. END OF STORY...

Do your homework. The numbers are there.
Really? I've driven the new G80 Sport and bought the G70 Sport. How did they compare when you drove them?

Lol. One thing is that you like it more but another is that the G70 is more car than the G80. The way you think Genesis should be wrong and the G70 should be like "G700, the Genesis G80 big brother" It's not driving, IT'S MORE CAR, bigger, roomier, luxurious, impressive. Again, do your homework please????;)

The G80 isn't more 'luxurious' than the G70 Sport. It is physically larger and depending on who you talk to it may or may not be more impressive.

Don't know what you're smoking...

Genesis G70 184.4" long, 15.6 gallon gas tank and 3913 lbs
Genesis G80 196.5" long, 20.3 gallon gas tank and 4674 lbs

The Genesis G70 is about the same size as the Kia Stinger. The G70 might be more fun to drive, especially if you get the stick shift. Based on the data above, it may get a few more MPG and it certainly will be several hundred dollars less expensive.

My G80 Sport is the biggest car I've ever owned and I find myself having to take care, maneuvering into parking spots. That's one area that I would prefer the G70, but that's less than 1% of my driving and I'll take the G80 over the G70 in a heartbeat.

It will be interesting to see how Hyundai will market the G70. It appears that up in Canada there are a lot of choices to make verses the marketing strategy in the US for the G80 where there are 2 major packages with the Sport loaded with all of the 2 major packages plus other standard equipment. The FULL MEAL DEAL.

I'm still waiting to see if the US G70 is stripped of electronic goodies (compared to the Canadian G70) just like the US Stinger was. A rather odd choice since model bifurcation is usually said to increase production costs and they aren't saving much money because things like CCD cameras are only a few bucks each in the quantities they're ordering them.

One problem I have right now is the G70 announcement is so late I don't know if there will be a G70 for me to test and possibly buy before my Genesis lease expires at the end of September. Does Hyundai allow you to temporarily extend leases? 2-3 extra months would solve this problem nicely. I might go with the Stinger if I have to, which has awesome electronic configurability, a less cramped back seat, and more cargo capacity, but the G70 has a nicer interior, better rear visibility (looks like a big deal on the Stinger), and probably won't be saddled with easily chipped paint. Also, getting a G70 means I'm not stuck paying Hyundai $400 at the end of my current lease.

Curious...what does the Canadian Stinger have that the US version does not? Top model from each country.

Canada gets:

heated rear seats
wireless charging
360-degree camera
UVO remote start

I believe the Canadian Stinger is also quite a bit less expensive based on exchange rates.

Holy crap...that is major. Why would they leave all that out? Surely the cost wouldn’t be that much.

Looks like the 2019 Limited Edition "Atlantica" Stinger will have all the missing stuff. Only 500 made though.

The Stinger folks are crazy!!!! They are paying $300 USD to get the OEM wireless charger and then installing.

The Stinger in Canada also gets the alcantara headliner like the G70 and the US model doesn't.

To kind of get back on topic, if the 2019 VW Arteon was out when I was car shopping in the spring I would have definitely looked at it and considered it. I really like the look of it inside and out. Not exactly a direct competitor to the G70, but it is something I would have looked at and considered.

I was in the market for a g70, really like the look of the car and it’s likely to be a bargain v/s the German competition. I owned a 335i BMW and while I loved the car, out of warranty ownership is a no no . I test drove the Stinger 5-6 times, even drove a lap3 tuned version that the dealership sales manager had set up. I went and drove an 18 Mustang GT with the active exhaust, a10 and premium interior. I bought the car and got $7200 off sticker and 1.9 apr financing. The performance difference was drastic compared to the stock stinger GT2 and was very noticable against a level 2 tuned stinger GT2 AWD. The Mustang will spin its tires all the way to 60 easy in drag mode with traction control turned off. Lots of people are getting sub 4 second 0-60 and upper 11 second 1/4 mile times bone stock with zero upgrades. Multiple magazine test confirm this. My 401a equipped Mustang interior is really close to the Stinger gt2, the seats are just as nice, as is the leather, the dash and infotainment is better in the Mustang. The digital dash is awesome and customizable. There are some cheaper plastics in a few areas of the Mustang though. The Mustang transmission shifts much faster and more crisp. To be fair, the new 10 speed in the Mustang is far and away the best transmission I have ever driven, it is awesome. That was my only real gripe with the Stinger, the transmission was kinda lazy, like something that’s should be in a camry. The transmission in the G70 hopefully is recalibrated to give a more sporting experience. The Mustang is also on another level regarding handling compared to the Stinger, the Mustang is much more engaged, offers a lot more grip, and overall is much more enjoyable to drive if you are the sporting type. This is to be expected since the 2 cars are really in different classes. The exhaust note on the Mustang is pure sex, I get compliments everywhere, from Ruth’s Crisp to Wal Mart! I can also get 27 mpg on the open road at 65-70 mph. The Mustang GT is not for everyone, this car is stupid fast and if you don’t respect it you can get in trouble in a hurry. The back seats are only for short trips unless you are 5ft 2 or shorter. Cops watch every move you make and every car on the road wants to challenge you.
I think the G70 will be my choice if I ever decide to get a 4 door car, I can’t wait to see the reviews come in for the US spec version. As a daily driver with family considerations the G70 is hard to beat for the price. Even if it is only slightly faster than the Stinger it will be plenty fast enough because the Stinger is already an impressive performer. Can’t wait to see you guys post pictures and impressions once you get your cars.

Right now, the G70 has the more premium interior (taking into account only quality of materials); the next gen G80 should reverse that.

I'd say that the Stinger is a tweener; being btwn the G70 and G80 in size.
